LATEST STAR CITIZEN PATCH ALPHA 3.23.1a OPEN PTU
BOREDGAMER GIVEAWAY RULES | / star_citizen_june_2024...
MY SYSTEM SPEC | / boredgamer_system_specs
Star Citizen is an Open Development Alpha Project by Cloud Imperium. It is 2 Games really though, the Persistent Universe that aims to build a First Person MMO Space Sim that encompasses gameplay in ship & on ground, economy and pretty much anything else you can think of. It's built in the StarEngine (a modified Lumberyard Engine). You'll see massive Space Ships that you can fly with friends, land on planets, explore or whatever your way to whatever goal you choose. It's available to try in it's current Alpha State now, you can give feedback & influence the direction of the game BUT it is VERY ALPHA.
Squadron 42 is the Single Player Campaign of Star Citizen & the Spiritual Successor of Wing Commander. The Idea is the game is immersive, cinematic, beautiful & seamless... NO LOADING SCREENS once in game.
Both Games are currently in the Alpha of their development.
I am suspecting to see something more mainstream for Star Citizen's PU by the end of 2024 with permanent progression, though it will be a while after that before the game is considered "feature complete" which would be closer to 2025 in my opinion.
The are no dates for Squadron 42's Release Yet BUT it is now Feature Complete.
I am an Independent Content Creator & Star Citizen Fan. I am not paid by Cloud Imperium HOWEVER I am an Evocati Member and as such I am under an NDA for Closed Early Patch Tests of Star Citizen', known as the Evocati Test Flight (ETF). They occasionally offer me ships for giveaways too, which I will take if they are truely NO STRINGS ATTACHED.

LATEST STAR CITIZEN PATCH ALPHA 3.23.1a OPEN PTU
All your questions are the most leading questions like astoundingly leading questions could you ask her questions where you don't couch the answer in the question?
I dont think anyone should expect a capital ship to be balanced against a light fighter.
a 50 crew dreadnaut should be balanced against at fleet of 50 fighters, if the fighters loaded out for capital hunting. Give or take, say 50%.
@@rakaydosdraj8405
Yeah, but what would make more sense would be to bring heavies and bomber to be more effective against the capital ship. You could also have them escorted by light fighters to defend them against medium and other light fighters that are defending the capital ship.
@@VincenzoThePinguinos yes! point defense to force the bombers to be stratigic, interceptor escorts to force the bombers to bring light fighter secorts... Dynamic game play!
@@VincenzoThePinguinos The math is already made in any space RTS. Figthers are good against light crafts, Fighter Bombers are good against frigates and capital ships.
@@rakaydosdraj8405 I mean this is already known, they already stated that smaller weapons will either do no real damage to larger crafts shielding or armor and hull or its diminished greatly to the point its not even a tickle. Requiring you have to and use larger ships and fleets to take on something like a idris or a polaris and even still people have to realize these ships aren't meant to be alone even if they have some blind spots smaller fighters aren't really going to be able to do much of anything, I mean a large shield currently is 100k hp and with balancing and tuning a lot of this will change, but a capital class shield? I can imagine its going to be a massive jump in what it can handle compared to something like a hammerhead or the perseus.
I think the cargo overhaul should be a bigger priority than xenothreat. Release xeno whenever it's ready whether that is before or after cargo update
"Should" be, but xenothreat is always seen as more exciting than cargo
The problem with “do your research” is that CIG are poor communicators and change things constantly.
In the military, you have the version which you use , but another version that is sold to other nations or other entities that has certain tech not available due to... well... we don't want enemies getting a hold of our best tech. These are usually referred to as export models.
In game, you have the military models that the game use that is for the military and then the stripped version we use. It's practically the same. It just makes sense that the game reflects the real world in this regard.
Military Vs Militia models.
there i simplified your post using only 4 words + 14ish words explaining it.
No, it doesnt make sense, it's a game xD
@@kenkokommandant5992No, the lore has always been that UEE introduced the Civilian Defense Force initiative and allowed all the big manufacturers to produce stripped down versions of the ships they produce for the military for civilians so that civilians can take up arms against the Vanduul
Something it does not do is gimp weapons and weapon placement because it would make it better than another manufacturer. Heck, they don't even nerf weapons because they are too effective.
