That's funny. The Lift thrust is not heated. It's not generated by the Jet Engine exhaust. During construction of an F-35B, a visible “LiftFan” is engineered into a forward part of the center fuselage just behind the pilot to enable massive downward vertical thrust. Horsepower is sent to the LiftFan from the main engine through a “spiral belevel gear system,” Rolls Royce information states. This horsepower, when combined with the LiftFan, generates the downward thrust necessary to enable the “hover” ability and vertical landing. An F-35B has what looks like an square door or opening on top of the fuselage behind the pilot and above the lift fan to maximize downward air flow. Engineers explain that the massive thrust, sufficient to propel the aircraft up to speeds beyond the sound barrier, results from a four fold process. Air ducts on either side of the nose “suck” in air to the engine, the air is then compressed before being ignited with gas -- generating what looks like a controlled explosion of fire coming out of the back. The force generated through this process, enables the speed, maneuverability and acceleration of the aircraft. Mechanical information provided by F-35B engine maker Rolls Royce states “To achieve STOVL, the lift fan component of the LiftSystem operates perpendicular to the flow of air over the aircraft." The LiftFan can operate in crosswinds up to 288mph, Rolls Royce data explains. The lift fans placement in the fuselage is why the B variant's fuel capacity is 33% less than the A, and B variants, and why its weapons payload is smaller. Normally the area where the lift fan is located is occupied by a fuel tank, and weapons bay.
@@unitedwestand5100 that fan barely produces thrust and more the balance the front and back of the jet The jet gimbals so its obviously putting out extreme amounts of thrust to lift a huge plane off the ground
@@iracingrookie3301 ,. All jets rear exhaust articulates, anymore. Yes it helps create lift, but not nearly enough to lift an F-35B vertically by itself. Normally, on the Harrier, the rear exhaust was redirected to other areas to achieve STOVAL, but the F-35B is a Stealth fighter, and redirecting the exhaust/heat to the wings, and fuselage defeats the Stealth capabilities. Therefore, it uses a seperate large fan to achieve vertical lift. The thrust is plenty, because the B variant is the smallest of all F-35 variants. It also has a narrower wing span, and lighter airframe. Thus it is incapable of withstanding, or generating, the same G forces of the other two variants. The US Navy's F-35C is the largest, and most robust of the 3 variants, because it is designed specifically for carrier operations. Where the A, and B have a single nose wheel, the C has a dual nose wheel configuration, a stronger airframe, a bigger weapons bay, a fuel tank in both wings, and where the lift fan is in the B variant. It also has the widest wing span of the 3 versions. It is far superior to both the A and B variants. The B variant is by far the inferior of the 3 variants.

@@saundyuk No, you missed the point. Which is, Chinese influence other areas of our countries through manipulating media and Universities, many of whom have been kicked out of the UK over the last years. As I say , they don't report on that! It's not just militarily a country is threatened.
This comment aged well. Proves you dont know what ur talking about.
@@saundyuk No, they infiltrate by passive means, through Universities, business and Politics especially in the UK and the West. So we don't test their Airspace either or spy on them !! Really.
Amazing how is the deck holding up with the aircrafts landing vertical
They spent alot of money on developing a material that can withstand the heat.
Brilliant 👌
Seen any Tic Tac’s yet?
Excellent stuff bro
It is assuring to see so many in the free world are working together for the safety of our nations. Here, here for the UK!
PO Forgeron!! Well in mate! Remember training you when you were a mere Nav Air!
LOL you said it right, "potential allies HOPEFULLY impressed".
it's a dud
i really hope the number of aircraft increases. 18 on such a large carrier is a bit ridiculous
UK now has 30 f35s, with another 10 being delivered by the summer. That's a decent amount, the UK can now fill atleast one carrier at all times
"Only the dead have seen the end of war"-PLATO.
Or the modern day woke milennial. Because the only thing they can fight for is their right to have a cervix installed on all men
Good. Falklands next trip please.
