Yes, the design and materials have improved somewhat, but the costs of manufacturing have actually gone down. You are paying $8,000 for the "feeling" of owning a Rolex, and $2,000 for the watch itself. That, to me, makes the Rolex as fake as a replica. If you want to spend money on an intangible like that, better to spend $400 and get a really pretty good watch then spend $10k on a really good watch plus 80% elitist bullshit.

This "trained eye" argument is nonsense. A Rolex case is mostly stainless steel so it's not that hard to reproduce. If you take an authentic Rolex and run all the pieces through a modern 3D printer, you can easily replicate the case, including the weight. The price is in the $500-1000 range because that's the target price most will spend for a Super clone. The replica market is a BILLION dollar industry. These guys sell thousands of watches for $500 that probably took less than $100 to produce in some Chinese factory. Their margins of return are ridiculous.

You haven't ordered a Hulk, you've ordered a fake.
I’ve seen one of these and they have become scary close . I compared to my gen and really found the markings and general appearance as too close to call from appearance alone with the naked eye . With a loop of course there are tell tales. However the Bezel action and winding action are to me the biggest giveaways. Rolex bezels tends to be very specific and buttery smooth . Rep bezel was fine but not of the same standard . Gritty winding of rep again raises the alarm . One may say that in a piece that’s a few years old the bezel on a gen can lose a little tolerance and of course it’s possible if a watch needs service the winding can be a little gritty so it’s not definitively signs of a rep .but would certainly raise very real doubts in my mind ... . Advice is don’t buy privately unless it is appraised before purchase .. with regards buying reps I suppose it depends whether you want a very good watch or something that resembles a very good watch and may well stop functioning at any time with no right to recourse ..l
Agreed. I think it’s so important to verify the watch before purchasing. The reps are incredible. And while I don’t have a problem with the rep community, there are some people who take reps and sell them as gens.

I just ordered a Sub two tone ceramic bezel from E-bay. The seller is kind of sketchy but I have the security of E-bay`s buyer protection program. I wouldn`t have touched this deal without that. When I started watching your video I was going to ask if you got your money back but you answered that. Did you have much trouble? I haven`t received my watch yet and I will keep you posted as to what happens. Thanks for the info. I think if you had opened the back and got a look at the caliber in there it would have been very obvious. Although frankenwatches are even replicating the blue hairspring or putting actual 3135`s in there.
How did it work out. eBay just launched an authenticity program. Did you go through that? I purchased an Rolex Explorer 114270 that was authenticated by ebays program. It was nice to have the extra security.
@@horologyproject this one didn`t have the authenticity thing. Turns out the guy got a shipping label but it never showed up on tracking. I got my full $7250 back after a little bit of a go around with E-bay, but no problems. I would have never done that deal without the money back E-bay guarantee. I have since bought an Omega Seamaster from an online dealer for $1300 under suggested retail and love it.
This just proves most luxury watch brands are overpriced and companies can make the exact same watch and sell it for a fraction of the price.

My buddy has one of these and frankly it's awesome and I think it's a great way to scratch the Hulk itch if you have it. That said, I agree it is a bit darker which is a little disappointing. The little details don't bother me. I'd buy one. I bought a Pantor Sealion to scratch the green itch. I love it, it is it's own thing, and I feel ok abusing it. I want to buy a Panerai used but am petrified because of all the fakes. I would not buy a Rolex outside of ADs. 2 grey market dealers I trust as well. Careful out there!

Theres some insider information suggesting that Swissarex has access to the Rolex database and uses the same codes on their watches as the original ones. Because of this, its nearly impossible to distinguish them as fakes.

They did dispute the claim, but eBay almost always sides on the buyer. Now eBay has an authenticity programs, so there is more security with them.
You’ll find that after wearing either the genuine or the fake for a couple of years the bracelets loosen up and get a bit sloppy. It would be a heck of lot tougher telling one from the other then. Even the older clones were tough to distinguish from the genuine Rolex if both had a couple of years of wear.

Swissarex watches are like a piece of art on your wrist. Ive never seen better craftsmanship.
Although I had doubts about buying a replica watch, gussl dispelled my doubts. The watch has an authentic look and feel.
I have 10 fake watches, several being gifted to me. They do NOT get much wrist time. An Invicta Pro Diver 30092 with a sunburst blue dial and Jubilee bracelet is the watch I wear 60% of the time.

Which brings me to the most interesting part of this post. The real watches I most covet are unavailable as fakes. No one makes a fake Grand Seiko blue dial Snowflake. No one makes a MontBlanc 1858 GeoSphere. You can also get I can get a real Agelocer celestial moon phase watch for under $1,000. For $500 I can get a MVT customized, vintage looking big crown watch. Debert makes a decent multi-complication dress watch. And why pay $400 for the Men in Black Hamilton Ventura when a real one is under $1,000.
Based on my experience, I would buy a good fake watch if I was really interested in buying a real one. The Daytona experience taught me that you can love a watch from afar and not like it on your wrist. After all you are buying a real $10,000 watch not just for how it looks but for everything else. In my case, I will be buying a few real watches to hand down to my boys as heirlooms. And you do not give a fake watch as an heirloom.

It's a clone movement of the ETA 2824. The genuine Rolex has an in-house 3135. Replica companies also make a clone of that movement, so it's even harder to tell when that is done.

Took me 1 sec to see that it’s a fake. Where it says Swiss made at the bottom of the dial it should have a crown separating the 2 words. Crazy they go through that level of detail and miss something so simple. Also the engraved lettering around the edge each lettering should be exactly in line with each second. If any are slightly off then it’s a fake. That’s the 2 tell tale signs of a fake Rolex. Hope this is helpful to peeps
