WOW! This is going to be a challenge. I thought setting up the equipment was going to be the hard part. Nope! So, I have a windows laptop to donate to the cause but not a Linux. I don't have any experience with Centos.
Isn't there a way to set it up with a GUI instead of line.

I believe you need to change the gateway mode to use the USB for the external gateway.

Still looking for the icom software, you keep saying provided and it was never provided to me or in the repeater box. How did you get it?
Okay where did you get the RP3 SOFTWARE?
Up to this point I have thought Icom was the best radios available. After purchasing the 2010 2 meter repeater and have found that the repeater is only ment to be a D-star repeater with FM analog being only a after thought. It appears that you cannot use an external controller with NO analog inputs or outputs.
When you attempt to connect to or use D-star requires far more complex equipment and knowledge. Come on Icom, put all necessary D-star information in a video and include it with all necessary software and instructions on one CD or Thumb drive!. That is why a lot of people hate digital modes because it forces them into a new game and that of computer tech as opposed to being a radio person. Well even though I am a computer person as well as being a radio person trying to figure out D-star is a pain in the ass. So come on people where is that one Video entitled " Digital Radio, NOOB to EXPERT IN ONE SESSION" .
1. Any special requirements to operate a DSTAR repeater? 2. Who assigns the frequencies? 3. Can one be setup in a temporary location, such as a vacation spot or a ham festival? Thanks.
nothing special compared to a FM, DMR, Fusion,..... repeater. Frequencies in the US should be coordinated with your local coordinator. I don't see issues with a temporary setup, make sure you don't cause interference and coordinate with the coordinators/local repeater owners...
Okay Why cant I get the necessary USB software to program the 2010 repeater. And where did you get yours I just want to get mine set up to run but i cant get the software i think it is the RP3 SOFTWARE . I ALSO NEED TO KNOW HOW TO ADD EXTERNAL PTT AND TX AUDIO BUT I HAVE HAD NO COOPERATION FROM ICOM AND SO FAR CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN NO HELP WHAT SO EVER. There is NO EXCUSE for Icom to not provide inside the box a thumb drive with any necessary software required to get this pig on the air including necessary USB drivers and the software that is required to program the controller and set the frequencies to operate on. I have spent 48 hours trying to download software that is or is not on "Drop box" and or is zipped files that are not self extracting zip files. There is no excuse for what is charged for this hardware for there not to be everything needed included in the box! And what the hell is the deal with using a USB B connector on anything any more? So can anyone help with what I need for this thing?
When repeater unit receives a signal the RX indicator becomes green! this never happened in this video and we see only TX becomes red > ? De VU2EHY
