- Testing out Prestone Power Steering Fluid with Stop Leak. I have a leaky power steering pump and wanted to try out this fluid to see if it will actually stop the leak. I am working with a simple drip style leak accumulating about half a tablespoon a day. It's not much but makes a mess on the driveway. I would recommend to anyone that this is a temporary fix.

The best thing I like about this video is that you seem to have a wonderful attitude attitude thanks very much for sharing your findings about that product 👍
Great video, sir! Good thing about old square-bodies is that reman power steering pumps are cheap, and easy to install!
Used it. The crazy whining noise and the leak from the pump stopped like it was never there before. Saved myself expenses of a new pump and mechanics labour cost.
Awesome!
@@MechanicLife still holding?
how long did one bottle last you ?
Very good 👍
Thanks 👍
Do we gotta empty the reservoir of steering fluid before putting in the sealant? Or can we just put the sealant in with remaining steering fluid in the reservoir ?
I just added it to the system.
Este producto funciona cuando es una pequeña fuga y cuanto tarda en actuar y en si que es realmente lo que lo que hace internamente del sistema hidráulico
Esta fue una pequeña fuga. Todavía está arreglado.
Does the product cause issue during winter compared to non stop leak/original power steering fluid? Thanks
No issues to date with it in the Montana winters.
Hi. Did you make this as your permanent steering fluid?
No. I still cycle out the old fluid with new. I just used it as an additive.
@@MechanicLife will try this with my civic
Does it stop the the leak now, its 4 years since you started, did you recommend it
I ended up replacing about 2 years after that video. I still recommend it for sure.
really can overcome leaks?
It's work on a Ford F-150 2008 ?
More than likely.
can it hurt if u don’t have a leak?
If you don't have a leak its best to use OEM steering fluid. You can get it at your local dealer of what ever brand car you have.
How long did it stop the leak for ?
Fully it was about 2 days.
@@MechanicLife Then did it leak as bad as before?
Mine totally stopped. There will be some leaks that cant be stopped for sure though. If its small though, that product typically cures it.
