    Very nice review! More server reviews please!
    Thou' this might be too hardcore for most of viewers who are looking for home-server or something similar. So maybe if you can review something like Supermicro's small 1U Superserver barebones or out of the box servers, since those are propably enough for most of us as a fileserver, pfsense router or teamspeak server or something like that.

    This channel definitely needs more server videos, keep 'em coming! Also, I would also like to see some Icy Dock / iStarUSA / Lian Li hot-swap bay device reviews as those are pretty hard to come by.

    This is great. I sure would love to see more server vids. Also maybe do a solid server build custom something like a shared infra like dell's vrtx. I am debating a few things so keep 'em coming.

    I worked in Dell's CFS facility in Round Rock with a 3rd party company for a few years. I was in charge of the custom server rack integration team, The 710/720 series was one of my favorite servers to work with due to their reliability. I despised the C6000 series cloud servers though, never seemed to work right

      Having 2 Dishwashers removes the need for loading the clean dishes into cabinets. One DW is labeled as clean and you put the dirty dishes into the other DW. Then after the dirty DW goes through the wash cycle, it is labeled as clean and the other DW is labeled as dirty. Saves a lot of work loading dishes.

    What an awesome setup, would love to see more of this, I just bought a used R710 for labbing purposes. Just achieved my MCSA with it and am headed for MCSE private cloud. Was the idrac in two flavors on this one too? I had to pay an extra $27 for the idrac 6 enterprise. And my PSUs are 570w power saving but I do not believe they have a 80 plus rating. I love how Dell now includes the little pcie power connectors on yours. I have the perc 6/I Controller pcie with battery backup and have been pretty happy with it so far. I run vSphere 6.0u2 with about 19 VMs including a HA cluster(for lab only since it's not technically HA with one physical sever). 2x X5560s 32GB RAM and only a couple SAS drives. But definitely a good starting point for me. Awesome video guys really enjoyed it.

    Yes .. More server stuff ! I love it. Keep up the good work. Me personally I am interested in Visualization and Storage. I do this for a living, and I am always interested in anyone knowledgeable's ideas and thought on opensource distro's. Be it Nas or more VM based. I am interested in all of it ! Thanks Wendell :)

    This might not be what you guys tend to do, but it'd be really awesome if you made some introductory videos about servers and stuff. I could probably search up the basics, but since this is an area of tech most gamers don't know about/ aren't too interesting in, it'd be really cool if you guys made an interesting video on it. Just a suggestion :)

    Another Enterprise review :)
    I love reviews on Enterprise/Commercial Grade products. Mostly because they're very cheap about 3 years later on eBay. I'd rather get a 3 year old HP Elitebook for $400 that was worth $2,000 three years ago than to get a new $350 Laptop from Walmart. Though I haven't seen cheap hand-me-down servers from eBay that are only 3 years old, but it's good to be in the know!

    Thank you for the indepth review of this Dell 720R Blade Server. It is very very informative I like that you ordered it with 128 megs of ram. one thing I did not catch was is the mem ddr3 or ddr4 just out of curiosity. FInally dell made the uefi so that any on the fly changes do not require a reboot. The clients we support buying Dell servers use the floor chassis T420 and in even the 2104 models the eufi changes require a reboot. The same with idrac as well. I emailed my idrac support rep asking if Dell is going to push a firmware update that will allow on the fly idrac and eufi changes without a reboot, still waiting for a reply. Thank you for the video very good internal review and explaination.

    So what do these Dell Power Edge Servers do? I brought 2 750 Power Edge and 1 Power Edge 1850 for only $19.50 on ebay. Can they host Websites and Domains or are they just used for home network storage like NAS?

    • @SgtSayWhat
      @SgtSayWhat 8 років тому

      +MrN00btroller You can do what you want with them. Install Linux and away you go. Domains are sorted out by DNS companies in data centres so you would need to edit your DNS settings, with the company you used to get it, to redirect requests to that domain to your servers

      lol, a raid is no supplement for a backup.
      Raid is Raid, leave it alone and don't take disks from it.
      Backup is Backup, you do it regulary in your operating system (hopefully) with software dedicated to do backups.
