    @MaxFast23 and @tymon_kolasinski have the friendliest sporting rivalry in the world.
    Between them, over the last year they've knocked 0.7 seconds off the record for the average time to solve a 3x3x3 rotating puzzle cube.
    And at the 2022 Kewbz event in Coventry, the two friends went head to head in their latest speedcubing battle.

    Im tearing up seeing max’s dad speak so passionately about cubing on behalf of his son. Ive been using beginner method for over 10 years and have bad habits that keep me “slow” (30-40) seconds with beginner. Ive finally been trying to learn speed cube methods to improve and it’s really difficult considering i have slow habits, but learning new algorithms is still very fun even if im technically slower with the speed methods. What a cool community and its all based around an old puzzle and people working on self improvement.

  • @kepeli14

    I want an explain-like-I'm-five from these guys on how they visualize solving their cubes. I know there's straight-forward algorithms to take you from one move to the next (which they would probably laugh at the simplicity), but these guys combine all that into minimal yet incredibly complex moves. Amazes me

    • @SlightSmile
      @SlightSmile 11 місяців тому +1

      So the thing is, for the majority of these guys solves (about 3-4 seconds of a solve on average), what they're doing is actually less algorithmic and more intuitive, which makes it possible to encorporate more creative and complex solutions to drop the number of turns you need to do to solve the cube. Algorithms are usually only used in the last step of the solve, solving the top layer, but the rest requires much more creativity and intuition skill, at least for people that can solve the cubr in less than about 12 seconds.

    Imagine if there was like a duo speed cubing competition where they would each take turns solving it and add there times together for an average and they where on a team goodness that would be crazy
