- Mike Parker, Tree Fruit Extension Specialist with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service at North Carolina State University talks about how to plant, prune, and maintain peach trees. Some of the considerations when planting peach trees are site selection, soil characteristics, soil testing, plant selection, and the planting method.

Skip the soil sample, just stick it in the ground and see what happens, unless your planning on moving.
@Harper Brennan , Livingston TX, clay crappy soil, but I do have a pech tree sapling doing ok
You all probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a tool to log back into an instagram account..?
I was stupid lost the password. I would love any help you can offer me.
@Hunter Jameson Instablaster ;)
@Van Marley I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm.
I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Van Marley it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my account :D
Thank you so much about to plant my first peach tree in florida!
How did it go?
Where did you get it?
Thank you.
Any update?
@@julianbrown6359 its doing well we got tiny peaches off it that were fully ripe : )
Should I add any other soil to the hole
Does the white latex paint that you paint the trunk withdoes it have to be flat or gloss for it doesn't matter as long as it's white latex paint
I might actually test my soil before I begin planting my orchard but as far as the sand goes I'm planning on using my backhoe to help me out.
can a 20 year tree be brought bacK with pruning?
How deep to plant the Indian peach. they grow here native. My peach trees were killed by ICE and tornadoes. But I was able to save the peach seeds. My ? is do I start them in a bucket or can I plant them in the ground. How deep to plant? do they need fertilizer? how much water do they need as seed? or should I wait till I have a tree sprouted. my soil is sandy red ground.
I’m totally confused about what you said about pot plants. Do I take the mesh off and expose the roots or not?
I think he meant to say that you should take care to free up any root-bound roots. You should definitely take the mesh off and expose the roots before planting.
Absolutely take the mesh off, anytime you have such a plant, take the mesh off before planting it. The roots wont be able to grow and spread if they're keep in their mesh, might even cause it to die and you don't want that to happen.
Hi Mike, I have a small peach tree about a year old. It is still in a container. When do I bring it inside for the winter? I live in Maryland so it gets pretty cold here.
Depends on variety.. I have a peach tree that's over 10' tall with 6 scaffold braches. It survives winter here in zone 5... I do mulch heavily in fall and remove 1/2 the thickness early spring.. happy gardening 😊
this turned from a how-to video to a goverment lecture
so for trees in a pot ...are u saying to cut those roots which circle around the pot?
Continued,I will tack a sample to the aquaculture department. I have 400 pounds of cow manure tilled in my garden. its a spot about 100' 30' ft. why is it bad to plant down a fence roll? Sorry for so many? I have done some graphing but and set out fruit trees. just never planted any seeds.
Type of latex paint
flat
gloss
ndoor
outdoor doesn't matter what type of white latex paint do you paint the trunk of the tree with thank you very much
my peach tree is like 20 x 20 ft, and for the last 5 years my peaches get a jelly like substance and then the fruit rots and drys out. Some of the leaves get yellow and drop, I've also notices ants walking up and down the trunk, I checked the leaves and see some holes but no aphids. I have lots of peaches on it now about an inch in size, I've already put organic fertilizer on it last month.
Did you figure out how to fix that?
It might be a fungus
if you plant one peach tree in a back yard will we expect to grow fruit
Hi Doug, Yes, Peach trees are basically self-pollinating, so it can produce peaches with just one tree. It is a challenge to grow peaches, however, due to the pest and disease problems. Proper pruning is important. There's lots of good information on the peach portal so be sure to read up on pests, fertility, and pruning there on the website.
My mother planted one in the backyard just like our neighbor but it’s been there like 4 years and not fruits .😣😭 🍑 🍑
Too much time spent on soil sampling. . ..never did it...had good peaches in Sandy loan in southern Michigan..here in AR there in no soil, just rock..I buy my own bag and buy Sandy...
My first peach tree died , my second almost died. I pulled it up an put it in a pot. I need a soil test. Apparently my soil is very bad for peaches.
Didn't let us know what the ph has to be for a peach tree🤨
Hi! I have a question. I planted a dwarf peach tree last year. It was like 1 foot tall when i planted. It is about 5 feet now. Its leafs started to have reddish/orange spots and they turn yellow and eventually fall. What's up with that? What do I do? I tried neem oil, but it doesn't seem to help.
Did you send your soil samples to the Department of Agriculture?
Its dying , the spots mean it's sick
could be many things. too much water, too little water, or not enough nitrogen. Not enough info to tell if it is fungus or bacteria.
Just wanted to know what types of trees are best to grow in Wilson or Cary, NC. Dwarf, semi-dwarf. Spread of variety based on growing season and temp. Video not real useful. Sorry.
At this point in time, there aren't really any dwarf or semi-dwarf peach trees available. If you're interested in learning more about good varieties, this link has a good list and descriptions, including harvest dates: peaches.ces.ncsu.edu/peaches-educational-resources-for-home-gardeners/
No commercial dwarf or semi dwarf in peach varieties, is what I mean.
Horrible. It's pretty much sand, they spray chemical fertilizers and don't mulch, no wonder store bought peaches taste worse.
Doing wayyy to much bro
