The Hook That Nobody Escapes: The Story of Thresh
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 вер 2024
- In League of Legends, support players fight an uphill battle in a thankless role.
Their job is to protect their AD carry during the laning phase - literally, to make someone else look good. And they sacrifice farm, and sometimes their own lives, to make that happen.
But there’s a champion that shows everyone, including the fans, that support players aren’t the weakest link. He may not be focused on healing or defending allies. But support players who pick Thresh can still win.
Because when you have a hook and god-like reads, everyone on the enemy team is already dead.
They just don’t know it yet.

The Q sound hitting someone will always be a satisfying thing to hear
its like hearing the chains, you know gold coins are coming
Unless it's a minion
Unless he's pulling you
Unless it's fed Darius

April fools they should do a champ spotlight on thresh where when they get to his lantern the champ flashes towards thresh instead of taking his lantern

@@billyjoe8185 when Riot begun to push the boundaries of what can be considered as a support champion...
Thresh is one of those champions that i'm always happy to see when he is played in competitive (or in soloq).
He has a really high skill ceiling so a good Thresh will be able to pull off some seriously amazing plays but he doesn't feel unfair like other champions.
If you die because the enemy Thresh landed a hook and then followed it together with his adc you know that it's your fault, same if you try to jump\dash away but he stops you with his E.
He is just one of the best designed champions.

Thresh has been my favorite support since I’ve started playing league. The ability to make great plays, reading your opponents, saving your teammates but you still need a lot of skill to play him perfectly. I absolutely LOVE it ❤️
The reason why he's my favourite is that he's never truly OP or braindead like the other supports that we have. You need skill in order to maximize his potential, so if you got hit by his hook, you wouldn't say things like that champ's broken or he's too OP (unless you're a noob who loves to blame his mistakes on the characters you're playing). Instead, you would say that "Damn, that thresh is good".
@@lordpaulphilippfernandez9904 Yup, all 3-4 years of playing this game I never EVER say a good thresh is op or hacking
people saying thresh reminded them of bunny or core but here i am still shouting madlife when i land a hook
Yea, literally chills when i first watched madlife compilations.
the way i see it people like bunny and core are the people that you look to when you think of a great thresh but my man madlife is the god of thresh
That is when u realize u've been playing LOL for far 2 long :P
When Thresh had longer soul gather range and shielded everyone he was absolutely ridiculous
I didn't know that. I played League in season 10 and stopped. But I can say that if Thresh can shield everyone and save 1 teammate as well, I would think that Thresh really was a strong support before.
@@cloud-wr1hs he's always been a strong support... he just tends to get overshadowed by the meta (ie the infamous ardent censer meta) or by newer, more stacked champions...
@@lordpaulphilippfernandez9904 LS describes it well. Thresh is good when everything else isn't broken or everything else is bad. He has a sick kit but his numbers are atrocious and adding numbers would make him busted.
@@cloud-wr1hs There was also an old mechanic of Thresh where you can E-Q flash in quick succession so your hook will go off after flashing. It looks so cool and catches an enemy off-guard.

i started playing wild rift and nobody knows what lantern does :(
I don't "Main" thresh.
But I enjoy him. When I get a good team that knows to use the lantern, were unstoppable
Mata and MadLife's thresh hooks back in the day were absolute insane.
I was expecting BunnyFufuu to be mentioned. After all, he is also a thresh god himself
Not even close to the lvl od Mata or madlife
@@tomula2718 in Na everyone is a god to their eyes my dude.
Bunny was a really good thresh player for sure
Tbh there’s a lot of thresh gods in pro play... but at the end of the day bunny doesn’t have a thresh skin, a play named after him, or a world championship win so makes sense to go with the others.
bunny revolutionized thresh again with "the bunnyfufu" So i think it could have been mentioned as well
Thresh hook name just makes it feel better than other hook champs. like you didn't just land a hook you landed "death sentence".
*YES* 😈
Playing vs a good Thresh is one of the most suffocating lanes to play against!
Yeap, even if your playing with it as Morgana (or with a qss) hell just keep coming for you with his team.

