You missed the absolute easiest tell even before getting out the loupe. A fake can be spotted instantly by running your fingernail across the ridges on the case back teeth. If it feels a little rough (sharp teeth) its fake. The gen is smooth. Having said that, they are very good now and well worth their asking price of USD 550.00 or so.

None of the "tells" of forgery shown in this video would apply to current production Submariners from Clean Factory or VSF.
VSF's is 99.99% close to original.. its hard to tell them apart even if you open the back

You can not tell when someone is wearing a fake and no comparison Rolex is right there. I have three Rolex and I can’t tell. Makes you wonder why Rolex doesn’t reduce the price after a year of sales. Too much BS hype around Rolex to keep prices up. A time price is a time price to a point. I’m tired of the high price hype. Just tighten the spring on the bezel. I was given a new Addiesdiver and the bezel on the $100 watch is as tight and crisp as any of my Rolexes. Sellers get so picky to justify why we pay too much for these watches. By the way, Rolex steel is softer than the usual surgical steel used. So Rolexes have to be polished more. I think that is stupid.