@@TheAngriestGamer. Now because of his comment i know what the word Malita is, thanks to the both of you
Just got in to SC, joining the new wave of players, I've followed development for years and tried it once about 4-5 years ago. It is so much better now and I'm really looking forward to what's about to come!
Yeah if 1.0 is "live" then it has to be a full reset. At a bare minimum we switch from auec to uec and thus that needs to be reset, I'd imagine.
Xenothreat with out bugs would feel weird
Let's be honest, there are more chances to see a unicorn puking a rainbow in real life than Xenothreat without bugs.
I do kind of like the idea of just getting a hull and filling it out. Make it a project to work on target than just having such a big ship ready to go.
I know early in development there was talk of actually finding abandoned ships while exploring the universe, fixing them up and then flying them home.
That was mainly the Bengal which would have a couple destroyed ones in the verse. You would have to do missions and find other parts to reassemble them as a org. Then the Bengal stays in verse meaning people can take it over if they find and board it. The Idris can be turned into an idris M through missions and vetting also. The Javelin could be downgraded for sure. They never mentioned it being military grade.
ditch xeno, take it to testing to PTU after .2 pushes. Servers are not ready for the Idris with the EG issues.
I imagine some tweaks and optimizations to the RL would make it fine. Realistically the only parts of the ship that really need instancing are what are viewable through the windows and the hangar.
You are wonderful Zin, but you are very very wrong.
The majority of what people are looking forward to is coming in 23.2. No one I know gives a damn about 23.1a and they are specifically waiting for 23.2 before logging in again.
CIG should have skipped 23.1a, pushed out 23.2 then run XT & JT in that patch.
$2750 Warbond, $3000 normal. I'll take all the bells and whistles, please.
Same. Why trivialize backers.
Don't forget the roughly 100 players you need to fully man it!
BoredGamer thank you for this information and your feedback.
From what I can remember back in the days of the concept of the javelin is that CIG basically stated that the ship would come with something like the torpedo tubes and big gun on the back but the guns along the side would not be completely there and the owner of the ship would have to collect the necessary parts in order to build these guns themselves. Also I remember that many backers were quite happy with doing it that way and we're very excited about it.
Also, many of our new backers today are getting some misinformation from other backers because either they don't remember what CIG had said or just had an incorrect viewpoint on the game.
Plus, not to sound like a broken record but people seem to tend to forget that nothing is set in stone yet and the game will go through a lot of balance changing before it is 100% fully released.
In addition, I personally am quite happy with CIG constantly working on the game because what they are doing is always making a new better and more refreshing and the fact that the number of solar systems that are supposed to come with the game are going to take time for them to add overtime and I am quite happy having them doing it because it would give us more space to explore over that same course of time. Please forgive me and sound a bit wordy in that portion of my statement.
The scene of the reclaimer spewing smoke is awesome. Though if they had the ship venting at teh same time it seems just leaving atmo and venting the ship would be easier then fighting all of that fire.
Not all fires need oxygen. Plasma fires don't. While going into a vacuum and venting would put out the majority of fires, it's not a cure all button 😀
If they cant get this .a patch out the door i wont be expecting the cargo patch any time soon.
I just want the item banks in so me and my mates can wear our uniform armor together without risking losing it for an entire wipe...
Item banks are coming in 3.23.2 but they won't be what you're expecting. CIG specifically said on Spectrum that recovery for pledged gear/gear from hangars isn't implemented yet.
@@feral_fenrir That doesn't mean they won't do it eventually though, correct?
@@theirregulatorthey said it’s planned eventually yes, its wack it isn’t coming out immediately though
Unbelievable that it’s been this many years and they still can’t figure it out. I’m beyond caring about people duping pledge gear. Once and done per patch is unacceptable, but obviously they don’t care.
@@theirregulator CIG has claimed they would be working on unique item recovery for the past 6 years now, so I honestly wouldn't get my hopes up.
i personally think they want to push those big events like xenothreats and jumptown to surf on the recent popularity of the game with mainstream streamers like Summit, to give them content and bring in more people in . More so than metrics but that may be just me .
honestly with the cost + crew requirement of the javelin it should come with all the bells n whistles needed to make it minimally viable like that, glad its not bare bones 😅
Or spend a couple grand without due diligence.
