i have purchased a m.2 m-key card with 6 SATA ports similar to the one with 5 SATA ports you have. They use a asm1166 or jmb585 controller. Hope this will work on my project, building my first nas.
Thank you very much, I need to ask: If we turn off the computer directly from the power button Or if the electricity suddenly cut off in the house Can such a PCIe SATA Expansion cards lead to burning or Damaged the HDD's connected to it?
The lsi card is a hba it card, of course remember sas cards can control sata, but not reverse you cant use a sata card to control sas, i buy all used sas hdds because they are cheap compared to sata. Plus heaps different hba cards for more ports n lanes.

Nice, what's your planned NAS OS? . My next server is either Unraid or TrueNas. Unraid has to clear a few requirements before I decide.

These three cards are not backed up by battery. I would definitely suggest using an external UPS.
