- I went back to Blackpool to stay in the lowest price hotel that booking.com had on there website.
Booking.com had this hotel in Blackpool called THE DRIFTWOOD HOTEL and for one night in Blackpool the cost was only £17 WHAT A BARGAIN
( SO I THOUGHT!! )
After reading the reviews online it fastly
become not the hotel I thought it world be ! People talking about no one answering the phone for hour and some family even went home after waiting 5 hour to enter the hotel.

As a woman I can tell you in all honesty I would rather hover over that sink than visit the god awful communal toilet … just being honest, thank you and your lovely lady for the content I love it ❤
One thing that annoys the hell out of me is a bed pushed up against the window wall ,that's a huge put off
Yes Dan I fear the sink has definitely been used as a Latrine! The overall vibe of the place was minging! You could have turned the lights off and gone round and done an Urban exploring video it looked that run down!

I actually lived not to far from there although now I'm back home living in Edinburgh Scotland but I really liked living in Blackpool & my other half still lives there now!..... Another great video Dan but I think it was coming back to the light being on that made you unsure whether to stay the night, understandably!👍

I do think that these booking agents should take responsibility and report to the local council.
These places give Blackpool a bad reputation.

I'm so glad you make people aware especially the size of the bed its no excuse the hotel charging £17 I don't go to blackpool nowdays due to my health issues but in the days of me going to blackpool for the weekend I didn't go for the cheapest but a medium priced hotel. Each person / couples have their own price bracket. People shouldn't have to stay in something like that.

Another banging video mate, and yes %100 know people piss in the sinks in b&bs, I used to spend a lot of time in army barracks, using the sink was standard but always left it spotless!. Keep them coming Dan, you aught to take your own sleeping bag in case of extreme circumstances lol 😂

Even that massive stain on the wall looked like it had taken on human form and was aghast at the state of that hovel!! I wouldn't stay there for the night if they offered to pay me!

The "owners", if you can call them that, couldn't give a flying frig. These places are owned by a criminal underbelly. Dan is staying here, I feel, for the lols - but Christ, I wouldn't go anywhere near the place - I'd rather sleep under the pier with a cheap blanket.

Another interesting video and find the Blackpool ones most interesting as a former resident and regular lifelong visitor. You do a very good job with videos and seem a proper down to earth sound bloke. Where was the stake house? Might have to give it a try next time I'm up there and would be great to bump into you up there and have a chat mate.

Blackpool is a dystopian hell.
Im laid in my (clean) bed at home & itching like mad watching the grubbiness. I dont know how you do it, but i love watching it! 😅
Places like this should be honest, reconfigure to cell standards (toilet, sink, metal framed bed) and advertise a book in, go on the lash, hit the sack at 01.00 and be out at 10am type vibe. There could be no misunderstanding.
They need to close that place down, i would never never stay there,even at at price, you are braver then me, im loving your vlogs, thank you

Out of season indeed of a refurb. I think it’s a new venture. Well used and Intime will get sorted in season. Next I’d stay there better than some hosels
I totaly get the whole "you get what you pay for mentality" and maybe these "hoteliers" dont have much funds for improvement, but surely they could go to second hand stores and easily by a new bed (sometimes even brand new mattresses) for very cheap!
At one time, hot water was only available at limited hours: could that have been the case?🤔 In resorts, like Blackpool, prices could be expected to be higher...and many accommodations to be tatty. Here, the price was low and the room was tatty. Was this place somewhat near the attractions? As to sanitation: the bathrooms showed some mold and neither you nor I could fit in the showers. At least your sink was attached to the wall and the taps stood far enough out to fill a glass. There should have been a cover on the mattress to protect the mattress against various likely secretions. The room was very small, so it was easier for you to clean it in good time!😇 What with having camped in bivvies, I would not have felt claustrophobic.

A clean mattress cover to cover the stains would have been nice.
I would rather pay £20 & have a clean room & bathroom & a clean mattress cover on the bed.
I think you might be better off without looking at every thing with that UV light.
Great review - Here's a thought - You probably spent more on cleaning products then you did on the cost of the room! Was there a restaurant at that 'hotel'?