Part of that cost is that it's supposed to be an "Org Ship" sense the crew would be like half a server at the moment. Means a bunch of people chip in. Yes one account owns it, but you can't operate that ship without 20ish people effectively
Clearly to solve your Desk situation, you should just stack up 50 layers of cardboard from all the other moving... Better unpack quick!
Wouldn't be better to release the hangar and keep going on than being stuck with Xenothreat?
Did you know if you say hello lovely zin backwards it's niz ylevol olleh?
That's good to know

@@jbirdmax lol i booted 4 i think
I mean, for a ship the magnitude of the javelin, it not coming battle ready out of the box seems fair, but I agree they need to make stuff like that clear to the customer considering how much it is for a ship in a videogame
Seems fair? So if you were able to go buy a Ferrari and it came without the transmission and 2 of the tires would you consider that a fair buy 😆 Come on now. We also don't go buy a new car and ask the dealer " Does it come with all the parts or even function?"
@@jasonsolano8337 fr looool bruh i was thinking buying my dream capital ship and hear this. i would be upset lol. imagine a destoryer having no component whatsoever lol
@@RalphFulton-nm2dl I mean let's be real. The fact that we spend this kind of money on a ship in a video game is kind of ridiculous and I get that. So with that in mind I don't think it's unfair to say the last thing we should worry about is if a capital ship is going to work as a capital ship should for that investment. lol
@@jasonsolano8337 considering in real life you buy a tank outside of some cases the main cannon is usually disabled, its also extremely expensive for fuel and to maintain, ontop of that fighters are the same way if you can get one its very barebones outside of rare cases.
Most of the systems are removed, weapons disabled and removed.
The fact they allow people to own such things with weapon systems is astounding, while for businesses and security forces it makes sense with some restrictions, for civlians in general outside of basic weapons systems etc it does not.
Speaking of unarmed, i wish they would add some weapons to the SRV.
If someone needs a tow it's likely due to pirate attacks, and i at least want to have the feeling that i can do something about it. 🙂
Then you hire an escort.
Tow truck in rl wouldn't be an armoured vehicle (outside a warzone). Tow truck driver gets hassle they go get a cop escort.
SC is the same. You want to pick up a tow from a hostile environment, you get a combat capable escort.
Not all tows will be pirate related. With wear and tear on components, I suspect a lot of tows will just be someone's either skimped, or forgotten to repair a component, and the reactor or an engines gives out etc, needing a tow back to a station.
And... even if they gave the SRV weapons, it would be 2x size 2s or a twin size 2 turret or something. Ie largely ineffective
I enjoyed Planet Crafter so much. Just chilling, not stressing about any AI stuff hunting you and seeing everything transform, FAN-TAS-TIC!
Honestly, I won't be buying any more ships until they fix the ships I have bought.. lol
atleast for you there is something to fix, I am basically on a full loaner loadout with none of my ships in the game yet. Waiting on that Orion for almost 10 years now.
I keep hearing about Star Citizen becoming mainstream and I get worried because stuff that goes mainstream has a nasty habit of burning up
Xenothreat is the shell of an illusion of a fun, server-wide event but it never works correctly and always screws the server performance across the board. Xeno Threat = Big F'ing Eye-Roll and a hearty "Here we go again." It's always just a buggy mess and a waste of my time. I don't even feel like we contribute data for the improvement of the game. They could be more forthcoming with data and success stories from XT. It shows up, breaks the game and then it goes away and we hear nothing. It would be nice if they gave a review. Maybe they do but I've never cared about XT. SOO is fun when it works. JT is a joke with no real money on the line. they have a way of killing all the fun.
Alpha dipshit
100% Correct. Xenothreat is not worth the focus.
Inb4 "xEnOThReAt WorKS fInE FoR Me"
I experienced a xeno that that worked, though only for the first evening and it was amazing fun. There after the missions were broken and it was a desync mess
Like a curated, guided tour of Junktown.. "OH no.. look out.. there's a DANGEROUS drug smuggler.. "
It makes perfect sense for the Javelin to not come fully loaded with military spec modules, you're paying for the Javelin itself which is an absolute power house of a ship. I'm sure it will still be even with a basic loadout.
