Love this ranking Darcy, I think you're right, looks like the only Raven ranking one on UA-cam, which is a shame. My order is a bit different, but that's all part of the fun.
I'm lucky enough to be reviewing their new one, and its a great follow up to Metal City and ExtermiNation.

Finally! A long overdue Raven ranking on YT!!! Thank you Darcy!!! I love this little band from the UK (ok, ok, US for many years now...).
Since "Glow" and "One For All" have been released on vinyl last year I am now the proud owner of their whole catalogue on black wax.
They were one of the very first bands I saw live, May 11, 1989 in my hometown supporting Kreator on their "Extreme Aggressions" tour. My first Raven was "Life´s a Bitch" so I´m glad you ranked it that high. My overall fave release is the "Mad" EP.
Those reissues on High Roller are fantastic, awesome quality artwork and extras. The two albums never sounded better than here, remastered from the OG tapes by my friend Patrick Engel.
I was about to listen to "Criteria..." from Annihilator but after watching the video I´m in the mood to spin some Raven, hahaha....

Well done. I’d have to revisit their 90s and 00s output in order to compile a comprehensive ranking, but here’s my top 5:

Wow! I didn't realize they had that many. They remind me of a British version of Anthrax. How many of us old metal timers still remember their drummer "Wacko". Kind of reminded me of "Thunderstick", the original drummer for Samson. Thanks for filling me in on the albums I was not aware of.

Raven are so overlooked great great band. Saw them in 2019 at a club in my city only 20 people there. But they played like the place was full for two hours 18 songs. Have much respect for these guys. Take care as always 🤘

It was precisely the corny cover and sub-par songs from you last place choice - The Pack is Back, that steered me off of Raven back in the day. This video was a great intro to their discography because I'm sure they have at least a few good albums. I'm surprised that they're still around if they started in '74, that predates Maiden and Saxon! Great video as always, Darcy. 🤘

Really enjoyed this! I’m a casual fan of Raven.Don’t own any albums yet.But I saw them here in Louisville back in November and they where AMAZING live! John Gallagher is one of the greatest Bassist I’ve ever seen.Definitely gonna check out some of these albums 🍻
Man awesome video. Raven are so amazing. I even really like the pack is back. I would rank it very low in the catalog as well but still love it. Haha. Man top 3 for me would be very hard to decide. Rock until you drop, all for one, or life’s a bitch. That’s a very tough decision. Think I read awhile back John said they had a bunch of stuff written so hopefully it won’t be 5 years between albums. 🤘awesome video brother. 🤘

It’s a very good album, it will be in my Top 10 of 2023 easy!
All For One is an alltime classic and my favorite as well! I’ve said for years that Raven’s “Seek and Destroy” shits all over Metallicas. Unpopular opinion I’m sure. But I just adore that album. Probably a top 20 album for me. On a side note, I’ve always suspected Dave Mustaine was trying to sound like John Gallagher with his snarls. There is only one John Gallagher though. Good list man!
Hey Darcy, very well done! "Architect of Fear" was my first Album, bought it when I was 16 or so... and then, I lost track o them a bit. I rediscovered them some time ago. Great Band, fantastic ranking... keep going!

Great ranking video Darcy. I am still building my Raven collection. My personal favourite is Architect Of Fear. Their heaviest by far. The first Raven i purchased was Walk Through Fire. A couple of years ago, i was lucky to find Raven's special compilation cd Mind Over Metal. Have a great week my friend 🍻.

Doctor Eddie Ganja Here I got into Raven back in 1983 Saw an ad in HitParader Magazine for Megaforce Records promoting Metallica Raven All for One album then I went to Record Bar and bought All For One That's when I really got into Johnny Zazulas label and then alot of Bands like Raven Armored Saint Still love Raven they never sold out commercial
Man, it would've been nice to see that Raven and Metallica concert back in the day.

Problem is Metallica now is looking to do shows with rock/pop bands like Greta Von Fleet. They don’t do shows with metal bands anymore. They are more interested to do duets with Miley Cirus and Lady Gaga than they are interested to collaborate with metal band. Sad but true

Again, taking on the impossible lol. Really never understood Stay Hard, but you pretty nicely nailed a great list. Everyone is going to share different opinions but I agreed with most of your share. Another good posting!! A band I used to play in called Eviction, is playing a reunion show at a Pittsburgh metal fest in June that Raven is headlining. Can’t wait to see them!! Been way too long since they’ve been here. I believe it was 2010/11 since they played in our city, so can’t wait!! Great post, take care!!

