I actually did these similarly when there was power outage in our area in Lapu2 City last Sunday. I hooked up our main modem to my DIY solar genset (Lithium iron phosphate battery, 20AH capacity, small one cause starter pa lang ako sa going green energy) using the usb to 12V cable. The brownout lasted for a few hours yet it didn't really interrupt me watching series and my husband's side WFH job. There's the manual plugging in but it just took me a few minutes to do so.
Also, aside from the Ecoflow brand ng powerstation, I think the Bluetti brand is also worth checking out.

We have an APC UPS for our router. It's really great for online classes, especially during exams. A bit pricey but I see it as an investment to reduce my anxiety during exams when there's sudden power outage

Super helpful especially sa situation namin diri sa sa Occidental Mindoro. Rotational brownouts and the power distributor/provider (something like veco) is so inconsistent with their scheduled brownouts.

Im a new sub since I checked most of your videos and all of them are vital, good investment of time watching. I hope you can also make a video how to use the Greenfield Power Station, how to charge, costs, watts etc. This is something most families in PH should have.

In our case, we use mini-UPS for routers to our wifi.... so that you dont need to plug something manually... mini-UPS are small, its like the size of a powerbank that can power our wifi for 2hrs... very enough time to maintain zero downtime on our internet.

I also have a way to have WiFi while blackout.
You'll just need a car battery with 1SMF or 2SMF and a battery inverter. And i simply connect the plug of WiFi to the inverter and you can use it morning until afternoon.

I use a small 12v UPS designed to run router. It is powered from 2 separate solar power systems, one is small 12v, also powers Cignal, USB chargers, emergency lighting & fan, with a change over relay from the usual 24v solar system, via 12v converter.

I use a mini ups which I bought in lazada which just cost around 1k and during a power interruption it was able to power up our converge modem/router for more than 8 hours. I didn't totally maximize it capability since the power came back on. Overall it was worth it .
btw Multi-output DC Home UPS Power Supply was the name of the product .

You actually need a powerbank with Pass-Through feature... The powerbank charges as it is charging other device.. in this case.. router... When there is a power cut-off.. reserved power from the powerbank will continuously provide the power to the router seamlessly.

There's another option that will not interrupt your internet connection and it continuously power up your router when there's a black out. (UPS dedicated for Modems/Router) And fyi, the generator of the internet distribution box (the big box) where the internet line is connected from your house only lasts for 6hrs max for both PLDT and Globe :)

Small brick is most likely a DC-DC Boost (edited buck converter is step down) converter. Steps up Dc voltage from 12V to 5V. this is also present in the smaller USB device only that it's located closer to the USB port. Difference of the two devices essentially amount of power it can deliver. the shorter and smaller device can deliver lesser power than the bigger one.

    • @deesan7508

I have a high capacity UPS solely for my globe modem though it is expensive but there is no downtime or interruption when the power is out.
I have the Prolink 1500 VA, if one modem is only connected, it lasts for about 8 hours but UPS' Battery degrades overtime over the years, the same with phone batteries.
    Globe Gfiber lang malakas!

I just saw this and got intrigued. I've been working from home since 2016 and I had my fair share of brownouts. I have both the 30 pesos cable connected to my power bank and I also have a UPS. All the options are good but these will all not work if the power mismo sa poste ang na-cut. I was living in Mandaluyong and my hometown of Ipil and these worked fine. However, when I moved to Makati, the ISP's box outside mismo walang power. The router is on because connected na sa UPS but wala pa din internet kasi patay yung mismong box sa labas. Ayun, wala akong internet, naka-mobile data nalang.

I've read some people are using the Netgear Nighthawk M5 MR5100 5G Wi-Fi 6 Mobile Hotspot Router ($699 on Amazon) successfully in the Philippines. Manufacture claims 13 hours on a single charge. Somewhat pricey but hey, if you gotta have that internet then it's worth it.

@@carlaerikavlagrana That would depend on the specs of the UPS and Devices it powers ie. 600VA UPS can power a 400 W device assuming typical PF of 0.8.
      W = VA*PF.
but to get how long you can power this you need Battery Volt-Amp-Hour Capacity. typically 84Ah. for 650VA
with this Doing all the math you get. more or less 2.5 Hrs assuming 400W constant load.
computers usually consume 200W and modems 20W. so you can get around 5 Hrs with a 650VA ups with a battery capacity of 84Ah.