With modularity being proven possible, it could make sense to have sections of ships like the Javelin and Idris be de-milled rooms/etc. with the ability to seek out and swap for proper military versions of them. Like, no railgun on the civilian variant, but the ability to possibly remove the railgun and relevant components from a military one and get it bolted on to yours. Might even be interesting to have a system where certain ship weapons and components are illegal in certain areas without the proper licenses.
The idris already has this. The civvy version doesn't have the spine mounted rail gun. Thats why you have the Idris M and P versions.
maybe one day ill be rich enough to care if it comes equipped
You will need a huge org to run properly a Javelin plus will cost you a ton of resource and credits. Just one more thing @BoredgamerUK iirc the Javelin will not despawn from PU when you log out or they change this instance?
The Javelin will despawn when you log out. You’re thinking of the Bengal Carrier, CIG are not selling them for cash, but we should be able to find one in game.
Speaking of devs that love their games, go look at how solo devs talk about their games etc. They love talking about it and sharing their enthusiasm about it.
I saw a transcript of that conversation with Yogi. I am not bothered by weapon balancing discussion as I know a lot of that is waiting for armor, maelstrom, and other systems. What I am concerned with is that Yogi was saying that ship combat still feels too fast, like the flight speeds still feel too fast. Ships, 930 years into the future feel too fast. With the rate they are going we will have a WWI flight simulator with a space skin on it...
Like the quick update on the status of the patches, thanks!
Having participated on several events like xeno threat in the past teached me to avoid those events until server meshing is a thing. Each and every event turns into a slideshow with massive desync.
They should have another full reset to test if the ship price changes are good or need further adjustments before 1.0. Actually, they failed in resetting it with 3.23.1 when they did the changes.
Their whole reasoning behind wipes are to gather economic data, to see how people are making and spending aUEC to see what to tweak first. It's all been ruined by dupes. I would think there'd be another wipe soon because of this but who knows lol
My opinion is they didn’t want to full wipe twice in the same year (upcoming 4.0). They’ll definitely do a full wipe for 4.0.
@andyandreson3989 taken with the usual grain of salt, 4.0 is supposed to drop Q3 this year anyways
@@andyandreson3989 Wipe at 4.0 is ok.
@@awesomeface478 Maybe for Citizencon perhaps
I'm exhausted at this point. I'm just tired of being strung along by hype and otherwise zero or little communication regarding where we're at with this.
If we are going with the idea of realism, there would be only 2 normal ways to acquire a Javelin: pirate or large corporation. In either case, it would be as well armed as the military version, possibly better as the military works on a mass production principle while a corporation sees it as a symbol of their abilities.
I think Zin is spot on (as usual) about how passionate SC devs are as opposed to other games. Makes it much more interesting to watch what they are doing and what they have to say.
I agree with Xinya I thionk we do see the passion and honesty in the interviews on the inside star citizen and star citizen live.
If you look at another space game like Elite Dangerous, most ships come flyable, with basic core components and a couple of weapons to get you by, I wouldn't expect a capital ship like the Javelin to come fully fitted.
Well, I dont own a Javelin… though I really love the design and understand the concerns, it feels nice to not be part of the people who have to worry for once 😅
I appreciate that the time-stamps/markers for this video are accurate. Thanks! And thanks for the news...I was starting to think I had missed Xenothreat.
$2500 aside, having certain powerful capital ships come as just hulls with no components is a great idea. Make the components rare and difficult to obtain, so that you have to do quests / missions to gradually, at great effort, obtain them. Great opportunities for gameplay with a giant reward at the end. The ship would mean so much more if you had to struggle to build it, piece by piece.
CIG really needs to get some help cutting the strings of dependency on events.
The game really doesn't handle them well.
I work from home, have for years. During out last move, I had to build a makeshift desk out of packed boxes while my desk took a week to arrive. It wasn't nice, but it worked!!
is there a link for trhe javelin post discussing what it comes with?
I'm kinda looking forward to seeing a inside star citizen, fully inside star citizen with disco's character they revealed at the end of the last ISC
Javelin owners should definitely get at least a full loadout of weapons and components for the money they spent, especially if components will be difficult to get in game
I hope 3.22.2 fixes some of the personal inventory stuff. Switching between the new loot menu and the old screen is pretty painful, and sometimes just doesn't work.
