I've just noticed how twice in the song, the lyrics at the end of one verse lead directly into the next- "you will surely lose (your head. -Was) in a bad place when you punched...." and "wouldn't laugh when he saw (you. -Are) the invisible man..." See? Mike's awesome lyric writing abilities.
It does it like ten other times, too. "You mechanic (your wifes) overdose was a success" "Running was ironic cuz it was the last time (you would) wish the kid you tried to help wouldn't laugh when he saw you"
@adelsaint well that's a matter of great philosophical debate whether you believe in God or not but you're point of view is as valid as any. I'm not even sure what I believe on whether we can control our own future or if we're just following a path no matter what we do
I see its meaning as more akin to "Delusions may seem real, until they aren't there to back you up.". On the other hand, the question "Where is your god now?" is usually a rhetoric placed when one has humiliated and left their opponent at their mercy.
I think you're missing the point of that part of the song. He's not mocking the guy that got shot; He was directing his spite toward the man's supposed God. "You thought it was a Christian thing to do/Breaking up that fight at school". The entire reason he got involved in the fight is because of his beliefs. The "God" he so vehemently worshipped and praised ended up being the one to fuck his entire life over. Hence why he "flushed (his belief in God) with (his) first piss bag."
I belive in God but this song is right God wont save you when u screw up God.... u are supposed to decide your future and noooo people this song isnt athiest or blasphemy its just real life
Empire, that's kind of the point. Fat Mike is a known atheist, and had a well documented disregard for people who blindly follow the bible. The point of this song is to say 'if you're god is so great, why does all this shit happen to people who believe it?' he's not laughing at someone who was Christian and got shot, the events probably never happened. It's more like 'would you still follow so truly and blindly if all this shit happened to you?'
If god is real and I meet him when I die I'll ask then what did one of my best friends do to deserve being stabbed 22 times in a hate crime. Then I'll flip him and happilly go to hell.
I've found the light at the end of my tunnel without the help of god. If anything, I've done better ever since I left my church and let that bag of shit called Christianity get flushed. My life pretty much improved, no more waking up early on sunday mornings to make some sweet tea while listening to music for a bunch of old people. No more crush that's probably way too young for me and is too busy cutting her arms to notice me. No more singing along to some bullshit songs. So yes my faith was "tested" to it's limit and my life has been better ever since I gave up for good like an old smoking habit.
@@Thatonefuckinguy I can relate,my real point of break was when I woke at the hospital after a 6 day blacked out. Died for a couple seconds too the doctors said,I saw no light,no dead relatives,no hell either,I don't remember shit aside from a hallucination of a land made of candy(weirdest shit I dreamed during the coma and the only thing I remembered) Religion only tried to hold me back, control me and never let me to be happy, but after almost dying and realizing life might end at any second I decided it was better be true to myself.
Like the song but I feel like "bad things happen how could a loving God let this happen" is one of the absolute weakest arguments for atheism. I know for lots of people it was ultimately the impetus for their deconstruction but I feel like it's the kind of thing that can be easily explained away by a slightly different interpretation of religious text, or by another religion, which really isn't the point

When they stop telling me I'm going to hell for kissing my girlfriend I'll leave them alone .
Could start some delicious religion arguments on this page.

The acoustic version is much better.
Dedicated to the religious figure Job.
@JustSiouxMe That's actually exactly what Presbyterianism is.
I eat nails for lunch! My Dr. Told me to stop though, it may kill me.

This song is so edgy, I accidentally cut myself just from listening to it.
I just held my wrists out while it was playing, cuts mysteriously started appearing.

I totally and unreservedly share nofx's hatred of religion. If you believe in god, you are wrong.
real people either dont believe in anything, or don't care.
So many edgy atheists in the comments
If being logical = being edgy I'll be edgy happilly.
