- Subfreezing Winter Camping in a 4x4 RV Truck Camper with me Larry, a solo nomad living in a truck camper. After an unexpected heavy snow fall near Flagstaff, AZ. The roads aren't plowed and camping is near impossible to find. I go deep into the forest on an untraveled road that hasn't been plowed and nearly get stuck!! I have to back up my truck and camper several miles because I wasn't able to turn around due to the deep snow. I find shelter near a relaxing roadside parking area for a trail and sleep for the night. My heater has issues and has problems starting!! Below freezing temps makes being outside unbearable so me and the dogs stay inside and warm all night. I make a warm pot of jambalaya and thaw out my feet. I did this same thing a couple weeks ago. I have camped most of my adult life so I should have known better. But I took a chance and it cost me dearly. While trying to rock myself out I ended up losing my reverse in my truck and was stuck out there for almost 2 weeks before I was able to get out. Remember this is your home while your out there. I learned the hard way.
Thanks for the advice, I always get worried in situations like that because I would never want to leave my home out there in the woods of it got stuck. Honestly I get worried when I walk into Walmart that I’ll get robbed while I’m inside for an hour. It’s nerve racking to know how easy it is to lose everything. I was thinking about going back towards Flagstaff today actually and camp in the snow again but maybe ur comment is a sign not to go!! Thanks so much for watching 🤙

Oh gosh Truck C, I'm sorry. What a way to ruin a great adventure. I've often thought about suggesting a winch to Larry on the front or back to help in a situation like this. It gets scary when you're out there alone, maybe spotty cell service. But I wouldn't know much either. Hope you got it fixed- transmissions are expensive.. take care

And I am a little worried about Mason. It seems he sleeps all the time. It doesn't seem normal to me. Just wanted to point it out. Keep camping and enjoying your life!
Well, I started out with a Chihuahua that was very old and then I ended up getting Frasier and Mason when she was older and they were puppies. She basically taught them to do nothing but sleep all the time. He does get up and play in spurts and I love watching him get excited and run play but yes, he does sleep a lot. According to the veterinarian, he is healthy as can be! Thank you so much for your concerns. Thank you so much for watching. 🙏
He will let you know it aless my cat did and will hurt I still to his grave and talk to him but have a bigger cat now and his mom when he passes he will be wating for you at the gate God will take care of him

Yeah I still have it, I just don’t normally take it too far because it’s harder to find boondocking spots. Plus nobody likes seeing me camping in that so I don’t normally video tape those trips haha. Although I do have a big trip planned in the spring to take it up to Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah so I’ll be videoing taping a lot of that trip. Thanks for watching Frank 🤙

What is weight of yr camper and did you have to do any mods to yr dually to suspension
Hey Rich thanks for watching! As for the weight of the camper, the owners manual says 1650lbs with water and propane tanks filled. Of course all my gear adds to that weight but I have never weighed it at the truck scales. My truck has always handled it very well and it’s totally bone stock.
A good set of chains will save your bacon.
Dont your truck got 4 wheel drive you should be OK