I love that it is going forward now xD, i remember standing 3 hours in the rain to just see the hangar reveal xD
With that cargo, they should give people a choice whether they want to load/unload it manually and earn more cash or automatically (which would take some time) and earn less cash when they pay some loading/unloading fee.
As far as I understood the 'military tech' is supposed to be unavailable for players unless they loot it from a wreck. There is 'military grade' but I thought it was still slightly less capable than the actual military components. Although that was the impression that I got when I pledged back in 2014 so it's probably changed a few dozen times since then.
I think it will be cooler if the Jav doesn't come decked out right off the rip. Give people something to work for in game.
I do think that having to develop so many features and worry about balance in the sandbox is madness. But it's also a way to get a feel of what works and what doesn't. The biggest balance to strike is with the pledges and Roberts' vision. Compromise can be good, but too many chefs spoils the soup. Great stuff, Bored n' Zin! Be well, folks! 😉👍
Xenothreat needs to escalate differently. At present, it is nigh impossible to complete the first part of the mission chain if you are not part of a large group or part of an org.
Some solo missions followed by ever growing risks would be better
I think that interest in the 3.23.1a patch has fallen off to such a degree that they won't release the .2 patch for fear of losing any Evocati that are still assisting with the .1a patch.
That's my take on it anyway.
Instead of balances currently i think there should be a bigger focus on adding features players want and server stability. Balances came come sooner if something is super out of wack. Also I'm tired of loosing armor we need the feature to reclaim them! I've had quite a few incidents where I glitched out when i died and my stuff was stuck in a wall or a floor.
The passion of the team seems legit, I just wish it was twice the size so we can get more ships to gold standard. Side note, who thinks they will release a new Reclaimer killer instead of fixing the old girl?
Yea, that's a hefty price tag for something that is virtual. I am a 3D modeler, and you just replicate any model you design as many times as you want almost cost free.
Just for immersion- i wouldn't mind some new bounty/mercenary missions to fight specifically vandul ship incursions. I think that would be fairly easy to add for an alien week. Just get rid of the ai voicelines, and maybe have a wave or 2 ahow up in a location. You could have them pop up as a "raid" on comm arrays or lightly guarded areas like bunkers
So play Planet Crafter to avoid bad xenothreat lag. got it.
I like the idea of it being stripped down but it should have been in the description!
Do you own one?
@pheebs8451 No but I am an early backer
I just hope the cargo refactor comes with some automation. Filling a large hauler by hand sounds super boring.
I hope the javelin releases end of this year with SQ42 being so close and a lot of the ship being modeled and textured.
I´m with Zin on this - if you buy a $2500 concept ship - you should know what have been said about the ship. And to be fair - could that not just be a goal/mission once it goes live - to find and equip the components. Maybe start with a very low level set of components to just barely get it moving?
On another topic - master modes... I understand what they want, but it is really fiddly/confusing atm. Sure, switch between energy-prio between weapon/flight if you want to - but parhaps leave scanning etc. out of it. It´s just irritating atm.
I just really dont want the cargo update to suck. The deep dive into organazing the logistics for an entire merc bunker tour or just hauling some cargo is really interesting to me
Big ships released/delivered without guns and with basic components, that is interesting idea.
With the unenjoyable state of mastermodes I hope 1.0 is still awhile off. It needs sooo much more "tuning" since flight is a major part of the game. FPS is getting pretty close, the only thing i would ask for is some FPS enemies outside bunkers so it feels like you actually have to fight your way in and not just shoot 1-4 turrets.
I don't mind that the javelin will be equipped with weapons and stuff, you would still need aaaaaall the people to be actually effective. It would just be a pain for the people to equip it with it. Insurance gonna change aswell, expecting that it will not go in favour for big ships, so it will be fine.
The freelancers have 3 shieldgenerators (size2)!!! Somehow nobody recognized this change.
@boredgamer I love your positive vibes on this game. Thank you
I feel like CIG should focus more on the cargo patch than on the Xenothreat event. keep up the good work BoredGamer.
Something like a Javelin should be overwhelmingly powerful, it should be a massive investment to kit it up and require tons of manpower to utilize, once you have it loaded up it should be a monster, but forcing an org to work together to get it combat ready is a great way to give that org a more intimate knowledge of the ship they'll be maintaining
That was my plan when I bought mine. My current org/group has two polaris' and soon an idris as an escort for our javelin. If I can get an idris with warbobd during IAE.
