This breaks my heart!! This is the only place my family has vacationed for the past 4 years. The first year we stayed we fell in love. Sadly the cottage we stayed in the first year, i don’t see anymore😞 The 3 years after that we stayed at The Vue which I see at the 39 second shot of this video is still standing. This is just devastating!! It’s weird to just see sand where I know a building used to be. My prayers are with everyone in this BEAUTIFUL place!! I hope everyone is safe. Houses and buildings can always be rebuilt. As long as you are able to see your loved ones another day it will all be okay. As catastrophic as it all seems, it will get better
Great job here on your first hand incredible coverage !! Thank God for the evacuation warnings and the safety of men women children and pets! I’m so happy to see those who survived it alive to be Thankful they did! I saw the couple who survived in such debri only shielded by a desk That speaks volumes to me angels over them !
Thank you so much for the footage of our beloved community. I know everyone wants to see their own special part of town...including me. so frustrating that all the footage I've seen has focused on the canal area and then turned around and gone back that way again. If you go back....there is much more to MB that is near and dear to many hearts...could you continue down across HWY 386?
If you can get down to 2nd Street and show the area would really help. We own the fourth home in from 98 (if still) there. We still have a little hope that it is still there, but no footage of this area yet. Any help would be very appreciated!
How terribly sad to see the destruction left behind by Michael. Prayers and best wishes to everyone affected. May God keep you in the palm of his mighty hand.
Its incredible that some of the houses look completely unscathed amongst all of the other devestation. I assume those are newer construction/different standards and codes but it is really striking.
I'm safe and sound hundreds of miles away from the storm. this video and others have me in shock. I pray for everyone who has suffered this storm. I think back to Katrina. the levee breaking caused the most damage but this? I cry.
You can see which buildings were built to code and which one's weren't. Most of the three and four story apartments and condos are still there. They may have no windows and extensive water damage but they still stand. The other homes and properties are slabs. It's really amazing. Some of it's luck depending on which angle they sat in relation to the wind. You can see that Michael was no joke and without question one of the most powerful hurricanes to make landfall in the US.
panthera50 you suck. It doesn’t matter when there is 155+mph winds and 20ft wall of water. I like to see your house survive that, oh wait, it won’t! Lol
It's really sad that alot has forgotten about Hurricane Michael My family went through this Monster Hurricane Michael It destroyed our county It look a bomb went off .We lost our house We had a start all over again . Our house had Roof and water damage Mold and mildew .I'm born and raised here in Panama city FL and never went through this Monster Hurricane Michael and I hope not to go through anything like ever again
Amazing how soon this storm was forgotten. One of few Cat 5 storms to ever make US landfall in recorded history. Just a few years later only those of us that went through it seem to remember. Forgotten Coast, Forgotten Storm!
The only plus side to all this destruction is when Mexico beach is rebuilt it will have to all meet the new building codes. A lot of those old places were falling apart anyway. The bad thing is the old weak buildings fed a lot of flying debris during the storm causing other buildings to fail.
It actually does look exactly like tornado devastation, except for the much wider swath. I bet the people that stayed are either rethinking their decision to remain, or dead.
I was at Mexico beach this summer but this doesn’t look familiar. There are no huge hotels there, the road is two lane and closer to the ocean. I’m wondering where this video clip was taken.
looks like a massive quake just happened. .total devastation 😢why bother building there again,,itl only happen again. .each year will get worse worldwide. . :(
yikes it reminds me to much of Mississippi's Gulf coast after Katrina....i know there were be more strong hurricanes but i didnt know the damage would get on Katrina Mississippi level for a long long long time....guess i was wrong...seems hurricanes are becoming more severe and common...
Anything that is left standing will more than likely have damage too. The whole area will just be leveled and doubt anyone could inhabit that area for some time. It will be built back with highrise condos and people will be priced out of living or vacationing there again.
American Patriot if ppl were smart easy answer number one know the future before having pets in a hurricane area number two want a pet? that pet is part of your family like they see you as a family and they only know you number 3 take them with you how hard is to understand that?
most of this could have been minimal damage if they build to a hurricane code like we have been doing in Broward county for over 60 years somehow they thought that no hurricane would ever hit them time to rethink your building code
everyone has footage of the beach and the canal but those are mostly rental properties residents live on the northside of 8 in neighborhoods like between 7th and 1st geargie, maryland and florida streets NOBODY is showing those areas
Wondering if those houses were older and not off the ground high enough. Cannot tell and video not all that clear. I know that area rarely has hurricanes so could be lots were not up to newer codes. Looks like water destroyed a lot of them, because too low or build on the ground. I live close to the ocean also and seen lots of hurricanes.
Insurance companies cover that? If yes then Insurance companies could bankrupt and if not then these individuals will get bankrupt. Life won't be the same.
Maybe b. HUSSEIN 0bumble can send an unmarked aircraft with billions of dollars in foriegn currencies, in cash. Just so long as he does it in the middle of the night and to a hostile government.
Holy shit. Welcome to the new norm of climate change. I bet the designs of buildings will change to withstand these, steel dome houses and buildings. Good luck to everyone there.
@@notmanynamesleft Yes. Leave it in ruins. They never should have built there in the first place. Beaches and flood plains are the dumbest places to build but there are a lot of dummies in the world.
No one is saying it isn't heartbreaking. Scientists and Meteorologists have talked about for years that building along the ocean where hurricanes are likely to occur will eventually face this type of devastation. It's only a matter of when. Just because the Panhandle has never been hit like this doesn't mean it wouldn't happen. They have only been keeping weather data since that late 1800's. Not even 150 years. That is a very small sample size. The Allstate commercial with Dennis Haysbert where he says they say something is a 100 or 500 year event like happened in Houston keep happening a lot more frequently than predicted.
All of these people should have insurance, so i dont feel bad. I know that the people that lived in that place that they all got out. But the internet wants your money so keep giving them money when you could give that money to your kids. Some times things happen for reasons.... Enjoy!
If you have dealt with insurance lately you might discover that you really don't have insurance. A quote from my insurance company, "the premiums you pay don't include making claims" That means in layman's terms, we are not paying you a dime. After hurricane sandy storm surges flooded homes to the roofs, the homeowners had flood insurance but that was not a flood, it was wind blown water so no coverage for the homeowner, the same will happen here.
They need to let the fire department come in and do a control burn and get this cleaned up it would be faster then taken it to the dumpI know what about pollution it probably won't be polluted but just a couple days I know what some of you saying is this guy for real yes I am for real and I'm not joking
Thank you for sharing one of my favorite towns in the state. I'm heartbroken to see the level of devastation. My heart goes out to all who live there.