Sure, we are not bullies, we don’t cause mischief, we just like to be very close to the countries we declare our enemies
Very impressive! Great
Those Lightnings are so cool.
Awesome capability!
Why didn't visit Australia!????
Although we don't have a carrier because our government is too Conservative, we have F35A and we are becoming the launch point of the SCS.Only know we have signed nuclear subs, they are 10 yrs + away, I have always believed we need a similar carrier group for our economic 'friend' who taxes and suddenly stops buying iron ore, wheat, and meat from us everytime our government speaks out at the bully which is China.
No need to visit Oz, you're already on side. We did send an Astute sub for a visit though, for obvious reasons. Sadly despite AUKUS I don't think you are going to get nuclear subs in a meaningful timeframe. Your government seems intent on repeating the mistakes of the past with another pointless 18 month 'consultation period' and talk of 'modifying' an existing design and building them all in Australia. You'd be lucky to get one before 2040+ under such a plan, long after the China issue has been resolved... one way or another.
Great video.
Really professional
Great video thanks.
Espero que ya hayan mejorado muchísimo su pericia de guerra antiaérea. Lo que pasó contra Argentina fue una lección muy dura. Dado el potencial "en libros," nada justifica haber perdido tantos navíos.
Actually it kinda does given anti-air and anti-missile defences on warships weren't nearly as potent in 1982 as they are now? Back then we didn't have Sea-Ceptor or Sea-Viper missiles or Phalanx C-WIS turrets. Back then we still won that war anyway though, and yeah we lost a few ships but we sent over a hundred, we could afford to; and yeah to surface targets Argentina's air-force was by far the biggest threat, but every time they actually came up against some of OUR aircraft, Sea-Harriers, they got their arses kicked, and the F35's a lot more potent than any Sea-Harrier ever was
Rule BRITTANIA 🇬🇧💪🏻🇬🇧,,,,,,,,🖕🏻
I hope Argentina learnt a lesson they could beat a small task force that was a thousands of miles from home and numberd our planes hugely I bet the British harrier could still beat you now lol
If the RN ever consider taking guys in their late sixties to perform any role no matter how menial then I want to be top of that list. Over half a century ago at 17 years old I chickened out at the final stage of joining and have regretted it ever since. Would love to have my time over again and do things differently.
2:22 US F-35 with "HMS Queen Elizabeth" tag on the tail. Nice!
Nice job UK! 🚀
No footage of the crash, I am so disappointed...
Sails half way around the world to say "we are not here to be bullied"
Or raided by career criminals
the RN should never have disbanded the Fleet Air Arm, they were excellent pilots, they had to be to land on a moving airfield, something the RAF seem to be struggling with.
FAA still exist and have pilots flying the F35B.
@@davidhouseman4328 ikr what's he on about?

ok
just make sure the air intake covers are removed before the pilot gets clearance
Top kit....but we need a lot more......especially Destroyers...
Type 45`s arguably the best in the world, if it wasn't for successive government cuts, we'd have 12. But they would rather throw money at the bottomless, wasteful money pit that is the NHS
@@robinstreets1792 HOW THICK?????
Do you know the USA have had the F-22 for 18 years in service and have never used it in any major way, yet they've been involved in wars for that entire 18-year period they've had it? Do you know that the US removed every F-22 from the ME, when Russia arrived in Syria in 2015? Every F-22 from Jordan, Iraq, Turkey, and Saudi was removed.
@@stevewing6851 so you think that the NHS isn't just one big endless money pit? Look how much they are pouring into it now, and it's still not fit for purpose
It's good to see that the Russians like to watch with interest they are looking to learn from the best., also some kinde of carrier is it worth mentioning
Russians can't even get their carrier out without a tugboat close by.
In Forces News we trust
The moving map showing the route taken shows the carrier sailed through the Taiwan straight. This didn't happen did it?
Not the fleet, just a single frigate.
@@davidhouseman4328 thanks 👌
expect to see a Chinese vessel in UK waters - sorry - French fishing waters.