I can see the bonuses and co-op capabilities with a jav coming stripped, personally I think if you own a 2,500$ ship, you should work for *something* to keep the gameplay fun
I started star citizen two weeks ago. The event was fun and I met some nice people through it, but server issues are tough sometimes. Hopefully 4.0 will fix that hehe
Thanks for the rundown with the latest goings on, good lck with the move!
CIG have been very clear about the load out of the Javelin. It should be flyable and have their base components but no I don't think it should have a military weapon load out.
I am not happy with all this delays, not because of the delays itself, because of all this missing ship reworks. They tell us, a lot of capicities are shifted from SQ42 to SC ... But where is the output of this? Waiting for 600i and a good reworked Conny ... So urgently needed, like lot of other things.
Nonetheless I’m ready for the next upcoming update and to take on XenoThreat once more.
Thanks BG for the update on what’s going on.
14:00 a 1.0 release within "a year or two" of 4.0 is VERY optimistic, especially if 4.0 somehow manages to come out within this year. We'd barely have 2 star systems and a huge backlog of ships still in concept, not to mention that most of the current flyable ships still need a gold-standard pass. There just wouldn't be enough there to justify a 1.0 release.
within a year is not feasible unless things go near pefectly, maybe within 2 years and thats optimistic assuming some hiccups, I'd say roughly 3-4 years makes sense
Do you have the source for this Javelin post?
everyone is worried about javs and the like but i just want my gladiator to be brought up to a modern standard... it still doesn't have suspension yet.
New house, no desk..., so we have a FlooredGamer session
I don't have one but I do not think it will come without a basic load-out. Like others have said the modular aspect of those ships could bring alot of game play, specifically for the Idris as its sold as a demilitarized version.
Looking forward to the cargo ... but I hope they sort the "storing" and cargo grid in spacecrafts in order ... Now I have a lot of ghost cargo on my Vulture ... really annoying (not gamebreaking though)
I kinda wish they would get more focused to get these updates out, it seems like everything drags on. Thanks for all the videos
As much as i would LOVE to snag a Javelin.....my budget will probably Never allow one, unless i won a lotto of some kind
A should have been pushed out once the fixed the bug that kept a good portion of people from playing.
I don't know if I just keep getting unlucky with but the servers have been unplayable lately. Elevators not working, asops not doing what it should, ffs even the docking collars still don't work.. Everytime I try to take out my 890jump from the space station the docking collar won't extend to it... Imagine actually spending money on that ship and then not being able to take it out of a station...
I think they should have an option to get the military version of the javelin like they did the Idris.
Cargo is really the only thing im looking forward to in the upcoming future, hope we'll get it soon
I would agree about doing research about buying a ship, but to be fair CIG can be awful at communicating their plans and have been known to suddenly change them. My expectation is that it'll be a "bare bones" ship, but still enough to do fly it away from the station with room to "upgrade" like most ships currently sold. Or perhaps it'll go through a similar evolution like the Idris where at some point the current Javelin is removed and a "Peacekeeper" version of the Javelin gets sold. (But my guess would be the former.)
If they are using XT to test something other than XT, that's great. I just don't want to get burned out on buggy, barely functional XT events.
I would agree that CIG seems to care. They have spent the better part of decade making this new thing and I can only imagine how much they appreicate the community that has stuck with them. It wouldn't work if they didn't engage and care like they do.
If Xenothreat came out at the same day as Alien Week that would be ironic xD
Thanks for the updates
Thanks for the updates BG & Z 👍
I've been under the impression that the Javelin will be stripped down this whole time lol
I’m quite concerned that the game will not have a viable cash sink (In game - not real world).
I always thought that the cost of running and maintaining our ships, our personal gear and ourselves will give us a very good reason to go out and make UEC. But if everything is just going to be respawnable and/or dirt cheap, then what will be our real purpose of playing? What will drive us?
yeah thats only for now, but it will probably lighten up regardless from the original idea becuase of how many players there will be and so on, theres also going to be crafting and so on, the economy team really needs to provide a plan by 4.0 to at least give an idea of the balancing for all of that they have in mind and what could be coming or not coming.
I have no problem with a combat mode and a travel mode. But the current flight model is seriously screwed up.
