Good to know that not everyone NEEDS to use a product to help with exfoliation. Sometimes it will be seasonal, or just during a short-term phase of life. I have gotten into trouble by over exfoliating using too many exfoliating products each day! I just bought the Aveeno product you mentioned and yes it is very gentle on my skin which is removing from damage. Thanks for the great advice and product suggestions!
Thank you! For the longest time growing up I was afraid of skincare and made my skin worse by not even moisturizing out of fear since all the moisturizers I bought had salicylic acid because I was super oily acne-prone, all because my skin can’t tolerate most chemical exfoliants and flares up even more. And patch testing traditionally doesn’t work because an ingredient can be tolerated everywhere-except. on my face! Even on the neck or behind the ear can be fine, but when I put it on my face it’s quickly red, irritated, and extra oily. Now I use retinol and niacinamide as my only actives, and skipped exfoliators on general, and my acne and acne scars are basically gone! Next step: see if I can find an exfoliant I can tolerate to get rid of buildup every once in a while, since my oily skin and easily clogged pores need it.
Thank you so much for this video post! I suffer with rosacea for about maybe 4/5 yrs or so. All these tips on what to get due bc I have sensitive/rosacea skin. I wish you could make a post on how to do a step by step morning/night (or both) routine in how to apply serums, toners, moisturizers, cleaners and retinol in the order it should be done to care for one who has sensitive skin. Thank you again for this video. Much enjoyed it and learned many new things. 💜
Thank you so much for this excellent video which I appreciated since I have very hyper-reactive rosacea prone skin.I am currently using the Aveeno Calm and Restore Nourishing PHA exfoliator. My skin loves it! Dr Jenny please do a video on retinols for sensitive rosacea prone skin. Would like to know more about the different types of encapsulated retinols/retinals on the market which are being recommended for super sensitive skin. Thank you.
im new to skincare (sad but true) so i was trying to look for suggestions... and im so glad you asked upfront if i Need it. i didn't know the face exfoliated itself! but i dont really have any skin problems aside form the odd pimple so i probably dont need to do any kind of exfoliation aside from gentle brushing/rubbing while cleaning it. thank you for saving me the trouble!
Afternoon @drjennyliu is it okay to use an exfoliating cleanser and a liquid exfoliant at the same time 2-3 times a week or either one, 2-3 times a week?😅
Hi Dr. Jenny! I’ve had a pimple scar in the middle of my brows for four months and it feels like there’s still something underneath it but nothings helped it to surface and it just looks like an acne scar. How do I get rid of it?
hello Dr.jenny🙂 thank you for always posting such amazing videos. I had sensitive skin, but with the help of good moisturizer i can tolerate 5% benzoyl peroxide everyday. I saw a study where benzoyl peroxide was combined with 15% azelaic acid gel, and was wondering whats your take on such combination? 🤔
BPO I recommend using as a Cleanser to minimize irritation, and then work similarly as leave on treatment. Certainly you can try the two combine together but irritation is always a concern. However, if you were to use the cleanser, then follow by azelaic acid gel, it should be OK.
Thank you so much for this video, Dr. Liu. I bought the Aveeno Calm & Restore PHA face wash but I was rubbing on my face and I got irritation. So, you said I just apply it over my face, leave it for 3' and rinse it off, is that correct? Thank you for your answer. Also, I wanted to know if a rich cream with glycolic acid could be used with tretinoin. Thanks.
@@dr.jennyliuhi I’m new to exfoliating and nervous about my barrier I use to have nice skin and now have dry skin with rough texture , i bought mandelic acid from almond clear and I also have the ordinary lactic acid 5% which would be best for me ? I’ve tried oil cleansing with using just my hands ,, and I feel that for me it’s too aggressive :/ and I break out when I do that , can you recommend anything ?? Or which of the two are better for dry flaky sensitive skin ? Thank you
Do not use the Some by MI product everyday. It says it is a 30 day miracle cream but no use it once a week like she says. At first it was clearing my acne but then it destroyed my skin barrier and made my breakouts worse. My mistake. I may try it again but not daily.
What is your take on LHA acids? Are LHA better for acne compared to Mandelic or Lactic acids? Just one thing i think worth mentioning, the peel from Grapefruit (Citrus grandis) is loaded with a class of ingredients known as furanocoumarins and coumarins, which are primarily responsible for what’s known as a phototoxic reaction that occurs when skin is exposed to the sun. That is what happend to my skin last year after using a product containing this ingrediens. I guess it's very little of it in the peeling, but still..
I was desperate for exfoliate products , because I thought that everyone needs to not plug our pores. I have pigmentation and some acne marks but I already been using tranexamic acid and is already good . Maybe I don’t need exfoliation 😅
Assuming that you target an International audience, we would really appreciate more reviews on the K-Beauty products/brands as they are affordable and available in many markets.
Guys pls help I had laser hair removal and ever since then my skin is super sensitive, I have rly bad inflammation and worst acne of my life. Have anyone else experienced it and how can I fix this
Im struggling because my skin gets congested seemingly overnight i got w hydrafacial and my pores were clear and i did my home care to follow it up but it seemed my pores filled right back up the next day.. and yet my skin is so sensitive it starts to burn and get irritated whenever i try to use my exfoliating products more often
Yes, same here. I feel strange writing this, as it's clearly an uncontrollable developed accent, however it is nearly intolerable personally, to the extent that I can't focus on or absorb the incredible information delivered.
I like how she arranged lactic acid, mandelic acid, and polyhydroxy acid in order of gentle to gentler.

I started using the Aveeno one and oh wow thanks so much doc! Finally an exfoliate that won’t burn my sensitive skin and works wonders:)

Which one would you recommend best with combination eczema skin?
I just got the Aveeno one. I'm excited to see how it works out for me. Do you have any recommendations for milia prone skin?
Love your videos!! Great information!!

Yes I would use it as awash off. I would avoid glycolic cream with Tret. Is too irritating but you can alternate the two every other night
@@dr.jennyliu Thank you for your response. The Aveeno PHA wash is better to use at nights in liu of the Tretinoin, right? Thanks again.

Nice video! I’ve been contemplating the Peach & Lily lactic serum and think I’ll give 8 a try. 😊
Let me know what you think!!

Hi Dr. Liu, is the drunk elephant serum good to use on the neck as well?
What do you think of YSL pure shot night reboost serum? Is it comparable to drunk elephant serum in this video!?
Very helpful Dr
Hi Dr Liu, could you make a video about high frequency devices please?

Would I only use one of these products as an exfoliate or like combo the cleanser and toner?
You can