That feeling when u predicted a flash then hear that hook sound its literally the most satisfying thing in the game
"Thresh isnt any other support, he is a playmaking potential"

my thresh: lands hook on fed Olaf that's 10/0
And also flay him right to your adc
@@darkradiance7487 😂😂😂
still not as troll as bad bard ults and Es
there is just one main reason why thresh is one of the most loved hook champion, he has the option whether he wants to commit to the fight or not, i mean if a nautilus or a blitzcrank uses their hook on a fed enemy, its a huge mistake, but if thresh did that, he can feel free to not press Q again to commit to the fight so there is no mistake
Then your Thresh presses the Q again 😂
@@ckpn4771 and someone accidentally clicked thresh's lantern too
I like how Thresh's hook is the only thing he's famous for when the lantern is singlehandedly the reason he's been overpowered for his entire existence
"The champion's kit was built from the ground up as a support"
No, that's not correct. Thresh was originally concepted as a fighter. That's why it's his secondary role.
not to mention the unique flay ability he has. It interupts many skills and dashes. Not only that but, how the skill is execute has many unique quirks thats makes is very different from other knock backs
Thresh: Any last words?
Him:....harder daddy!
Thresh: what?
Him: what?
I still watch this from time to time to hype myself up before a game.
I remember back in highschool watching madlife for the first time and instantly loved thresh back in season 3-4. I even made sure to do holiday jobs just so that I could buy the skin that came out and would watch madlife and bunnyfufu plays. When hextec flash came out the plays just got better ☺. Glad y'all made a video about madlife n thresh ❤
It was mata for me. I still play like mata as thresh. My adc might hate me but my mid and jungle loves me lmao, the first skin i bought was ssw thresh.
Have to love the modesty and humble words of Mata, that he has to earn the skin, and not put his legacy to shame.
Reminds me a bit of Faker, who has won everything, yet he feels his name is the most important title to defend.
Accomplished players have some wisdom that hits different, appreciate it!
I usually judge support mains on how well they play thresh or Rakan. Those 2 are just absolutely amazing champions. Even when I lose against a thresh, I can't be mad, the dude is too good.
Thank you sir, I'm a thresh and rakan mastery 7 and i agree
You forgot to add the epic Thresh game played by Green Tea in 2014 worlds groupstage, when AHQ played vs EDG. In that game Green Tea won the game for his team by hitting 2 great hooks in 2 teamfights in a row after being 11k gold down.
One of the most impressive comebacks, all thanks to the support stepping up and carrying his team to victory.

never have i been so offended by something i 100 % agree with as a Thresh main
I can still remember that 1 tresh main i played with
Didn't miss once, even the lee sin and zed stood no chance
Everytime the enemy saw him, they either hugged their ADC or just kited back into tower range
That guy was a real MONSTER
*WHAT DELIGHTFUL AGONY WE SHALL INFLICT*
This video says that thresh players don’t protect their team when the best reason to pick him is because of his lantern one of the best defensive spells in the game
I mained Thresh from his release till season 7 and i never regret this decision. Even today whenever i play support, Thresh is my go to. He is never unfair to play against and never OP but he is a beast if you invest the time to master him.
I'm here to cleanse myself from the Unbound abomination
Supports aren't the weak link, they never are. The ADCs are the weak link, always will be.
No bunnyfufuu reference.... he is a great Thresh man!!
I was expecting bunny to get some recognition as well but whatever, the video pretty good.
i know bunnyfufuu isn't like madlife's thresh. but you gotta respect the man for making good plays with him especially in lcs
It is so satisfying when u cancel someones dash as thresh.

it'd be nice seeing dendi plays, but i doubt it... these guys are league fans over here, they don't care much about dota
I can see why they wouldn't want to make a video on him as much since he's never really been a meta pick. the number of times pudge has won a tier 1 game in recent memory aren't exactly massive, and since dendi there's never been any tier 1 players primarily known for picking pudge.
I main thresh bcause i main pudge in doto

Very satisfying to listen to.
Thresh in my opinion has the best kit in all of league. All of his abilities work so well together as well as having high skill expression. He feels fair to play against and has stood the test of time with being a fairly old champ that is very popular.
Back in the time you could q flash with Thresh, that was one of the busted mechanics at that time, and the coolest if you could pull it off
Wait, you can't do that anymore?
@@johnpauljonesisabadass8134 nope, riot patched it out after couple major patches, because everyone was doing it. You can still flash q though

Since they talked about Baolan, they could've showed his initiation with max range hook on 100 Thieves ADC, immediately followed by flash plus flay plus ulti on 100T support, while Baolan kept landing his hooks during that teamfight at that 2018 World Championship group stage match, then they proceeded to take 1 inhibitor turret at 16 minutes. They should've also showed Crisp's Thresh flash forward+prediction to catch max range to a G2 toplaner who was running away through a bush without vision inside it for FPX during the 2019 World Championship Final.
