We Broke Down...

- In this video we go for a drive in the countryside in the Freelander 2 to find somewhere nice to open our UA-cam 100K award but it does not go to plan - first we loose a tyre off the rim and then we get locked out of our own car and worst of all we do not have a jack in the car !
Congratulations Simon ! You deserve it for al the pain you go through on this channel, I think JLR own you an award as well! Stay safe! Chris B.
This channel is brilliant. I love the energy and positive attitude of everyone. Basically, after procrastinating 6 years, I applied for a driving license only because of you. Hopefully in 2 months I'll have my driver license and purchase a used Freelander 2.
Wow that is so cool glad to have helped to get you started on your motoring journey
shout out to Destiny as well, she helped this week with some swooshing side indicators for my FL2 - love the channel, you were green laning about 5 miles from me and looked epic, congrats on the 100K milestone and keep churning out those useful bits for LR's!!!
Destiny starred in our ghostbusters video. We have a great team that I need to show more on the channel
Congratulations to you Simon and everyone. Bigger and greater thing. Thanks for all the great videos.
That is exactly the reason to fit an external tire pressure monitor (TPMS), that would warn you about loosing air, or sudden tire separation from the rim (usually due to very low pressure). I bought the CACAGOO system from Amazon ( yeah, that's the real name...and it's made in China) and saved my life and tires a couple of times. It's cheap insurance. As for not having a jack, as much as I feel sorry for you, "you should have known better"........comes to my mind. Thank God for the emergency manual key lock. Never a boring day in a Land Rover owner's life. Great content though, I really enjoyed watching you guys! :) Hello from Canada, congrats on your 100,000 UA-cam subs.
+1 for the TPM - I have had mine for several years. But the problem is that the external caps can become welded on and cannot be removed (this has happened a couple of times to me, even if put on with copper grease) - so I'm now swapping them out for a set that fits internally to the wheel - will just have to remember to install new batteries on every new tyre change.
@@johnwillett4086 Not an issue for me here in Canada. Have them in both of my cars and perform well even in -40C ! Swapped one set out to my snow tires and came off easily using the little wrench included in the kit.
Congratulations Simon to you, George, Megan, Tylor and all the Team! Well deserved because you make entertaining and fascination videos out of technical matters. I am sure many, many followers look forward to every moment from fitting door mirror caps to the serious nerd stuff…whilst making it simple and giving plastic clip bravery to so many! The Freelander II is a brave friend…relentless and cheap…next job, muddy morass Jack testing…should you get an inflatable bag type for the ultra mud challenge?? 😎😎😎 Well done to you all! Richard😃😃😃😃
From a fellow Freebie 2 owner, congratulations and it shows how capable a car it is, and how great the marque is! I love 'em
Well done 👍🏻 great channel.
Congrats on 100K subs! I feel like I've spent that much in USD buying everything you make for the new Defender. haha I finally took delivery of my MY22 Defender three days ago and everything is fitting like a glove. Can't decide what I'm more excited about, the Defender or all the PUK additions. Thanks again!
Congratulations Simon . Ive really enjoyed your Videos , Biggest Laugh was your take on the Grenadier Art Competition . Ive never laughed so much . And A BIG Thank You for that Bonnet Transfer " 110 ! . .And YES ! Land Rover Should award with a Gift . Kindest Regards to & your Family .
Hi Mike - still got the old 110 ! The legals on the Grenadier art competition where a one off !
Thanks for your support and comments on our channel - and your ideas for products and videos !
Brilliant video. Thanks for your hard work.
Absolutely brilliant, well probably not for you at the time, but brilliant entertainment! Despite the tyre the Freelander was impressive, I hope your alloy survived intact. Congratulations on the 100k plaque, totally deserved and please keep ‘em coming…
Excellent video. This had me in stitches! I haven't laughed this much on a while. The green laning and then the unforseen mishap with the tyre and getting locked out the car is classic comedy!
I really appreciate the content you put out and the honest videos and show or tell it like it is! Very informative even though I don't own a Land Rover there is always something to learn.
Congratulations on exceeding the 100 000 subs!! Well done!!!
Hi - yes it was feeling like a comedy at the time - I think that is why we did not get too upset !
congratulations - well deserved - thanks for all of your time making these informative vids
Congrats on the 100K. Well deserved. That PIAD/Tablet holder works a treat, it did not move.
Just put a recovery kit together for my currently standard FL2.
1. ARB compact recovery kit bag.
2. 5t tow rope. - Stay away from snatch straps unless you have experience
3. 2x 2.75T Bow Shackles
4. Winch Gloves
5. 4T Bottle Jack - need to add a few bits of wood to provide the jack with a batter platform off road.
