Yay! Been waiting for this video to come out for a while now. We met you on that same ferry. We saw your RV and the name and we looked you up. Subscribed to your channel in the parking lot while we were waiting to get on the Ferry. Glad the trip went well for you and I’m glad you enjoyed Trap Pond State Park. We live just a few towns south of there (just across the state line). Cant wait to see where y’all head next.
I’m glad your trip was a success, because mine was not so much. We were driving up I-29 north of Omaha NE towards Sioux City and when we crossed a bridge, the other side had an extremely low rough area that was probably 4-6 inches lower than the rest of the highway. If we hadn’t been towing the trailer with our Durango, it probably wouldn’t have mattered, but it slammed the suspension hard and shattered the muffler. The muffler then began blowing hot exhaust out the side towards the plastic gas tank and melted the strap and heat shield into the tank and made a hole in the tank at the halfway point. I had just refilled, so we lost a half tank of 91 octane, but we didn’t blow up. All we could do was keep moving to keep air moving past. At that point we thought the tank might have cracked, because we didn’t know it had melted. It was too hot to get underneath and check for damage. In the meantime, the passenger floorboard was getting hot and ended up blistering my fiancé‘s foot so badly that her entire heel is one blister. Our one vacation of the year isn’t completely ruined, but it sure puts a damper on things. It means no lake, and very little walking. Also in the meantime, there’s no driving anywhere and we have to get a ride from other people while we’re waiting to get our truck back. I’m supposed to be kidding he used fuel tank from a junkyard by tomorrow and the new muffler is supposed to be installed by this afternoon. I don’t know if I’ll be able to find anyone to install the fuel tank before we go home, so we may be refueling every 50 miles on the way home. P.s. there is no expectation of privacy in public, so don’t worry if you catch someone in a video.
@@frankieamsden7918 I have a cousin that is taking the last fuel line clamp off now. The new tank is sitting next to me, and the muffler was replaced yesterday. This vacation has been extremely expensive and stressful
So sorry to hear that you had such a rough trip. Even though there may be some moments that make you question whether RV'ing is worth it, we think that in the long run the happy memories far outweigh the "challenging" moments. We've had our old tow vehicle break down on the highway while towing as well as some trips spent sitting in a Ford dealership versus hiking in Acadia...
My parents and grandparents used to go camping at Trap Pond in the 1950s and '60s. By the time I came along in the late 1960s, they had stopped pulling their trailers and kept them in one spot, so I missed out on that fun.
You saved 166 miles by taking the ferry and probably over 3 hours of road travel by the 90 minute boat trip. Good deal on price when you look at it that way and a fun adventure.
Lots of jug handles in the Burlington part of Vermont too! Shelburne has two, colchester and essex I can think of quite a few. Theres even two right by UVM. Have only seen them in burlington metro area though nowhere else in Vermont
@@LuvSubbin yes jug handle here too. Shelburne theres a very prominent one right as rt7 ends and it goes from 2 lanes to 1. It has the exact sign in jersey too "left and U turns" sign

Have you taken any of the ferries between Vermont and New York with your airstream? They pack you in super close also. Lots of 18 wheelers and ambulances on the plattsburgh to grand isle one
We have not taken the ferry with our Airstream (truck only). Maybe someday... I think we went a little farther north and took the bridge the last time we went that route.
What month did you take ferry? We’re planning an Oct crossing. If goes well then winter as well to get to Florida. btw the 2 hr pre and post high tides good info👍

The Grand Isle Vt Ferry ( right above Burlington) to Plattsburgh NY is a great 15 min crossing. Gets you to Adirondack- Lake Placid area.
