I moved to a new house and we had to get furniture, like a bed, couch, dining set etc. We wanted something quickly, and something nice too, so we went to one of these places. Well, here I am burning my paycheck by paying twice the base price for furniture, monthly, with a few months left... it really sucks. Just don't. Go to a thrift store, get the dinky (and sometimes actually quite nice) furniture, and save for the good stuff.
At least in the store I've seen they explain the total cash price, total leasing fees and total combined. It's even on their price cards. I agree go to a thrift store but a lot of people wanna show off with new furniture. Then they'll complain when they get the store knocking on their door for payment
Having good credit and taking out a personal loan from a bank is a far better choice or using a temporary alternative until I have the money such as supporting a broken couch with old books or resorting to the laundromat from a broken washer that cannot be repaired.
The american way of buying. Slapping a credit card on everything and then paying monthly payments with high interests. I can see why most people are living a 3rd tier lifestyle.
Sadly an example of corporations that are determine to keep poor people in debt. She had the money to payoff the debt but a representative told her she missed the deadline and had to continue paying the payment or it would look poorly on her credit. I agree buyers have to beware. Always check the small print with companies like this and it's best just to save and purchase outright than to enter in scams like these.
This is one of the best/worst examples of why I don't deal with credit. At all. When I buy an electronic product, vehicle, or anything else I make sure I have the money to buy it outright.
@hellcat1988- what a concept. Save your money until you can pay outright for it. Now you’re smacking the face of the new American Dream. “I deserve it NOW and someone will sell it to me on payments! I can’t be a baller with some used ass furniture. If I don’t have the $4000 leather sofa, people will think I’m a scrub!”
In 2013 Rent a Center told me they had a brand new Mac Book Air. I started this in 2013 and found out months later that it was a late refurbish late 2010. Which does not air play anything but iTunes. Apple changed the air play feature in 2013 to where one can airplay the whole Mac. When I found out what I really had I called Renta Center and asked them to exchange mine for a 2013 model. I was told NO. you signed the papers so you're stuck. I won't be doing rent to own ever again!
This is hilarious xD you absolutely have 120 days to pay at Aaron's, I work there as a delivery guy, what she thought was if you pay the minimum payments you get it for the cash price, no it doesn't work that way, the minimum payments are if you ride out the whole length of the lease (12 18 or 24 months) that includes the leasing fees, the cash price is listed on the contract and if you don't understand it always ask the gm they'll explain it, the leasing fees are basically you paying for the convenience of not paying for it up front, also paying for the fact that we'll fix or replace things if anything happens and it's unusable, but yeah there was definitely miscommunication there, if you have any questions about it ask me I'll happily answer any questions you have
Exactly. Instead of buying a “scratch and dent” that would work just as well, these “math geniuses” want the brand new blinged out version. All they hear is “For $33 a week, you can have this beautiful new Maytag W&D that practically puts the clothes in the washer for you!” They never ask what the final cost will be. Then they cry “victim” because they never take the time to do their own due diligence. My wife and I are at a point where we can comfortably pay cash for pretty much anything we want. It wasn’t like that 30 years ago when we first got married. We bought what we could AFFORD and that was often cheap furniture from Wal Mart.
Both so called companies are criminals and they go unnoticed. Rent o center actually sends huge goons to collect. They did it to my ex neighbor. They actually broke into the secure buzz in hallway then broke the door knob of our hallway with a wrench...THEN! they walked to the this guys door and broke his peak hole completely off so they can see in his apartment. There were five massive guys like 6'4. F you rent a center thanks for the warning lol
Aarons rentals is a company without integrity. I have 0 problems paying $1000+ more paying this way. It's more the lack of good customer service and their blatant disregard for the ppl that keep their doors open.
I was trying to find a Nintendo switch and went to Aaron’s. They told me it would be $700 to buy it. I told them to suck it and shamed them for screwing poor people.

Wait until you read about the multiple bed bug stories in their furniture. 😅
NEVER Rent To Own. Don't even get to the point of "reading the contract".

Tony Akinremi Yeah ! But u don’t get credit for it. So why would they want to report it ? It’s crazy
I call those rent to own stores parasites that pray on the poor.

Don't live beyond your means, simple as that.
CR is absolutely right but it is better than buying.
Never even step inside a rent to own store. just an upscale pawn shop
mrkjsmooth16 nah man.. A pawn shop us waaay better than rent to own place
Very informative! Thanks
People are better off buying used if they can’t afford new.
It costs more to be poor; or, to not have all the money all at once.
Of course is a scam . everything that is advertized for poor people or bad credit fellows is a scam . when we gonna learn?

So stupid buy used, or buy cheaper you have options

I'll keep buying from Get It Now, I'd rather make payments vs buying outright
That’s prolly why you’re broke all the time

I’m sure the store manager lost 3 seconds of sleep that night over you.
I cringed when I heard "que-pon" instead of "koo-pon".
What a parasitic business.🤔👎
