I looove lit fic! Romance on the other hand isn’t for me haha. But I discovered, that when I’m in the mood to read something romantic, that a lit fic with romance is my way to go. Thank you for the recommendations! ☺️
Yes Thank you girly💕 I mostly only read romance and then when I found your channel you introduced me to the wonderful world of literary fiction and I’m so happy that you’re bringing the two together. You’re a queen. And I love your channel ☺️
I just loved Big Swiss! I'm so glad my bookclub read it this month. It's such a strange book, especially the transcribed parts, but gosh did I adore the WLW content and the beauty in their descriptions.
Omg so happy for this video!! I picked up Gold Rush and devoured it in 2 days, could not get my hands off it and was super invested! I'm now even more curious about this world of litfic, all thanks to you!! Love from singapore ❤
These are great recs. Maybe for a future video revisit this through a different lens. Romance novels have a guaranteed HEA -- Happily Ever After Ending -- or HFN -- Happy for Now Ending. If it ends in tragedy, it becomes a love story or another genre. So, literary fiction with a romantic plot and a happy ending.
Love this list! I've been getting into reading lit fic this year and your videos about where to start really helped me 😊 do you have any fantasy/scifi readers and thriller/horror readers recs? Those are the genres I read the most and I've been trying to find lit fics that have those vibes.
I’m a lit fic reader who enjoys a romantic plot! I picked up Crushing and it’s giving me a more romantic comedy vibe VS true literary fiction. still enjoying it though :) Edit: nevermind, second half definitely changes the entire tone!
I can’t do romance. I think I’ve dealt with too many men in real life to buy into the perfectness of romance novels lmao. I love a good realistic love story though, Normal People was one of my faves when I read it.
i used to love reading romance as a kid and i've tried to revisit this feeling by reading more 'adult' romances like emily henry's but i just cringe soo much. i have no clue if maybe i've outgrown the genre or i just need to dig deeper to find a good romance book. idk but i'm excited to check out your recommendations!
I’m the same way and have found that I typically like lit fic with romance (ex: writers & lovers, normal people) vs. straight romance books, or if a romance book has a lot going on not completely revolved around the typical romance formula (ex: the very secret society of irregular witches).
it's a reference to Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging! my old (very unserious) tiktok handle was slaggy_lindsay so when i made a booktok account it was an extension of that
@@SlaggyBookClub Ahh ok cool! Thank you. I randomly found your UA-cam account and now I'm obsessed. After watching your "weird girl lit" video, I went out and bought Bunny my Mona Awad. I devoured it in two days and cannot stop thinking about it. Thanks so much for your recommendations, I will continue to look forward to your videos.
as a lit lit girly I adore your recs!!! im soooo with you on Genevieve Novak, her books are perfect for the romance readers. I personally really enjoyed no hard feelings and I get what you mean by the writing style hahaha, but at the time it was perfect for a quick and fun read also I recently got a copy of thirst for salt! you made me even more excited to start it soon~
I love how your books arent from tik tok. All i see these days is subpar writing becoming bestseller. Thank you so much for recommending and please dont stop
it's a chore to curate the fyp but you can definitely get good recs from tiktok. I just keep pressing not interested and try to interact with small accounts that have similar tastes to mine
I think booktok is amazing. Its just that now all the books being published is quite repetitive in the way its written and also plotwise. So to navigate through the popular books that are aimed at a particular demographic and finding ones that match ur taste is tough. The one thing about your channel is it recommends books that may be on booktok but aren't the mainstream ones iykwim.
As someone who reads both lit fic and romance, these are genuinely the most perfect recommendations!!
ahh yay!

I'm reading Talking at Night based on one of your previous videos and I LOVE it :)
GIRL, I'm reading Thirst for Salt right now off your recommendation and I'm in love!
I already need part 2 of this video 😊 I loved Talking at night ❤
Talking at night is so good!

Thirst for Salt is the best! Read it a year ago because of your books with the specific Australia vibe tiktok. incredible read
I would add The Rachel Incident by Caroline O'Donoghue to this list...never had a book make me cry such happy tears 🥲
You’re so right! I adored that book
These are great recs. Maybe for a future video revisit this through a different lens.

Excellent video. Thank you. I found 3 new books to try. Yay.

Ah I’m so glad I’ve been able to help! I’d love to do more litfic recs for other genre readers. I’m going to get started on a video right now.
Great video! Loving how you talk about books

I do love a good love story

thank you so much for these recommendations🥰😇
Gold rush is on my tbr, might bump it up to read it sooner
It’s random but I really love your vibe 😃
I look forward to reading Gold Rush by Olivia Petter and The Work by Bri Lee
Love your videos ! Thanks .
new viewer here! love the way you describe books :) added all these books to my tbr and subscribed 🥰
thank you!!
I'm a lit fic reader who's simply a sucker for anything romantic IRL. I suppose I'm welcome here too in a way 😁
absolutely!!

ah i feel you! i hope some of these titles work for you :)

I'm literally going through the same. I started Beach Read by Emily Henry to try and see if romance still works for me, and I didn't like it at all 😭
What does "slaggy" refer to? So curious.
