This footage was made from our condominium “Summerhouse” in Mexico Beach. Our condo was on the floor below where this footage was taken. The blue house at the beginning of the footage was one of the places that we had vacationed at several years before. Fortunately for our family, we had moved back to Tennessee before Hurricane Michael. To this day, I don’t believe that the majority of people truly realize the devastation that this Hurricane brought to the Florida Panhandle. It’s like it’s been forgotten by the media.

I was in Hurricane María in Puerto Rico last year, and when the eye wall passed closest to my home it was a strong Category 3 Hurricane and Michael looks worse when they have to retreat in the video. There was devastation in Puerto Rico but most of our homes are made of concrete. While I survived Yolanda 194 mph winds my neighbors tied down a Nipa hut with barbed wire and the hut survived the storm this would help all wood homes they would need 4. 3 meter long cement posts with hooks buried in the soil but just needs a strong spiderwebbed rope for the roof and tied to the posts however all homes should be by law built with cement in flood zones or areas that get damaged by storm surge so they can be hosed down after the storm....
Why are they concerned about a dress??? Didn't they say a WOMAN was in a house, and now there's nothing there?? I guess people are replaceable. But not a Wedding Dress
I live in Central Florida. The weather was overcast in my area the day Micheal hit. I had to go to school; things were perfectly normal. I turned on the news, and Michael’s destruction was like watching a horror movie! Didn’t know Micheal was that severe!
That hurricane was scary, not a lot of people where I lived took it too seriously. I watched my neighbors houses get destroyed and trees crashing down and roofs flying... The wind was really intense, and my screen door flew into my neighbors window......

I pity those without insurance but living in such areas u got to think of Insurance B4 hell breaks loose .. I don't know what pple of California are thinking to get insurance B4 our package gets here also ...sorry Florida families. I love u dear ones .
Even so, there's usually a clause, and Gov has been coming in taking properties, like in California. Cali homes insured but did not cover their cement or brick that mysteriously turned to dust. If homes were built safe as they are only permitted to build unsafe, we wouldn't need insurance.
Know people can see clearly the devastation of the Tropical Islands residents suffer each year. Its heartbreaking all this massive destruction. The world its cleaning itself...
The thing is: hurricanes hit the coasts all the time. With global warming, the storms are just going to get worse. People keep rebuilding in these storm zones then expect government assistance when yet another hurricane happens. I don't build my house on top of a volcano...
Since they haven't had bad hurricanes in decades they stopped building homes on stilts. Most of the homes in Mexico Beach are built on slabs and are mere yards from the Gulf of Mexico.
In 92 me and my family lost everything we owned when our home in Florida city(homestead- Miami) was literally blown away( concrete block btw) and literally couldn't find our street due to NOTHING being there standing as land marks for as far as the eye could see.... It was a cat. 5 and did the same and more damage than Micheal.... Prob. Is it hit an area that was and is not as much in value of homes( waterfront homes in Mexico beach go for 300,000- 3 million) so in monetary comparison.... Yes this maybe costlier.... In AMOUNT of damaged structures... Andrew still was worse I believe.... Both are terrible and horrific.. and not a measuring contest but it is part of living in Florida... I still ouve here and last year was hit here in Ocala by Irma... Which leveled alot from the gulf all the way inland to Ocala ... Part of the deal living here in paradise.... Good with the bad.... Insure well... Pray for the best expect the worst. God bless those who were in harm's way and affected.... And hopefully they will prevail and bounce back

