    BACKPACKING TURKEY 🇹🇷 EPISODE 3
    I've moved out of the hostel into an Airbnb now and today was entirely a work day! As a UA-camr, I have a lot of admin and editing work to do so join me on this day in the life working online in Galata in Istanbul. I checked out a few new cafes in town and we got very wet along Istiklal street.

    ABOUT ME🙋🏻‍♀️
    I'm Christianne, a solo traveller, vlogger and entrepeneur from Surrey, UK. I spend half my time exploring new places around the globe with my backpack, and the other half creating videos about my experiences, what I'm packing, solo travel advice, money budgeting tips and anything else in relation to my backpacking lifestyle.

    FAQ's
    How do you afford to travel? - I now earn a full time living through creating these UA-cam videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. I used to simply just work any temporary job I could find to save up to travel! I budget the money I earn meticulously to reach my savings goals using www.backpackingbananas.com/pr...
    Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
    Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

    I am enjoying these first two videos tremendously! You are so engaging and such a pro!! I followed you through Mexico and Colombia - countries I've visited - but have never been even near Turkey. The Grand Bazaar was fabulous! I so look forward to seeing more! Be safe. How discouraging it is to see masks everywhere but it seems like the pandemic is not deterring the locals.

    Istanbul was definitely a pleasant surprise for me, didn't have any expectations really. But it has it all.
    The only thing that I didn't expect was the massive security, haven't anything like it.

    I'm so glad to see you in my country and also my city. I strongly suggest that you should see the part of Turkey which is placed Aegean costs. These times there will be more empty and calm places than istanbul or other metropolis. But nature and foods are tremendous.
    Enjoy the cheapness of currency :/
    Be safe and enjoy your trip! :)

    I bet that man at the laundry was smiling because you're business to him. Turkey is going through a currency crisis. Every lira means everything right now I bet.
    Great locations! And, I really liked that multiple currency table for the prices. You had mentioned having slow connection speeds at the cafe you were posting up. In general, are you finding reliable internet connection speeds reliable? Fast, ok, or slow? Thanks again! New subscriber.

    • @BackpackingBananas

    I hope you saw a bit of the real and cool Istanbul too because so far it looks like you’ve only been to touristy places and even there you didn’t seem to find any of the nice cafes and restaurants. I genuinely hope you didn’t miss out because if this is pretty much what you did then you need to go back and get recommendations from a local for a completely different experience!

    Welcome to Turkey. 🙋‍♂️ In my humble opinion, wherever you go, first you find someone by you. This is reducing your viewer ratio. If you try everything on your own, you will reach maximum viviers like other solo youtubers. P.S: This doesn't mean you can't have a partner, but he/she waits in room or hostel, allowing you to live your adventure alone. If you choose the easy way, more success would not come. Safe travels! 🙏

    • @BackpackingBananas
      @BackpackingBananas  2 роки тому +8

      I’m just documenting what happens and who I meet when I travel solo 😅 if I started hiding people or doing things for the sake of views, it wouldn’t be as authentic and I wouldn’t enjoy myself as much, which in my humble opinion, is pointless. Thanks for sharing your views though

    Wow laundry is really expensive but We Turks never do laundry in a laundry shop. Everybody have a washing machine in their home. So that's not a problem for the price for Turks. But it's really expensive for foreigners whom works for Turkish Lira in Turkey.

    I have been living in Beyoğlu for 15 years. Beyoğlu experienced a great change in the early 2010s. Istiklal Street has also turned into a big shopping mall with these developments. Previously, there were local shops and venues in place of Mango, H&M, etc. Even if you come as a tourist, have you ever thought of at least learning a little about the recent history and current political situation of the places you visit? Especially if you are a UA-camr. There's a reason everything seems cheap to you. I am a former resident of Galata, it is not possible for me to live in the places you stay and eat lunch at the places you eat. It wasn't like this 5-10 years ago. I've been watching the Istanbul visits of foreigners like you a lot these days, and all of you have the same disconnect. I'm sorry, but they're all garbage vlogs, zero real information... It's easy to make money from UA-cam and make vlogs full of such superficial information.

    • @BackpackingBananas
      @BackpackingBananas  2 роки тому +3

      While I agree that there is still so much I can learn about the destinations I visit, the history, the culture, the politics, I’m not an encyclopaedia, I’m just a regular backpacker sharing my experiences visiting a city for the first time. If you don’t like the video, please just don’t watch ☺️ It may be a garbage vlog to you and that’s okay, you gotta understand that not every video is going to appeal to you because perhaps you are not the intended audience. I hope you can recognise that and be a bit kinder in your comments in the future ❤️ sending good vibes your way 🙏🏼
