Did you stop at the Samoa Cookhouse? Nice place to have dinner. You eat at picnic tables and everyone eats the same thing family style. Good place to eat.
Really pretty there. I believe the succulents that are flowering in the dunes is called Ice Plant. You will sleep good tonight with the ocean sounds around you!
Thanks for the video. I have relatives that live in Eureka they run a Air B & B out of their home. We will be going through there late summer or early fall.
Love your gas prices. I have a zipup hoodie from Redwood Harley Davidson in Eureka. Robinson Crusoe, foot prints in the sand. I don’t know which way you are going but there is Coquille Valley Elks # 1935 on Maple Heights road off of Oregon Highway 42. They did have a golf course. Have sunny travels Russ.
I'm so glad I found this channel tonight. You were an awesome diversion from the so- called presidential debate. I started down south with you on 17 Mile drive and still with you. Keep up the good work!
The Thursday before Memorial Day, I flew out to San Francisco with my girlfriend and we did the Muir Woods/ 17 Mile Drive before boarding a train to Chicago from near Oakland on Saturday (SF does not have a main railroad station). I saw your video on 17 Mile Drive and Bixby Creek Bridge and sent her a text to not forget to pack a rain jacket of some sort! We didn't get rain, but it was overcast despite a weather forecast of "sunny". All of this fancy doppler radar equipment and they still can't accurately predict the weather!
Just goes to show one can always learn something. After traveling through that area at least once, sometimes twice per year in our little rv, somehow I missed the county campground!!! Been to samoa. Ate at the camp kitchen. Spent time at the choo-choo museaum/facility next door, (very cool),. And hiked the dunes. Yet,... still missed the campground and instead, choose the koa camp, (about halfway between where you entered the bridge and where you exited the isthmus? Is that what it's called? But we had a couple kids and koa's are good for that - but they still cost considerably more and have their downside sometimes. Next time - heading out to the country campground to see if I can get a space. In the morning - back to the samoa camp kitchen for breakfast then visit the choo-choos next door. All the things I like in one small place. Cheers.
Hey Russ, How far north are you going ??? Coming up to Washington ?? There is a LOT. More to see then you saw last time. You never even made it to Mt.Raineir....
@@rvertv So, PM me & let me know, we can make room in driveway. Have WA maps, You should see off beaten path things that WA has to offer... Would love to do a meet up... Beer is on me !!! Travel safe my friend....
Watch out for them Wharf-Rat's around Humboldt Bay, they'll carry off your spare tire if your not watching. Beautiful area with Mountains Redwoods River and Ocean Beaches. Even the homeless in Ca know a good spot when they see it, but for the most part the crimes are petty theft homeless drug addicts. It's a very beautiful area of Ca. Thanks for sharing your journey and hope you enjoyed Humboldt.
You dont want to stay at any of most of the local motels in Eureka, not unless you want to bring bed bugs, roches and rodent's into your rig. And I noticed somebody already warned you to keep your rig locked at all times. A lot of tweekers.
Is it really as dangerous as “they” say it is in Eureka, CA? Crack heads? Tweekers? Needles? White supremacist? Insane poverty? From your clip Eureka looks awesome compared to LA!
Yes, tweekers. It's bad. The road he came in on is where a lot of them hang out in the bushes and surrounding roads by that mall. It's been that way for years. Haven't been up that way in about three years but used to go once or twice a year - but since you're asking and the homeless population in the state is exploding the last few years - that tells me it's the same or worse. Don't leave any of your valuables outside in that area. Best to just keep moving. Even the locals will tell you the town has problems. Sad, as its such a beautiful part of the state.

When I was in high school we used to run the Samoa dunes for cross country practice. Quite a workout for the calves!
🙋♀️ Good morning Russ! Thanks! Your video is so crystal clear I can almost smell the ocean. Could spend days in that spot. Stay safe out there!🌷
Really pretty there. I believe the succulents that are flowering in the dunes is called Ice Plant. You will sleep good tonight with the ocean sounds around you!
Thanks for the video. The yellow flowers are Ice Plant.
I'm planning to take a trip down the Oregon coast in my van. This video really helps as Eureka would be the area I would end up in. THANKS Russ!
Mellow and pleasant vibes on your California adventures. I'm enjoying, thanks!
Thanks for another great video!! Really enjoyed drone footage at the end. Take care sir!
Have you ever gone to the town of Ferndale? You would have past it on the way to Eureka.
Thanks for the video. I have relatives that live in Eureka they run a Air B & B out of their home. We will be going through there late summer or early fall.
Did the trip up the coast to Eureka a few years ago, real pretty country. You love Trinidad. Have a nice trip.
Playing in the sand for some fun. Happy trails.
"This is mighty K-RED broadcasting too you from the heart of the redwood empire".🗽🗽🗽👍👍👍
Looks like a nice stop for an over nighter.

So glad you stopped there! I had totally forgotten about that place. I took the kayak out there once. Oh, boy, I wanna go back...

How was the wind? Could you pitch & stake a tent successfully for the kids in that sandy soil?
yes
Wow. A coin operated shower and no pockets for coins! Lol
When driving thru Eureka and Arcata and you see a low hanging cloud, don't breath too deep.😂😂😂
I'm enjoying this so much I drove up through Big Sur to Monterrey yesterday.

I managed without Google Maps for years, relying on AAA maps and Thomas Bros. maps. Google Maps has proven to be quite the game changer!
Thanks for the ride !! No clouds for me I need sunshine Arizona is better !!! Great videos !!!!

Hi Russ. How would this trip up the coast be in a 40 footer towing a Jeep?

Yay!👋
nice camp ground
After living in your van, I'm sure you wouldn't even mind paper currency operated showers, eh?? LoL
What's with the bumper to bumper traffic on the opposite side???
Wide load trucks or construction at 2:48 2 lane to 1 lane bottle neck
👋😊
What’s the history behind this SAMOA town ?

Isaac B eureka has all those problems you mentioned but it’s not on the same scale as LA.
Isaac B I still love eureka though