6. Torch
7. Head torch
8. Emergency Blankets
9. Extra Layers and Poncho.
10. Torx 20 driver for the air box on the Freelander 2
11. Multi tool.
12. First Aid Kit
Cracking content. Thank you.
Enjoyed chatting to you guy's at the GB Land Rover Show last year.
I’m actually honored to be a part of the 100k award. Subbed and made tons of purchases (even from USA)
Our cunning plan is working ! hope we have helped you to enjoy your car more ! that is our goal
Congratulations on 100,000 well done lads nice trip out 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you had ‘fun’ with your freelander. I played with the ‘terrain select’ knob and it cost me a new transfer box - never touching that thing again !
Ouch - mine seems to love the abuse !
Bravo!! In the right hands (your hands!!!) these little SUVs are amazing...
I am not sure my hands are the best... but the car is unstoppable !
Absolutely thrilled for you Simon and the team at Powerful uk.
Keep up the great work 👍 👏 and thanks for the endless entertainment 👍 😀
Brilliant video again. Oh, how I laughed seeing the state of Simon after changing that wheel. Pure comedy Gold and can't think of anyone more deserved of a UA-cam plaque than you guys! Congratulations to you all and keep that great content coming!
Yes - not sure how George got away without getting dirty .... I think he used the excuse of being a camera man !
@@L663 🤣🤣🤣
Well deserved guys. On the Jack front, a few years ago I bought an electric jack. It’s really a scissor jack with a motor you plug into the cigarette lighter socket. Never had to use it after buying it. It’s presence is enough to ward off punctures.
Yes the old buy it so you never need it trick... worth every penny of expenditure !
Congratulations on your 100,000 milestone! Thanks for all your great videos and great products, I’ve had a few 👍 The mighty Freelander lives on!
That was most enjoyable. I am a big fan of the freelander. owned one new 2009-2012 then sold it after warrenty expired. I have driven all Landrovers from Mk.1, Mk2, Mk3. during my military service 62-72 The Defender and Discovery Sport since, but I miss my Freelander and am on the lookout for a Freelander 2 again here in Germany
Your Utubes are brilliant and look forward to more
Hi from Germany
davidbowden45
Absolutely awesome video. This is true Land Rover style. It´s was the most epic youtube award opening i haver seen. The mud gave it the true "Real" meaning.
Again Congratulations for being true to yourselfs and giving us such precious content.
A magnificent 2022 for all the dream team!!!!
Hi Jorge - thanks for your continued support of our channel !
I did not want to open the award in an office or indoor space... but covered in mud was not the plan ... but I agree it feels very fitting !
Can't believe you don't have a jack! Where is it? Cracking video though. If in doubt flat out!!!
Top video!! Proper off roading excitement. Thought the Freelander performed brilliantly and goes to show you don't have to spend a fortune to have some off roading fun. Next stop 150000 subs👍👍 Been great informative entertainment since I subscribed.
Hi again Philip - our channel is an odd mix of tutorials / educational / product reviews / trips... sometimes I myself am not sure what videos we will make each week !
Don't forget, it's only one dugga dugga when you tighten the wheels Simon. The joys a laneing, you ought to have a high lift jack, it's essential for getting out of ruts if you ever bottom out. Also a can of butane and a t-max pump gets the tyre back on the rim in situe. Great to see you achieve 100k.
Congratulations guys, well deserved, your patience and somewhat attention to detail (painting all the screws so we can see them) makes for interesting content, thanks for all your work powerfulUK team happy 2022....
Congratulations and really well deserved - you keep us informed and entertained, come up with great experiments and cool design gear for all kinds of mods. Keep up the good work and best wishes for 22 🙏👍
Well done Simon and all the team! Had to chuckle at the good old Freelander2 restricted nearside door unlock scenario. 🤣
Hey Simon and crew - congratulations and well done! Keep those videos coming!
Massive congrats on the 100,000 subs .. I always watch your video's as they are so informative, and being local it's nice to see the routes you take. I did those byways the other week, that uphill stretch where you lost your tyre is certainly challenging. I use the same mapping software but on a Samsung tablet so no need for the GPS dongle. Keep it up.
Drop us a note next time you are heading out - especially if you have a jack !
Damn pain that the IPAD does not let you connect to the phone GPS... but it lets you join to the phone hotspot.... aghh
🤣😂🤣 what are you like 😂🤣😂. Bin the remold's 💩 👍 great video😎
Yes i think I am going to splash out and get 2 proper tyres for the front !
You should really not go out solo guys....GLASS code of conduct etc. Also a bit wet to be out on those lanes to be honest. Treadlightly.
Hilarious ! Your videos are the highlight of my week and usually end up with me buying more parts for my new Defender. Keep up the good work !
Thanks Steve - at least this video did not cost you any money in expenditure !