She just needs her full compliment of F35s
"healthy amount of rivalry" really sounds out of place.......
Nope... we have no interest in surrounding ourselves in mediocrity. No participation awards "everyone gets a trophy" in the military.

First class Aircraft Carrier best Navy in the World just remember this big is not always the best .
Its like big lha
That Navy only has 19 warships...
Yeah. Because if you have to say, “We are not going to be bullied!” to a bully on your doorstep, it’s too late. The fight will happen in your garden. Your family & neighbours will suffer.
By sailing to the land of the bully, sailing a few miles from his shoreline, and you say, “I’m sailing in international waters, freely, willingly & protected by international law.” You hold the right & Right is on your side. While the bullies are processing what you say, you add, “We are not here to be bullied.”
If the bully attacks, he is in the wrong. It’s that simple.
Awesome 👏
You don't want to mess with British RAF pilots flying F-35s !!!!!
Well done everyone.
I guess we’re gonna find out how good the F 35 is soon enough,The problem is everybody has a technology it’s not like the old days
The disturbing thing for the Russian Pilots is that they can't even see the F-35 on their radar. It's a game of how do you want to be shot down for the Russian pilots. They can only detect the F-35 by line-of-sight.
They can see them easier then 4th gen jets actually as they have a radar reflector called a Luneburg lens to help up RCS to be seen so you don't have any air to air crashes, even for allies. They fly with these pretty much always other then war time, once off you are correct these planes are like ghosts against Russia jets like the SU35 which still use a PESA radar.
pull your head in the serbs detected the f117 100 times more stealthy than the f35 with a 60s era soviet radar.the russian know how to detect low observable fighters since the russian made stealth possible 20 years before the usa
@@frankrenda2519 The Serbs never tracked or detected the F-17 on radar. Also, there was ONLY ONE F-17 ever shot down. And that was due to the F-17 pilot flying the exact same flight path, night after night! The Serbs fired over 200 missiles at it. Read the action report. Keep in mind the F-17 was designed in the 1970s! It was old tech in the 1990s!
2nd. The Israeli airforce has been using the F-35 in combat, air to air, and bombing missions over Syria and Iran for SIX years now. And the Russians in Syria using the S400 and Iran using the S300 have both claimed that they CANNOT detect the F-35.
@@theylied1776 yes it was tracked go and listen to the serbs that shoot it down not the western bs and the s125 neva is form 1964 get you facts correct before spewing bs.the russians laugh at detecting stealth since they were the ones to desighn it.and it doesnt matter when the f117 was made. the fact is its many times more stealthy than the f35.
@@theylied1776 another point also is since the russians have the s400 in syria the israeli air force has not once even crossed the border the shoot glide bombs in from there territory to targets in syria. they to scared to be shoot down.
U.K. should produce it’s own fighter jets and military equipment it has the know how
We’re producing a 6th gen fighter
why waste money when the US develops better aircraft in all aspects?
@@benrodir2 how do you know it’s better? It hasn’t even flown yet. And if the American jets are better then why do the Americans still use the British harrier years after the British scrapped theirs?
F35 is a joint development project. BAE systems is involved heavily in F35 project.
Collaborations allow us to spend less on development ourselves yet have more in total spend on development. That is particularly true for something complex yet niche like the STOVL F35B.
¡Saludos!
The current french one spends most of its time under maintenance, with not enough ships to closely guard it. By the time it’s finished (French one) it will be about 2031. Ten years will be enough time for us to greatly improve our military strength. Plus as many threats that France makes, they’re an ally, and at the end of the day we wont attack them. Ever, despite their arrogance.
You guys worry about yourselves, not underestimate the BRITISH 🇬🇧💪🏻
All france will do is wave a white flag throw down their guns and run for home
Shout out to the RFA here, replenishing an aircraft carrier and a destroyer at the same time. The Senior Service would not exist if the RFA didn't have our back (I say "our back" but I was a matelot 30 years ago!)
