DIYMoon price point is far too high to be shipping these kits out with pride. I'd expect a much better product from this established company.

I do agree with your criticism of the rendering. I thought it was a glove on the hand at first. It does remind me of a more computer rendered picture. You’ll see this sudden change and weird colors often in the bargain pictures and this is not a bargain piece. I love their artists. Many other reviews have expressly noted the color problems. I will hold on purchasing especially with the shipping costs and quality for now. Thank you for the accurate review of the rendering. Peace and love abide with you 💕
Hi Katie, Your critique is fair. When I saw the completed image, my first thought was: what is up with her face? Even the color selection seemed off. One of the reasons I shop at businesses like this vs amazon is the hand rendering. It costs a lot more to purchase here and you expect 1. Artist is compensated 2. Beautiful art, I'm sad the render pulled SO red compared to the original. I do hope DIYmoonshop finds it worthwhile to get someone to finetune the computer renders in the future. Everything I've seen re: how they respond to people and handle customer issues (especially when it comes to rendering/printing issues) makes me uncomfortable buying from them. I really hope that one day Diymoonshop will considerate to do more manual rendering. Not need to be like Dac but juste taking the time to eliminate the unecessary confettis. Alot of new company are doing it but diy stay behind a little bit.

Good morning Katie, love the completed rendering. However, I agree with you. From looking at the original to the completed rendering, in some places the translation wasn't the best. But, overall the completed work is beautiful. Have a wonderful Thursday.
Thanks for your review…I think the example of the woman with the flower veil on is an amazing showing of their older rendering style vs current. It’s a HUGE difference. I would think when they saw that, they would rethink their decision on the changes they made. What a beautiful blending of colors in the older rendering. Makes me sad to see that stark difference 😢

Im also very new to this, I’ve only purchased a couple kits off of Amazon but once I found you’re channel I realized I need to only purchase licensed diamond paintings. Being an artist myself, I’m appalled that I purchased unlicensed art but ANYWAY, needless to say im doing my best to do a lot more research into what kits to buy and from where. I really appreciate you’re honesty in your reviews!

I don't think the issue with this kit is the computer rendering but the lack of colors. Having 30 something colors for a piece this detailed is ridiculous. This is why the blending is practically non existent. It's a shame since DIYMoonshop have some of my favorite artists, but their price point is too high to be delivering this kind of low quality kits. I do have a few of their kits since they changed manufacturers but I don't think I'll be buying anything else from them if they don't improve this. I appreciate the honest review Katie.
Margaret Morales is the reason why I got into the world of cross stitch conversion😹 Saw a few reviews on DIYmoon shop and I just can't pay that amount of money when there's constant problem with their rendering and customer service. I'd rather support small businesses like Jaded Gem Shop where I know I'm gonna get quality drills and canvas and amazing customer service
I have bought from DIY for years in the last month I got about 2022-ish. Yeah I just threw out Margaret Marelis from DIY because just as you’re pointing out the colors were horrible it was around it was just not to my satisfaction either, and I ran out of drills on a pink just is not up to top-notch that it used to be glad to posting this. I spent a decent amount on diymoon for Black Friday. Looks like I need to start my first one soon to check out the rendering. I’m not a pixel artist, but it looks like they just turned the contrast all the way up on the render to try to make the image more crisp but it just created some choppy transitions. You were so very chill and kind about it though!
I agree that the rendering leaves a lot to be desired on this kit. I bought three from them back in 2021, one of which I finished a couple of months ago, Folk Art Witch by Medusa the Dollmaker. The canvas was dirty, which I blamed myself for because I have pets. The glue was barely sticky and I had a terrible problem with popping drills. And the quality of the drills wasn't that great. When I looked online to see if I was the only one experiencing these issues, I realized I wasn't the only one, AND I wasn't the only one getting dirty canvases. In the end, the rendering wasn't that great. I will never buy from them again. Especially because they're so expensive for what you get.
Quite surprised with their response and how similar it is to what they sent me after sending side by side photos of a Margaret Morales DP (old vs newer rendering) last year. I hope they revert to their original renderings because great rendering is what makes DPs magical.
I have to agree with you here Katie. While it looks great from our perspective, close up it looks rather muddled. I thought she had one of those lacy partial gloves that some brides wear, where there is a loop for middle finger area to hold the glove in place. With DIY Moonshop being as expensive as they are, I would expect more attention from them to the details. You definitely don't seem as fired up about the outcome, dare I say maybe a little disappointed.

What a difference in "Guise"! It's interesting how the new kit seems to have taken a step backwards, as far as rendering goes. Especially since they already had the canvas plotted beautifully in the old kits. I would have expected the reverse. I have "library version A" in the same size/ shape you completed coming any day. Very curious how it will compare to yours.
Also.... I know you don't love charting, but could be an interesting video if you did a before/after to correct for the computer render. Eliminating the odd confetti and just blending her skin better.
I watched a video from Single and Placing and he had a canvas ordered from Diymoon shop. The rendering wasn’t good either. I just purchassd canvases from diymoon shop and they are on the way and now I am super worried because this is the second video from my favorite dp content creators that said something about their new canvases. 😢
There are a couple companies that I just can’t bring myself to purchase from because renderings are important to me just as much as quality of the materials. Diymoonshop and Dreamer designs. Diymoonshop just looks way too computer rendered for their price point and Dreamers always look like confetti galore when it feels totally unnecessary sometimes.
If I had spent over a hundred dollars on any kit, I would be disappointed in the strange, almost bizarre, color rendering (those eyebrows!). The hydrangeas are what attracted me to the art, but the cream and corals in the skin take away from the blue and soft purples and clash with them. I am glad I didn't buy this one after all. I will wait and see if DIY cleans this up. Thank you.
Totally agree with your opinions on the color and rendering. I also think their reply to you was disappointing at best. I don’t think they are listening to customer feedback or have any plans to improve anything. They have some beautiful artwork that I love but I will not buy from them.😢🐉

While I do think they could have done a better job at blending the colours in her face, I honestly don't think it's horrible. I don't think rendering a watercolour art piece will ever be easy because of the soft colour blends that watercolours create. While I think the piece might benefit from some hand charting, I think I would choose this (which I could fix if I had the inclenation, though I do feel it shouldn't be necessary at the price point) for Margaret Morales' art style over for example DAC or Dreamer Designs' rendering styles. Someone like Jade or Munimade would possibly do it better justice.
It looks like she's wearing a mask, I don't like the blending in her face. :( For the cost of the canvases at DIYMoon, I'd expect a better rendering, it doesn't have to be hand rendered from scratch, but at least go in and edit things so there's unnecessary confetti and blend the colors better. Oh Katie I'm so sorry. It looks computer rendered and from a budget friendly company. Honestly I've been very disappointed with DIYMOONSHOP. I was expecting my kit I purchased to be rendered beautifully for the price I paid. That is really beautiful. I agree the speckled areas are a bit disappointing as well as the skin tones. But still looks fabulous for that size
