This is my honest review of the New DONNER BACKBEAT Electric Drum Set. There are so many innovative features in this set and so many things packed into the TOUCH SCREEN MODULE that I had to check this out!

Knowing you for a couple years, I can hear the legitimate excitement in your voice when you were talking about how amazing the teaching parts were. Great review bro.

Yeah bro it’s gonna be great to have it set up in the house and just use it for daily warm ups and practice stuff. I’ll put the big kit outside and give Nolan his room back 😂

thanks for the review man. This one came up when searching for the new Alesis Strata Prime. Really nice that Donner also put in a 'full size' touch screen. Both these brands in my view just show how long Roland have been ripping people off with heavily overpriced e-kits with almost no innovation.

I’ve never been a fan of Roland. I got the alesis strike pro because it came with way more than the Roland kit would come with at that price range. I think their products are incredibly over priced for what they offer that it just doesn’t appeal to me at all. This it from donner is a step in the right direction in terms of adding more bang for your buck. Even the alesis at this same price range as the backbeat comes with more toms and cymbals sure but the module is dog shit and damn near useless… at least this one has a ton of customization, a nice rack with input jacks in it, looks cool, sounds good, and can basically be a teacher for you. We’ll see what happens in the market though 🤷

Roland e-kits may be expensive, but there is plenty of innovation. The Alesis Strike Pro Se does give you more than Roland for the money but the Roland kit will trigger, and respond better and have more edditing abilities. In my opinion, Roland is no longer the very best in e-kits available. I did look into Getting the Alesis Strike Pro Se for the same reason as you but with lots of research and all the problems the Strike Pro Se has I went with a fantastic e-kit from Efnote for about the same cost. I do think Roland's higher-end e-kits are fantastic. Rather than Roland putting money into a nicer color touch screen module, they put the money into improving the drum pads and cymbals. Also Roland is now owned by DW so I think even better e-kits are on the way in the future. It is nice to see Dooner as well as Alesis with their new kits with a color touch screen. The problem with these kits is that they are still budget friendly. This is a problem because in order to offer tbe kits at a low cost they have to skimp somewhere. The module on the new Donner kit and the Alesis kit is very impressive but to keep the price low the drum pads and cymbals are not the best. Companies like Donner and Alesis are sort of stepping up their game and comming out with "better" e-kits but...they try to come out with some new innovative with still keeping the price low. Companies like Efnote, DWe, Roland, ATV, and Pearl still make the best e-kits. They may not be budget friendly but with electronic drum kits you get what you pay for. A budget friendly e-kit no matter how good the module is will always feel like a toy of a drum kit, mabe a good toy but a toy nonetheless. A better brand higher-end e-kit that unfortunately does cost more does feel 99.9% like playing an accustic kit and will teach you propper drumming techniques due to the feel, response, and sound they offer. Budget friendly e-kits even with an improved module still do not have the feel, response, or sound of an accustic drum kit so some playing techniques are compromised or incorrectly played. If you then transfer what you learned on a budget friendly e-kit to an accustic drum kit or a high-end e-kit you will go through a relearning curve as you will have to relearn how to play certain things as the feel, response, and expressiveness will be way different. In conclusion I think Donner, Alesis, and other so called budget friendly brands will have e-kits worth buying but for now I think they made some great innovative advances and their e-kits are better but their e-kits still have too many cons and issues to consider buying unless you just need an inexpensive e-kit for home practice and even then saving for a high-end e-kit is way worth it and a total game changer from a budget friendly e-kit.

Dude thank you! I hope to make more interesting and drum filled content in the near future! Getting everything set up in the drum studio has been a pain but everyday it gets closer and closer to how I want it to be.