I am so sorry this has happened. You're in my thoughts.
If it makes you feel any better the dollar tree down the Rd is in good shape.

Its incredible that some of the houses look completely unscathed amongst all of the other devestation. I assume those are newer construction/different standards and codes but it is really striking.
Thank you for sharing this.
I presume the random houses still standing were built to the most recent code? If so, what a difference.
What's the point having a house still standing when everything around you is destroyed
Darcy McFarlane you don’t have to rebuild it? Once the surroundings are rebuilt the remaining surviving buildings will be worth more money.
@steve b OK man, whatever. Good luck.
David Lynch no they were just lucky, hurricanes have been known to destroy and skip kinda like a tornado.
I'm safe and sound hundreds of miles away from the storm. this video and others have me in shock. I pray for everyone who has suffered this storm. I think back to Katrina. the levee breaking caused the most damage but this? I cry.
Please try to get video of Port St Joe also
Good work Brett! I hope I am about to head down to help these people. Y'all be careful.
Incredible destruction....thanks for sharing this video.
I knew it would be bad but that is just total anihilation. There's nothing left. Tragic does even come close.

Your coastal defences suck, your dunes suck, and your building sucks.
And then people complain about this happening ? how weird can you be ? O_o
Would a concrete block house hold in this hurricane ?

Forgotten Coast, Forgotten Storm!
Unbelievable. Definitely Storm Surge destruction. (For the most part)
an incredible hurricane ... accompanied by tornadoes? Hard to believe. Prayers to all in your recovery.
Shocking
How do you come back from such a mess?
How can you rebuild this carnage ?
Wow!
The only plus side to all this destruction is when Mexico beach is rebuilt it will have to all meet the new building codes. A lot of those old places were falling apart anyway. The bad thing is the old weak buildings fed a lot of flying debris during the storm causing other buildings to fail.

What's with the 360p quality though?
to stop people ripping it off
It almost looks like a tornado tore through there! Omg these poor people
140+ mph gusts will create EF 3 tornado equivalent damage, just so all the conspiracy theorists out there know why the destruction is so severe.
There were probably 175+ gusts here. Also, some is surge damage which can be more severe.
Anything that is left standing will more than likely have damage too. The whole area will just be leveled and doubt anyone could inhabit that area for some time. It will be built back with highrise condos and people will be priced out of living or vacationing there again.
I think archangel Michael is trying to state something here.
No words...
I hope all pets are safe