@@L663 well it has because I’ve just placed an order for 3 more items !
Need to carry a hack and a knuckle bar, those cross brace things aren't great if the wheel has not been torqued up correctly and instead uggged to death with a windy gun. Still great video and proper muck slinging!!!!! 👍👍👍👍😁😁😁😁
Yes I think we need some more kit - jack / knuckle bar etc
congrats on the YT award .. Freelanders are great fun off road & surprisingly capable with decent tyres
We are always impressed how well the Freelander 2 does..
Congrats n well done! Love the content of the channel, keep it up!
Thanks for your support of the years and insightful comments.
@@L663 haha I feel that's almost tongue-in-cheek! 🤣
Congratulations guys it’s well earned!! You make fantastic informative content and always have a laugh. Keep up the good work!!!
We try and keep it fun - the benefit of having a job that is also your hobby - although we have our share of problems along the way .
Huge congratulations on the 100,000subs. Epic video to boot!
Congrats on the milestone. Made an interesting and realistic video about stuff that happens in real life. However, it's reckless to go off road alone without the minimum recovery gear, which should include Lucozade and a Mars Bar. Always check and adjust the tyre pressures before leaving. Also, I can't believe your son made "his old dad" do the heavy stuff!!!
You managed to turn that into an adventure today.
Always make sure you have a jack, at least you had the locking wheel nut key, oh and carry a pack of wet wipes in the car.
Congratulations on the 100 K subscribers, well deserved!
There’s never a dull moment with a powerful uk video! Congratulations to you all.
Who needs a dull life... not me.. Thanks for sharing our adventures with us !
Well done, one of my favourite channels....
Hi 👋 also congratulations 🥳 for your UA-cam button achievement .
❤️❤️👍👍👌👌🙏🙏
I wonder how many emojis M Virdi has posted in the time it's taken Simon to get to 100K subscribers?
Just seen your video, great. I too have the key trouble. I've mended it 4x now. The battery on the back of mine is supposed to have a cradle but on the aftermarket pcb ones does not. Original does. When I soldered the battery on it seems that movement in the battery in use seems to break the contact. I'm now going to try some silicone to steady the battery and see if that woks. Good luck in fixing yours.
Hi Andy - I have ordered a new Key and will take a look if i can code it with the GAP IID tool !
fantastic video as always and congratulations on the 100k subs
Thank you so much 😀
Thanks for the speedy reply simon, if and when I get my Freelander I’ll look deeper into it, but prices have gone crazy 😝
I know - my £1500 off road special looks like a total bargain right now
Best video I’ve watched in a long time. Congratulations on the 100k subscribers👌
Simply incredible! Well done to all of you!
Incredibly stupid to not have a jack... incredibly lucky to find someone with a jack... thanks for the nice message !
Congrats! Thanks for all the great tips and awesome content! Keep on 🚂
Thanks so much!
When green laning without a jack!!! But at least you had a George!! Throw a bottle jack and a few lumps of scaffold board in the boot. Better still, get one of them IKEA blue bags and make a green laning bag, jack, wood, rope, a pair of overalls, that fit!
Yes we are getting prepared - a "sack of delights" would appear to be in order.
Nice viewpoint from up there too!
Great video Simon, those ruts looked pretty scary! Glad the lift spacers helped. I’ve just reached 3k subscribers so quite a while before I get an award like yours, well done!! I’ve given Powerful UK a mention in my latest video, might help get you to 200k!
Well done guys, great videos and great service with your products!
3 wheels on my wagon, but we still rolling along... Nice one guys.
Congratulations to you all at PowerfulUK and Happy New Year for 2022
Thanks Tim - this year has been an adventure in so many ways !
Every day is an adventure in a land rover. Brilliant lane
Congratulations Powerful UK team! I am going to need a couple spare suitcases when I go to the UK for all the Discovery 3 bits I want to buy off you guys 😊😊😊😊
We need to do more D3 stuff.... its in the workshop tomorrow.....
@@L663 I hope so. When I come I am buying big time. I live in Australia and I like what I see in your on-line store.
Congratulations Powerful UK team
Well done all at Powerful UK 👍
Wow that’s a bummer guys. FairPlay to that guy for rescuing you, and a well deserved 100k 👍Aldi sell cheap zip guns for ripping off wheels. 😀
Congratulations on the award, great video and content, keep them coming 👍
Thanks 👍
Just found your channel, brilliant video 👍🏻
Hi Ash - welcome to our channel !
Keep up the good stuff and let the kid drive a little! Cheers from Montreal!
I was hoping to find some super neat way of changing those dirty tyres but this was messy af! 😂 Great video btw 🙌🏾
Thanks! 👍
Congratulations Powerful UK!
It is you guys that subscribe - thanks for subscribing and watching our adventures
Congrats!
