This is some fantastic vfx. This is a very difficult thing to pull off, and you did a brilliant job. it isn't perfect. I'm not sure if it was the lighting on the plane, or the explosions that gave it away a bit, but it's still a stellar job, especially for 1 person and in only a few months :D congratulations.

Awesome, An inspirational? 9-11 I believe :D However it is much better or excellent than 9-11, There is real drama in your video VFX but not 9-11 which was flop by the overacting.
Speed of footage is fine, planes needs to go a little faster sunny day = lighter shadows, light will reflect off more things the overall plane needs to be more darker and reflective - Good Work Manemax :)
Looks nice..!!! But is inconceivable WRONG..! Why? Because of the distance between objects. Consider the following...1)The distance from the camera to the roof of the white building, is about 300 feet. 2) The airplane, considering it has a 160 feet wingspan; being a DC-10 which looks to be about 600 feet from the camera. 3) The smoke stack is about good 1500 feet away from the camera. You are left with an enigmatic 1000 feet of space, where you could place the path of your plane....Either; move you plane away 1400 feet; have it impact the smoke stack and forget the building or bring the plane a little closer, make the plane impact the roof of the building, but leave the smoke stack intact...All the effects are there, and look very impressive, but then the inquiring mind begins to wonder...then there's all these explanations...You will only end up with a very convincing, almost real cinematic event.
El Diablo There are probably some mistakes in scale/speed of the plane but at that time I wasn't very much aware of it as it was my first ever project where I created and composed so many things. Anyway, thank you very much for watching and for such a detailed comment. Cheers
Mane In the contrary; thank you for being open about people commenting on your work and not responding in the typical absurd and offensive way most people do in this channel. I which I knew 1/2 of the stuff you know about animation...You are going to do great..!! Cheers.!
The MD-11's vertical speed when it first enters the frame is very high; in real life it would have continued down at the very high angle it initially has and impacted on that side of the tall building it hits. Somehow the plane magically adjusts glideslope within the space of half a second.
Really really nice. The only thing I would have changed is the smoke, fire and explosion at the end. You know, since the plane is going in the right direction, it seems more natural for that stuff to go in the same direction. Also, the plane size, but someone already told you about that. Cheers.
Maurits Van der pol i am dutch but srsly klm did crash too... so i would shut up.. klm was the case the biggest plane crash in the world happen so i should think first then comment and search for wikipedia there are klm crashes too so ahum...
How did u use Rayfire with animation and destruction on the wing. If I add animation to a scene, I then can’t break the object as RF then does it’s on sim
I am really very impressed with this. For being generated by a computer, it looks extremely realistic. I feel ashamed that the hardest thing I know how to do with Blender is put in a few shapes and move the corners around.
Another question: why did you reconstruct all the footage in 3d (min 2:16)? It was simpler than use the original footage (together with the mask you created with rotoscoping)?

Wow brilliant work!! The only thing that I'd complain about are the many sirens going off instantly to the plain crash, there should be a bit of silence right after the crash.
Very nicely done and great breakdown on how you put the pieces to gether. really like how the smokestack came down. Two critiques. #1 The planes movements were not natural until about 0:07 seconds in. And the smoke was rising way too fast, should have followed the flight path of the plane. #2 Way too much dust coming from the eaves of the building at 0:15
Pretty good attempt. I do like all the details you put in using Fume stock footage elements. Biggest thing as others have said and really this scene would have worked better with a nearly full 3d recreation, house needed a little more destruction, a wing like that would half destroy it. The plane is about 1/4 the size it should be and the fire simulation was a bit off which you acknowledged. Still you had all the right ideas and I'm sure you are much better by now. Pretty impressive for the consumer software 6 yrs ago.
I would love to see a roto tutorial from you. I want to see how people ho after those tiny wires and telephone poles. Yeah I know that feeling. You learn every day. And even in a middle of an projekt you wish to star all over. Because you know you can make faster and better :)
Mane , why not here? At, least can I give you credits, when I finish my project?(I don't mean to be offencive or rude or something) I'm making a brony-style Command & Conquer RTS "fake"-game as a series of videos, the second video will be this you made with the speech of a reporter about antibrony hijackers who captured the plane. If you ever played Command & Conquer and watched the intro, you will understand that I get the inspiration from the attacks of NOD in GDI's offices.
I wouldn't make it faster, were talking about heavy aircraft planes here. Any big heavy aircraft plane moves at that speed when it comes crashing down. You did awesome manemax! You don't have to change a bit in my perspective.
I think that the aeroplanes flight animation needs some work also it would be more realistic if the camera followed the plane from the start and if it was zoomed in from far away. Also the smoke lacked detail but would have taken ages to bake/render if you had given it more samples.
Need your help man. So i animated everything i want, then i rendered the "Clean Animation without Fume". now I want to render the FumeFx "section" without the other object on the screen. How can i render this. Only the fume, not the objects. with Matte/Shadow assigned to the object??? thx
Great! But I would say that you should change up the parts that fly out the house after the plane hits. I'm pretty sure the engine wouldn't be intact after crashing into a building, anyways, other than that, great!
This is a really good VFX shot. The aircraft model was detailed and convincing. However, I do have a couple nitpicks with this. (I know that this was done mostly to show that you know how to do it, but this is just who I am.) The first nitpick I have with this is the chimney collapse is a little too janky for it to be realistic. The particle effects for the dust and fire are great, but the chimney just doesn't look quite right as it collapses. My next major issue with it is the fact the aircraft would not rotate like that after the wing is broken off. In fact, it would rotate the opposite way to the way you had it rotate in the video. The wings on the aircraft generate the lift for the aircraft to fly, and so, when that lift becomes unbalenced, i.e. when a wing breaks off, this would cause the side with the remaining wing to rotate (in this case) toward the camera, rather than away from it. I know you had the aircraft rotate the way that it did to cause the chimney to collapse, but it would have been a bit more physically accurate had you had the aircraft rotate the opposite direction, and had the tail clip the chimney instead of the wing. My final nit to pick on this video is the building the aircraft crashes behind. You can tell it's not actually there. There's no visable weight to it. It's the same sort of effect you get, where you can tell if you're looking at a video that's been paused or just a photo. you can tell that the building is just a photo that's been imposed on the video. Once again, I know that you were just doing it to show you know how to do it, and to give others a basic tutorial on how to do it themselves, but me having the eye for detail that I do, and the minor perfectionism OCD that I have, I just had to point these out. I think that the overall product that you've produced is fantastic, and you've done a great job on it. I hope that knowing these minor flaws in this video, will help you to learn to create better-looking, and more realistic VFX videos in the future.
+Downunda Thunda Thanks for the time to analyze this. Sure thing many things could be done a way better, but this was just a student work and my beginnings in the Vfx industry :)

other wise it was great and nicely done with the camera movement and interactions. Perhaps the airplane should collide with some cables those snaps as drags the wooden poles with the airplane for a distance.
