I'm blown away by the sound of the violins. The quality of the sound is beyond Stradivarius - let's be honest. I wished you showed off the new violin because the design, the varnish is rare brill!
These violins are so powerful. Sure the recording doesn't do them justice. They must sound mind melting. I can imagine them the whole upper body will vibrate while playing them. Poor me playing my cheap violin, haha.
I love her testing repertoire; which demonstrates different attributes of the instruments. The Master Violin Maker has played a few more hours comparing those works of art, but he seems to fuse with The New Masterpiece! (Thanks, that was fun:)
To my ear, that Gypsy one is one of the best I ever heard. Well done. Generally I like the more subdued sound like what I achieve when I put a practice mute on my el cheapo one that sounds like someone put strings on a cigar box.😊
For solo work in a large concert hall, the Gypsy violin is beyond belief (tone and volume), if I do say so myself. :) The nice thing is that everyone else who has heard it, says that also. I have recordings and comparisons, yet haven't got the "release" of rights yet. Hopefully soon!
Great video! The voice of each violin was evident. If I may ask a question? What was the brand of string used on these violins? Was the same brand used on each violin or was the brand chosen to work best with the violin?
All three violins have identical strings: Evah Pirazzi G,D,A and Piastro Wondertone Gold E's. This set was chosen because it seems to be the most popular quality standard for the last 10-15 years. Thanks for asking!
@@kevinleeluthier Thank you for the information. I'm using Evah Pirazzi Gold - with the gold G as those were the 'luthier installed' strings. Watching some videos on violins, they never seem to make mention of the strings or the bow for that matter and don't you think that all the parts have to work together? (Not that I'm in the market for a $70K bow - especially with MY playing). But I can put that combination of strings on my violin and see how my violin reacts. Can't hurt can it?
I believe that the newest violin has more complexity of sound. The Gypsy is more powerful and bold. And the tango is more tender. Had i the option, I would have selected the newer violin. It would be more versatile and would blend better.
You have made my day. They are exactly that way in person. I'm thrilled that you could tell with this recording/video. Thank you so much for letting me know.

I loved watching these two. They know what they’re doing.
I think I favor the Gypsy violin. I’d love to hear her play some Gypsy jazz on it.
I'd take the new one....tone is sweet n warm n not to loud...
I hope that the customer agrees with you! :) Thanks!
@@kevinleeluthier your welcome
This is thee best violin channel on UA-cam
Thank you! And, it's about to get a whole lot better in consistency and quality. :)
Your videos are some of my favorite on youtube, Kevin.

I agree.
Какой Страдивари?Вы что?
Very nice violins and very good job on the comparison. I think that Gypsie is a special violin for sure. Love your vids!

terrific! this is "so real"
Fantastic video, fantastic playing. Exceptional instruments. Bravo.
Definitely the new one with age it’s only going to improve!!🙏🙏🙏
Well done ❤

I agree. I hate playing my student violin with a practice mute. It does sound like someone put metal strings on a cardboard box.
все прекрасно

Можно проверить скрипку. Настройте все струны на 1 тон ниже и если скрипка не потеряла звук, тогда можно будет сказать у вас всё в порядке.
Но я уверен что звук просто пропадёт.
How much did the new violin cost and how much is the last bow?
Oh amazing, you use the gold label E. The violins sound fantastic ... exactly what i was waiting for. Really highlights your instruments

I play on a fine instrument. The first thing many say is how loud it is. I see what they mean now with the gypsy comparison
I like the Gypsy violin but without any design on the back and with a much much much darker varnish.
Is "I heard the voice of Jesus say" Cassidy's first hymn in the comparison?

I have read that any Violin can be modified to extend it's range by swapping out necks,is that true?.
The Tangle seems to be made out of a much much "superior" spruce with much tighter grains, but I don't like the sound of it as much as gypsy.
Дерево не раскрывает звук и это дело мастера.