Opening bands: I picked Raven over Dokken in 1986 on the Judas Priest tour. Irvine was the place. The next day JP played was San Diego with Dokken. I would see Dokken on the 1988 Van Halen Monsters of Rock tour. I enjoyed Raven live. 🤘🎸

Great ranking Darcy. This one will be a great reference. I know their first few and their latest as well as Glow, which I like, but it sounds like there's plenty more to be discovered. I think the problem in the past was trying to find the less well known ones. I'd agree with your top few. I may have metal city higher though, only because I know it well. Nice one Darcy.
Love THE PACK IS BACK hahaha. Love the cover, most of the songs too. Sounds like QUIET RIOT sometimes. I understand the hate but i am one of the few that like the album i think. I agree with GLOW, that one was not so good. Okay, i am going on watching. Always interesting your ranking videos Darcy

I did ranking list myself about a year or so ago but never did a video for it. I don’t remember exactly what the ranking was but it was difficult. Even though I love the title track to Pack is Back, I wasn’t really keen on the rest of it. Love those early albums, but also really liked the 90’s era. Extermination and Metal City are amazing. Now I can watch the video. 😁

Raven is one of those bandsyou love from the very first time you listen to them, my introduction to them was "All for One" killer stuff, then lost track of them after "Life's a Bitch"..... their latest stuff is not easy to get, another one that's nearly impossible to get is their cover's album "Party Killer" another fun record, if you like covers albums. cheers

Raven such a great and underrated band. 80s is the sweet spot for me and nothing compared to Rock Till you Drop and Wiped Out, but your #1 is still a fantastic album. Where would you place Live At The Inferno in your ranking?

Thank you for doing this! Was quite interesting for me to watch. ( Totally agree about "Glow", just listenend to this here, and it was mostly not enjoayable...) I do not own all albums, the older stuff on vinyl and some on CD. But: Even if nobody is interested I am the (proud) own of "All for one" on CD, saw it on a thrift store just last year: No booklet, no backcover, just the CD for 1.-€ and of course bought that! :-) 😀I remember the guys have always been cool to us (fans), I can recall they opened for Running Wild (?) I believe and signed all my vinyl incl. the double-live. Also saw them couple years back on the ExtermiNation Tour and can remember I talked to John about "Die for Allah" 🤫 and the brothers signed my DvD Booklet, the DVD is also very cool. I am sure you have this?

I would agree with must of the placing for this ranking, Nothing Exceeds was always an underrated album IMO, Wiped Out and All For One are classics!!! 2. Life’s a Bitch 1. Stay Hard, that album always brings back so many great memories and hey let’s face it, we all love seeing Wacko with that hockey helmet, I need more Raven in my collection….. Great list. What about the Live At The Inferno live album? Did you like it? I personally think that it's one of the best live records of all-time. I own it on Banzai Records here in Canada.

Now that they have released every Raven album on vinyl, I finally own them all (never been a cd-guy, not even in the nineties). My favorite is their debut Rock Until You Drop, my number 14 is Glow. That’s just awful, were they trying to jump on the grunge-train of the nineties? Love it that you’re ranking Architect Of Fear and especially Life’s A Bitch so high, for they are great records ❤

I hated "The Pack is Back " when I was a kid, but having repurchased it I can say I really like it now. It's softer but Raven are masters at writing a catchy hook/chorus. Same with Stay Hard, I love that album too. I will say I can listen to TPIB and enjoy it, but I still don't like Judas priest's Turbo, even though it's better than Ram it Down. I don't own 3 albums YET, Glow being one of them. I actually like Walk Through Fire a lot...probably more tan Extermination. I'm looking forward to getting Everything Louder and One For All. All for One is my favourite though. I will go out on a limb and say that Rock Until You drop is my least favourite because their lack of experience as song writers really shows the most on this album. It's still a fun album though. I agree with life's a Bitch 100%. It's taken me a while to enjoy Architect of Fear because I felt Mark changed his zany, classic heavy metal guitar style to a more restrained, palm muted, thrash metal style. It comes of heavier but also more generic. I was really bored of thrash at the time so I didn't give this album the attention it deserves but I've warmed up to it
I’d love to see a nice little vinyl box set of The Atlantic Years , 3 LPs & the Mad Ep , I’d pick that up for sure ! One For All & Everything Louder are both worth picking up , hope you able to add them to your collection . Thanks for the great comment & thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I have everything up to Life's a bitch on vinyl. I've been selling off a bunch of vinyls that I have on CD too. I've just been listening to CDs more these days. I like the sound and cool factor of vinyl, but space, price, and ease of listen is turning me back to CDs.