Duricas Thank you for your information.
White people
@@Duricas you sir/ma'am are...well,
well versed in the knowledge of meteorology. we could use more people like you.
My hometown Apalachicola my childhood memories of Mexico beach, oh my gosh, oh my gosh 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I have, or had, family in Chipley, FL. It's right in the path, too... 😟
WOW....devastating :(
Reporters are courageous.
It didn't hit Central florida
OMG! Ginger, r those ppl ok? R U and ur crew ok aft that!?! I hope that house was empty. GOD bless them!
That hurricane was scary, not a lot of people where I lived took it too seriously. I watched my neighbors houses get destroyed and trees crashing down and roofs flying... The wind was really intense, and my screen door flew into my neighbors window......
I wish I would have been in Callaway to see the storm. It was a beauty.
I hope and pray 🙏🏻 🤲 u r okay I'm in brandon fl,east of tampa,we were so blessed but I was born here so I have seen many.none r 😁 God has protected ❤️ us.pray for our people who lost it all😇🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻the grace of God 💟
Hi, Ginger, Thanks for the valuable report. Do you still remember the address of the condo you stayed during the event?
I feel like the news producers didnt care about this lady. Or the film crew. This is not okay
So sad. I praying for the people in Mexico Bch
Mexico Beach sweetheart. But thats ok.
This is heartbreaking.
As storm approaches, Abc news reporter... "Hey i'd like to rent a condo for the weekend. Just down here relaxing, enjoying the nice weather"
In the Sailing Community, the Gulf of Mexico's nickname is the washing machine.
That's interesting tell me why
I was on the edge of it and it’s like a catagory 1 hurricane when your on the edge!
So many people passed away from that storm
How fast was the wind when it blew away the house and low did the air pressure as it went through ?
150 mph + sustained winds, pressure was below 925 i think, correct me if I'm wrong
My hometown. Still isn’t the same…
Troll-err...You've probably never even heard of that place before that little tropical storm hit..Smh..I laid on the beach in my speedo throughout most of that thunderstorm hit..Grow a pair dudeee!
I live in florida and thank god i didnt get a dirrect hit, but i pray for those effected
I live here too I was terrified watching the tragedy,One day 🙃 the SUN WILL 🌞 SHINE AGAIN ✨️ Thank 😊 you Lord for taking care of us😇💟🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🌜
The woman at the end of the report will still get married, I'm sure, but under very different circumstances than she had planned. But for her, someday the sadness and shock will be gone and it'll be a story to tell about what happened to their wedding.
I go to Mexico Beach every year for our family vacation and I'm sad because Mexico Beach probably won't be the same again
"Weaponized Weather"! They Need To Sue The Hell Out Of Those Accountable!!!
Lol you really think they dont got the feds, media, and government in on it?
It will never escalate full control over the people
PRAY For BAHAMAS USA 💒💒 💒💒 💒
👏
Always amused at the things weather reporters describe what’s obvious .
“Like a wash machine “ anyone describe doing their laundry like a Hurricane ?
Poor woman my heart breaks for her, the most important day of her life and her House, wedding-dress and all her belongings washed away😥 horrible, absolutly horrible 😣
Meanwhile elderly people died....but poor bride to be, right?
Scariest thing I've ever endured. Bet you I won't be 'riding it out' next time.
You witnessed someone's life wash away in front of yur eyes im so proud you got yur story. Fuckin Reporter
When ever a hurricane start whistling get to safety..
'
wow big beautifully heavy rainy stormy weathery in east coast, america...
keep continue heavy weather in allday - allnight - everyday - everynight until end of 2022
Put down your bottle of booze and go sober up.
Good on Ginger for keeping it together...that shit is terrifying in real life
I remember being the last plane to leave that day, the turbulence was so bad I though we were going to crash
Wowww this just shows how much news station actually care about their workers!! Who the heck would send someone out to make a video of s storm?
Set up cameras but don’t send people to risk their freaking lives
Where is everyone who was saying fake to everything??
Whats different from last year, or the year before?
God bless you all , be safe 😱🏢😞💒
Who’s randomly watching this in 2022
She compared that hurricane to a washing machine cycle, she must have been inside a washing machine
Hopefully everyone is insured.
If homes were built safe as they are only permitted to build unsafe, we wouldn't need insurance.
w4csc - OK here's another one that knows nothing about anything, while hating and blaming those who are successful.
Been in typhoons in Okinawa. Heres a tip. Build homes with concrete. They will stand.
Cat 5 162 mph 919 barometric pressure this was a scary storm had to watch this again after Hurricane laura August 2020
The most any land area got was about 155. It’s due to friction. The 160 mph was over the water.
Heartbreaking.
I saw Andrew take down a new Home Depot building, pretty amazing for sure.
so nervous..said mexico city..good job ginger
Know people can see clearly the devastation of the Tropical Islands residents suffer each year. Its heartbreaking all this massive destruction. The world its cleaning itself...
Storm was so bad it sent her to Mexico City………
"a well built home"
Michael: Bitch please
The thing is: hurricanes hit the coasts all the time. With global warming, the storms are just going to get worse. People keep rebuilding in these storm zones then expect government assistance when yet another hurricane happens. I don't build my house on top of a volcano...
Saboth this is home to us. You wouldn’t understand unless you lived here. I’m sure you wouldn’t pack up and move because of one storm every 20 years
@@tannermcclellan3021 One of these days, another Katrina will hit though. It’s only getting more and more likely.
Since they haven't had bad hurricanes in decades they stopped building homes on stilts. Most of the homes in Mexico Beach are built on slabs and are mere yards from the Gulf of Mexico.
OH look, finally a cement/concrete American house!
Mexico City??
Mexico Beach, right next to Panama City.
Choose where you live wisely
It’s hitting me right now!! I live in Virginia!
This makes history its like hurricane Katrina!
Don't get married, that storm could be worse than Hurricane Michael!!
And hopefully they will prevail and bounce back
How 👍 🤔 heartbreaking 💔 hope ur okay 👍 now.another Florida. Born here Florida will rise in spite of tragedy 😢. Floridians is a strong state 💪 we wii rise again💟🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Yeah our house was destroyed
And we live in Lynn Haven FL
And on top of that we left