I subscribed because as a FL2 owner this is very entertaining and exciting to watch (alhough I would not give mine that much abuse, it cost me almost 10x what you paid =) ). But seriously, you can't go doing these sort of things without a damn jack in your car.
Glad you subscribed it was a schoolboy error having no jack !
following a tire change in rainy weather I now have gloves in all my cars - waiting to see the "breakdown clothing protection" section in your shop 🙂
One of my fav videos yet 👍
It was one of those days that I will remember more fondly that it felt at the time !
Always carry a jack, breaker bar, disposable gloves, and at least 2 spares when off reading,I always do,you never know when you will need them.
Wise words
Great video and congratulations for the award.
I can't believe you are normally so well organised in all your videos that you haven't got a decent wheel brace and a jack anyway love your videos
Congratulations on the 100k Simon - well deserved. And isn't it lovely to have children to do all the dirty bits for you? 😉 I am guessing that the "non opening" bit was due to a low battery in the key??? I change my key batteries at every annual service to make sure this doesn't happen (it happened to me a few years ago, so I always stay safe now). Though a big mistake not having a jack (naughty step for you). I have an extendable wrench for the wheel nut removal as it gives a bit of extra torque - though now I also carry a torque wrench as well.
The FL2 has a rechargeable lithium battery in the fob, so it *should* recharge when it's docked in the car, but they don't last forever.
I had a bit of a panic when you said you'd broken down, but a tyre coming off a rim could have happened to any car. I have a FL2, and I'm a bit invested in yours as it does seem to demonstrate that they're pretty robust... so I'm gunning for it! :-D
Hi Ian - The Freelander 2 keeps impressing - my next problem is where to mount the spare tyre now its getting a new off road tyre !
Brilliant and well deserved all of the stuff I have bought from you has been good quality. Great video too. There are some green lanes near me where the ruts come up to my waist (6') that would be a challenge?
Congratulations and well done 👍🏾
Great video. You are an inspiration!
I appreciate that!
I broke down myself this week!
First beer in a week, watching the Sunday Football here in the US!
Oh damn I live in Swindon.
Might have to take my recently purchased freelander 2 up to the ridgeway
There are some nice routes up there but check which ones are open.
First time seeing George not just hearing he’s voice and he is a lot younger than i thought. P.s when are you going to do more content on the L405?
Congratulations!!!🎉
Simon another great video well done. How about a future project for the Freelander 2 retrofit a fuel burning heater to it I reckon that would be right up your street. Thanks again
well deserved keep up the good work and your team
Thanks for your support.
did you turn the DSC off, that makes the ride much nore comfortable..; why did the yre come from the rim, too low tyre pressure?
The beeping of parking sensor when driving is the most Freelander thing ever
This was annoying as in mud and ruts you would think it would disable the Pdc
Despite the knobbly tyres and suspension lift on the PFUK car , it is very impressive where a standard Freelander will go even with road tyres!
The car is awesome off road - its small and easy to manoeuvre - glad i had the lift and off road tyres for this trip.
Would have been nice to see the disco 4 out and about , well done on the 100000
The D4...Its time will come...
Great video and well deserved on the award! What off-road tyres were you using or would you recommend as an all-season tyre?
We used some remould tyres with the Goodyear K02 pattern on them.
well done and very well deserved
I love this channel ….. even the Tesla stuff 😅 Congrats All at powerful 👍
See the Tesla stuff is sneaking in and getting noticed !
@@L663 I can see the T-shirts now ‘I came for the Land Rover stuff ….. and stayed for the Tesla stuff’ 😅
Is this a public drive route for anyone to go, could you put location in drscription if so?. Plus I am 15 and don't even drive but love watching your videos and the 5.0 SVR is my dream car. Keep up the good work and thank you for the content, congratulations on your award it is well deserved and earnt 👍💯
Hi Aron this is a public route that anyone can drive but your car must be legal MOT / Tax / insured and a driving license etc
did you say those tyres are new even though they are remould it looks as though the tyre fitted has not made sure it is on the rim properly and when using the key don't you have to do it twice to knock the alarm off. thanks for the video
The tyres are indeed remoulds - I am going to get a pair of proper new tyres for the front now !
Not sure about the double flick of the key to disable alarm - will need to test that - thanks
Simon does this car have standard wheels which cannot handle off-road aggressive tread tyers?
What’s the media player you have in that? I have a 2010 hse but hate the navigation unit in it. That looks tidy. Is it one from Amazon or is it an actual company one?
Keep your tongue in Simon or you’ll bite it off when you hit a rut. Same rule for your thumbs outside on the steering wheel 😫👍
Congratulations Guys 😁
First rule of off roading/ green laning ...dont go alone !!!
I had George with me !
