I've got the Epiphone "Inspired By Gibson" Standard 50's Lemonburst Sweetwater Excusive. It's got a gloss finish and except for not having the Gibson burstbucker pickups I've got a Lazarus. I changed the trussrod cover to a blank one and changed the switch tip to an amber one. I also replace the strap buttons to Gibson ones. $649 plus $30 for the parts I changed I'm more than happy with this guitar. I guess I could spend $300 and put in a set of Gibson pickups but the tone wouldn't change very much at all. This guitar sounds very close to my 2014 Gibson custom shop R8.
I was starting to get nervous, for a moment I thought you weren't going to include the battery riff in this video. But you did, and balance has been restored to the universe.
I just bought one of these and at least I won't have to change pots and caps. I use Bourns ,but CTS will do fine and I also use Mallory caps so, good to go there. I may change the pups in the future, but BB's are ok for now.

Thanks dude, and yes I did mean 2 and 3, my signal chain is my guitar going straight into my scarlett 2i2 audio interface plugged into my macbook pro and im using Neural DSP's Gojira archetype plug-in as my amplifier, and lastly I use reaper to record it all
For me the main selling point of this guitar was the one piece neck...no scarf joint....if you want an authentic '59 it's gotta be a one piece. Still waiting for delivery!

If mine doesn`t come with a AAAA veneer top, blemish free, zero imperfections and excellent working condition @ $900 for an epiphone, its going back. ;)
i've noticed that as well, and while that is a goof on epiphones part and they may not be making the best replicas of the actual lazarus, some of these less than impressive tops combined with this lemon burst color kinda make them the most accurate 1959s they've put out yet. Lazarus is a very special 59 that's flamed to hell, but a lot of them were plain or barely had any flame or had tops with one side flamed and the other plain. I realize that's not supposed to be what they were going for, but at least there's that silver lining
Another reason these are better than the 1959 "honey burst"(God i hated that orange! LOL) you had is the neck on these is One piece and the 1959's has a three piece neck. Plus these are way more limited. they did not make as many of these as they did the 1959 versions.
Thanks for the video I knew this was coming but I really didn't pay much attention to it. Today is October 12th 2021 and I'm expecting that my 59 and Sherry burst at the phone is coming today. I do plan on having to not take it home. I'm blind I didn't want the guitar sent to my house. So I had to send to the store where I bought it from I live in Suffolk County Long Island at the moment. Got a smoking deal on it. All said and done it cost me $61 out the door all said and done. I got it in Cherry Burris dark cherry burst. I finally come to the realization that I can't be finicky with finishes because I can't see most of them. I said I'm blind but that's not really to accurate severely legally blind. I own a few Gibson's couple of ibanez's both old ones from the 1960s probably around 6 late 60s the other is the 19 I guess the early 1980s. The '80s one is a Blazer piece of garbage even though it's made in japan. My other one is a short scale clone of a mustang but it has humbuckers instead of single coils. Doing equations on angles lol. Yeah so I'm really looking forward to getting this less fall. Less falls whenever my favorite Gibson. My favorite Gibson is the firebird and it took me from 1973 to 2017 before I got one. Saw Johnny winter's and I'm going off on tangents again I'm going to stop right here but yeah I'm really excited about getting this less full. It seems that the the pickups are different than the Lazarus you said they were burst fuckers wanted to and the 59 standard as you must know cuz your own one has the first buckets too and three which are from what I understand slightly hotter and the or at least the three is and the I'm curious as to how different the sound. But I look at it this way I'm not a tone but guy. I know everything on a guitar makes a difference in it sounds but how much that difference is and whether it's only audible to a dog I don't believe Tom Wood is sonically audible. Or that sentence was awkward but I guess you get the point? Maybe not? You know I don't believe it's so much species even as it is the actual wood it's density etc. So in my eyes and coming from a blind person that ain't too much I need something great to say but it's if it has you know Gibson pickups in it the CTS spot box the same pots the same switches same outfit Jack