In my younger days hopping in a shit van and playing punk shows around the states I kept a journal rating the garbage places we stayed and which hotels to avoid (we were broke. They were a luxury). At the end of a tour my bag and journal were stolen. But I love this idea. I'd like more in depth bathroom reviews lol. Pooping away from home can suck

Bad state of affairs when u leave room cleaner than what it was when u went into it. £17,01 doesn't mean u let u guests stay in filth. I paid £25 at a B&B in Ayr Scotland and it was spotless. Plus u got a great fry up in the morning.
I dunno if they are still around or whatnot but oyu used to be able to get a "Universal remote" app on phones and you just input the make/model of the TV and it can try to use it as a remote. May help yourself when rooms don't provide the remote, I know that's not a 'fix' but it can at least help your mind with the tv :)

The burn marks are from burning of certain ghetto substances, most likely inhaling H or Crk from it. The bus stations around here are full of them in the cubicals with plastic toilet roll holders. I guess they don't care about inhaling plastic, perhaps it's even desirable.
Very brave staying there, been watching for a week or two and going over some of your older videos, you're an accomodation warrior! Brilliant channel that can only grow and grow.

That room was the pits! I’m sorry i couldn’t have stayed because that bed also was full of strains and that would have put me off I know now where not to stay!

I lived in Blackpool in 97-98.
Worked in one of that kind of B&B cleaning rooms. Everything was so much different. Cheap hotels, but clean and presentable.

Made me giggle that the price was £17 and a penny...what's the penny for?!!!! I've had similar experience in my youth with hotels in Blackpool & one in the Lake District that you could barely get in the room!! That was a long time ago though. Just found your channel. Popped up as a suggestion as I watch others on here who also go travelling & review rooms. But got to say that this is probably one of the worst rooms I've ever seen!
you need to try the Nelcon! the owner calls it a boutique hotel but its an absolute s**t show! it makes this room look like a 5 star!!

Try a bus shelter or a park bench for the night in the rain. Then this will seem like luxury. At 17 quid they are making nothing after heating etc. I stayed in a London one at 60 a night that was worse than this.

Some digs are better than home and they treat you like they’re your Mother and some are so shit it’s criminal.
Down South we sometimes had to pay upfront without viewing and on more than one occasion they were so crap we had to threaten violence to get our money back when we pulled plant.
Shouldn't matter bought price of hotel, room should always be respectful for each guest that stays, we spending our hard earned money to stay there

I stay at b and b's in Blackpool when it's the annual punk festival in August. My rooms are always good, but I do expect to pay around 60 a night.
I have friends who choose to stay in the cheapest places. One got an electric shock in the shower.
The more seedy the place the better, Goes with the punk spirit, I'm old school you see, Not a posh punk. 🧷

Im very surprised that the health and safety people have not shut that crap hole down..not fit enough for any animals to sleep in let alone a human being..No way would i stay there its cleaner camping out in a tent
That were better than the one I paid 30 for , the landlady greeted me in pajamas smoking a spliff , awake all night with drunk pissed up people , went to bog in morning and fell over some weapons on stairs ! That's luxury lol

Only just found your channel so I haven't had time to go through your videos but I have to recommend (or not) right off the bat the Hylands Hotel in Coventry, if you want smackheads tapping your door asking for tin foil at 3am in the morning this is the place to stay!

I would be embarrassed to offer that kind of service, what makes people think they can get away with offering a dump to customers? It's a definite no from me. If I can't stay in a good hotel than I'd rather not bother.
If I were you and staying in places like that I think before putting stuff down and sitting on it, I'd be doing a bed bug check!!!
I have a whole plethora of ideas' as to what this place is.
Could it be.....
1. A place where 'ladies of the night' bring 'clients'.
2. A 'shooting gallery'. An establishment where people go to inject drugs.
3. A flophouse. A place that accepts homeless people, cash only.
4. All of the above.
The chances are the hotel owner is as desperate as the people who check in.

When I moved to Blackpool and I was looking for somewhere to live, I didn't have much money and stayed there for 2 weeks in room 4 which looks like that room. I was afraid to sleep in the bed, luckily it was warm so didn't need to. I didn't use the shower because it was so disgusting I was scared of getting a verucca or something, I just washed in the basin. Never again!!!!
I think they leave the shower to get like that on purpose so we don't use it, keep the bills down

Ever since an ex collegue told me him and his mates would regularly urinate in hotel kettles and turn it on before leaving made me never ever use a hotel kettle or cups ever again.

I think it’s the guests that are treating it so badly the staff can’t keep up . My friend used to clean at a cheap Holliday place , she said you wouldn’t believe how people act when they are away , wiping their arses on curtains and all sorts .

it doesnt matter if its the cheapest or the most expensive place to stay, it should be clean especially the bed and bathroom, you need to feel safe which this room failed badly, if i couldnt get any where else to stay for the night i would have to sleep on top of the bed fully dressed, and the set of draws behind the door as i would not feel safe.there.
