From a slugger in the 1970's, then becoming a Minister, and then coming back to become the Heavyweight Champion again...what a journey. George Foreman is more than a Legend. I'm so glad George has come through it all with his health and marbles 😊

Foreman is a boxing miracle , he even once did 5 fights on 1 night , linear champion in his 40s..... And also he beat briggs when he was in his 40s, but judges gave it to briggs . No one could believe it , George definately won that .

George Foreman was dropped by Ron Ryle, Ali, when he was in his 20s. He had never been dropped in his 40s. There is a huge power, skill gap between those 2 eras. Foreman was not dropped even after getting hit more than 10 consecutive punch from Holyfield. Mike Tyson was a big star during his era, but he has no chance against Mr.Foreman.

A 48 year old Foreman was a nightmare matchup for any heavyweight, even if they beat him. When you got in the ring with an older Foreman, you had to concede that you were either going to have to go 12 grueling rounds, or you would make a mistake and get knocked unconscious. Many guys tried to chip away at the stone giant thinking they could knock him down, but he just kept coming forward no matter what. That's scary. It's like suffocating in the ring. He's might not be fast, but he would always land a big punch eventually, and he was excellent at flicking out his jab quickly snapping his opponents head back to hide the straight right hand. It's so basic, yet it proves that even the simplest combinations, and techniques are effective as long as they are executed correctly. You could run from George, but you couldn't hide because every step he took covered ground, and he would rather take a big punch than give up his ground. Briggs looked desperate at times in their fight like he didn't know what else to do to keep George off of him, and many of Foreman's opponents ran out of gas from the pressure George put on them. Savaries tried fighting toe to toe with George, but despite his toughness, and grit, George was still the tougher man.

Excellent assessment. And his fight with Morrison was the same thing. A few times Tommy literally ran away. Yeah, Morrison won the fight, but partly because he was careful to stay out of the way of the big, fight-ending punch that Foreman could deliver so effectively.

I was lucky enough to grow up watching the best three fighters slug it out through the seventies. Ali, foreman frasier.
Nothing has been so exciting or dramatic to watch in boxing in my lifetime. They were all gladiators. Frasier fought inside, never stopped coming forward. Foreman was the biggest puncher, but then I have never seen anything like Ali. Incredible speed, and athleticism, different level, no one to compare him with, that was human anyways!

@426 Neither one of them wanted any part of each other. That would have been an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. It would have been a war, that's for certain. I think a prime Tyson wins on points, but George goes the distance, and stuns Tyson multiple times. I wonder if George would have played the waiting game to let Tyson wear himself down, and then come on strong after the 4th or 5th round. Who knows though, maybe Tyson would have had a lot more respect for George's power, and chin than he did against most fighters at that time. Either way, it would have been very interesting, and the tickets would have sold out within 30 minutes.

Wake up people.....this 48 yo George Foreman is NOT the weapon that fought Ali.
The younger fighter who destroyed Joe Frazier was probably the best heavy weight boxer ever, but robbed of the title GREATEST by a super smart Ali.
After the Ali, Foreman and Frazier era, heavy weight boxing took a nose dive until Mike Tyson.
    How good was Tyson ...?
We will never know because he never fought Ali, Frasier or Foreman.
Frasier and Tyson were most evenly matched.....same basic style.
Keep moving forward walking through punches while throwing thunderbolts yourself.
Ali and Foreman both would have punched Tyson like a punching bag......but could they hurt him ?
Simple equation.....knock Tyson out or lose.
For my money, Tysons destroys Frasier.....but Foreman kills Tyson.
    Ali......who knows ?
We never seen Ali at his best.
We saw a young Ali too fast, clever and intelligent but not really powerful enough.
Then we saw a much slower Ali who had gained power.....but was now hitable and fighting corrupt officials and referees as well.
No way Frasier won their first fight.....Ali landed more than 3 times the scoring punches.
Frasier had to knock Ali out to win.....but he never could.
Ali turned out to be a lot tougher than previously thought.

      Really ?
I see you really know your fighters, boxing techniques and the intricacies of pugilistic tactics and strategies.
Tyson was never an artistic and consumately skilled boxer......he was a force of nature and anger.
Knock him out, or get destroyed .
Tyson gave all his opponents every chance to win, to knock him out.
Buster was either the first to get lucky, or the first to land a big enough punch to damage Tyson enough to then be able to use him as a punching bag.
Learn about boxing itself and then its history before declaring Tyson lucky or a fake.
He unified the 3 big titles......possible to win one without fighting a top flight fighter, but not likely.
To win all 3 meaningful titles you must fight REAL fighters who have earnt the right to fight for a title.
Rocky Marciano......one of the greatest of all time.
      49 wins, 43 by knock-out and retired undefeated......but wouldn't win a fight these days .
Marciano let his opponents punch themselves out and then destroyed them once they couldn't lift their arms anymore.
Today the fights are too short for his tactics to work, but.....modern referees would stop his fights in the first 3 rounds and award the TKO to his opponent.
We could argue then that Marciano was a lot tougher than Tyson......but they never fought the same opponents .
Tyson's were much bigger, heavier and better trained for strength and power.
Marciano vs Tyson vs Frasier.....possibly the greatest boxing match ever, or could be over within 30 seconds .
      We will never know.....