If hasn’t got a burst it’s not a lemonburst. It’s a flat colour all over to replicate the original. Also it’s not exactly the same as the 59 as the Lazarus has a one piece neck and the 59 has a scarf joint.
Hey Mike if you get this I wanted to ask you a question. I'm pretty sure I remember you had the top of yours polished out to a gloss. Was it did it come out like a a regular Epiphone gloss guitar or just a gloss in general or is it just sort of like a in between satin and full gloss? I'm talking about your 1959 Epiphone of course. Really enjoyed that video where I think it was fun your guitar tech you're Lucy at the work all the work he had done on it and the polishing that was done interest me. This might be rude but approximately how much did it cost you to get all that work done? If you don't want to answer any of this I understand completely. I don't know how much a typical setup costs in your part of the world but my I'm paying 80 bucks including strings for a setup. And I would like to do what you did to your guitar as far as making it like the best it could be because you really enjoy it and it's a guitar you want to use and keep for a long time. If the guitar that I'm getting today connects with me or I can connect with it I wouldn't mind doing whatever it takes to make the guitar of the best it could be and I'm just trying to get an idea of what something like that might cost. Hey my friend good job on the review . I have one as well . Let me ask you do you feel the neck get sticky at some times ? Would you sand that down if you were me ?
I personally would not, over time the finish and your hand should adjust and get used to each other, plus the finish will wear in and smoothen out on it's own

Sounds very good and looks much better than the Inspired by Gibson1959 Epiphone. Essentially is the same guitar with a different top, but that yellow top sounds very well :P
Boy you know when I comment it's a book it's not a comment I have a severe addiction to not being able to stop commenting and I didn't finish my comments so here we go again. I've heard that the switching out the bridge can actually make a difference in town and all the way I haven't tried that or experienced it myself it does seem to be possible so I'm pretty sure I heard that the tailpiece and the actual bridge is not exactly the same weight-wise and otherwise I guess as a gibson. But all in all I think is to pick ups and all the electronics and all that are all Gibson it should sound like a gibson. I'm hoping it does lol! So I'm expecting that I'll go see it I'll play it in the store and make sure everything's working and then send it off to the guitar tech. I'm expecting rough not quite finished frets possible shop and shop ends on the front of Fred sprout Peoria if I like this guitar and it seems to be okay I'll go the extra mile in having a tech like go through the guitar really really well if this is what it's supposed to do anyway. But I would I would pay extra to have you know if it needs extra leveling or what a fret leveling whatever it takes to make the guitar really really play nice and set the pickup so they sound right. Nice review. Heck of a player. The specs do not show burstbuckers. They show as Proprietary Humbucker. I don’t like they used Indian Laurel as the fretboard either.
I got mine as a gift from relatives of mine,my only minor peeve is they always put heavy gauge strings on these new guitars,so I always change them to Reverend Willy's Mexican Lottery guitar strings in Extra Light,7-38,makes for easier bends and vibrato for blues playing. So far I now have five of these "Inspired By Gibson" Epiphones out eleven Epiphone guitars and I can't get enough of playing them,I plan to purchase a third ES-335,a Korina Flying V,a Firebird,a third SG Standard,an Explorer,an SG Special P90 and perhaps one more Les Paul.
This guitar has a different neck carve to the Epi 59 and the neck is also constructed differently, its a one piece instead of 3 piece which makes it more prone to headstock breakages. I wouldnt automatically assume that its a better guitar, I would advise Epi 59 owners to be very cautious and not knee jerk trading their 59s to try and get this guitar especially considering the pickups and wiring are the same. You may end up trading a better guitar! IMHO the neck on the Epi 59 is its best feature why then swap it for a guitar that has a different neck?
what actually makes epiphones and especially gibsons to headstock breakages is the angle of the headstock and how thin that area is. Scarf joint's don't actually reinforce that area all that much, it just kinda shows you where it'll break if it were to. Construction aside, it feels exactly the same to me, I didn't think it was that big of a deal but apparently that small change makes a lot of the "traditional" crowd happy, personally I couldn't care less either way, it plays well, that's all that matters to me
As already mentioned, the Lazarus has a one piece mahogany neck where the 59 standard has a three piece neck. Otherwise the necks are the same medium C shape. There is no carve difference.
Obviously, but the les paul has transcended being just a signature guitar and has been a staple guitar shape ever since, it's become far more than just a signature guitar. I was referring to signature guitars that are very clearly someone's signature guitar, like zakk wylde's bullseye

Obviously, but the les paul has transcended being just a signature guitar and has been a staple guitar shape ever since, it's become far more than just a signature guitar. I was referring to signature guitars that are very clearly someone's signature guitar, like zakk wylde's bullseye
