  • There is so much that can be done with cardboard of all types; not just corrugated cardboard. And because free cardboard from the recycle bin is basically endless, that leads to nearly endless possibilities for projects and ideas that can be explored.
In this video, I tried spray painting some very thin cardboard. Once the paint dried, I got very different results depending on which side of the cardboard I sprayed.
I hope that this video inspires you to think creatively and come up with ways to use this abundant resource.

I find as I get older, I have less tolerance for loud noises. Whenever I am in my shop using a loud power tool like the BladeRunner or a shop vac, I wear these earmuffs.

The matte finish which surprised me. I see some copper and bronze in my future.

Hey Jim. How's everything going? I sometimes see you post something about your (?) Shopsmith on FB. Yea, I started this channel back in 2017 as a big experiment and her I am today almost at 6,000 subs and over 1.2 million views. All from one guy in his garage. I never would have guessed. Good to hear from you.

It is certainly useful to have an evaluation of probable potential applications for future reference.
Thank you for reporting on that.
As far as preference, I can see uses for all of the results.
In my experience, recognizing potential comes much faster than useful applicability.
Sorry to LOL and sidestep but time flew.

Totally agree. I tend to gravitate to a more textured finish but sometimes it might be nice to have a mirrored finish. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

    No preference. I like both.
For some projects one finish may be preferable, by the same token, other projects may be better with the other finish. Just an observation.
    Thanks for the content.
    Keep up the good work.

    Team matte finish.

A matte finish or any non-glossy finish will take less maintenance. A glossy finish will show every imperfection. I install epoxy floors so ask me how I know, he, he.

I totally agree. For my projects, the matte finish is a lot more forgiving. I also think the projects look more interesting when there is a texture to the finish. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

I like both but how do they wear?

Good question. I didn't wear test the pieces you see in this video. However, I can tell you that my wife still uses, everyday, the tablet stand that I made for her ( ua-cam.com/video/ULP35cypmH4/v-deo.htmlsi=-R8TK2J-GnTsVmdD ). Everyday, I still use the box I made for inside my dresser drawer ( ua-cam.com/video/W8A-KvtsOPs/v-deo.htmlsi=qXTbWeVAhSZ4BcyU ). Both of these projects were used to test some of my ideas about building with corrugated cardboard and chip board. I would say each project has been successful and has stood the test of time DESPITE not having any protective finish applied. I am encouraged to make more projects and when I do, I will probably make more videos so stay tuned!
Thanks for your question and for watching.

Thanks for your comment. I think I still prefer the matte finish; to me the matte finish gives the cardboard a texture which I find more interesting. The really shiny finish is great if I ever wanted to create the look of foil.
Thanks again for your comment and for watching. Please do me a favor and leave me a thumbs up on my reply so I know you read it. thanks
