Pleasant and impressive memory of the sky, there was still no visual pollution, the "milky way", in all its splendor, looked like a "diamond waterfall". It hurts in the soul that today, barely the moon shines in the sky. Greetings from Medellin. Colombia 🇨🇴
I can’t even imagine how brilliant it would be because I went camping out on an Iowa farm and woke up in the middle of the night I came out of the tent and was almost blown away by the way the sky looked it was no longer flat but curved round, you could see the curve In the night sky and the stars it was absolutely unbelievable it almost felt like you traveled back in time and was standing at the beginning of time. So I don’t know what it would look like if it was even darker. I was born and raised in the city and had never seen the night sky look like that.
Great ! People should individually take responsibility to keep the nights dark. I m from Belgium and the light pollution is horrible here. And nobody seems to care...
I grew up on a farm it was quiet and I liked to go out at night lying on my back and looking at the sky and gazing at the stars and with my job I had to move to town and one night I remember I I was on the balcony it was 4am and I noticed there wasn't a single second of silence. If it wasn't a passing car it was an ambulance siren or the police, firefighters, a factory, people, I f***g miss my little piece of peace.
Welsh island named first 'Dark Sky Sanctuary' in Europe - BBC News 1246pm 25.2.23 there used to be such places in the lake district wherein you could see vast tracts of celestial bodies in the night sky. dont know if that's the case now.. but i'd head up there if you wanna get a gander at some decent vistas...
It's dark enough, such you can see the starlink satellites in the clear evening after sunset or morning pre dawn skies, all those little satellites in their orbits overhead.

Forgive my ignorance, but is it common to have Welsh people that only speak Welsh? I always thought that all Welsh people spoke English primarily, but Welsh was like a side language that they spoke at home.
No. Welsh is the primary language in many social and work situations. My education was until the age of 18 through the Welsh language and not English. It wasn't until I went to university that I first experienced only using English. There is no such thing as a 'side language'.
Most people in Wales only spoke Welsh 100 years ago, but the last monoglot Welsh speakers died in the 1980s. Most people in Wales today can speak English too, but Welsh is not a “side language”, for half a million of us, it’s our mother language.
Thank you both for answering! I meant no disrespect referring to Welsh as a "side language" i just meant something spoken at home mostly and not used as a primary language.
@@0xmoo it’s not dying, but it’s not as spoken as it once was. I’m in my early twenties and I still speak it on a daily basis, as do many others. Not many welsh people “hate” English people, also we were punished for speaking Welsh for centuries.
H3ll Nooo, I will not be taking my asx no where near that dark, evil place, but I bet a lot of you will get tricked over there, because it sounds innocent, its alluring right?? 🌑 The adversaries will not trick me into some dark, demon:c remote place that has basically zero light, meaning no enLIGHTenment, just evil, wickedness!! i can assure you there is nothing remotely evil about beautiful ynis enlli. it was a place of pilgrimage for monks, many who were buried there, giving it the title "isle of a thousand saints". there is a ruined abby ,there, & it was proclaimed by the catholic church that 3 pilgrimages to ynis enlli equalled one pilgrimage to rome. even today, it has a beautiful, holy atmosphire, you can tell that it is a very special place, blessed by God & all of his saints, who took pilgrimages there.
@@amiyah5834 maybe you are a city dweller, who has never seen how spectacular a natural, un light poluted night sky can be. when you are gazeing out into a realy dark, night sky, you are gazeing at a vast, celestial panorama, covering thousands of light years of space. every one of those stars is a sun, some of them of modest size, like ours, some hundreds of times bigger than our sun!. some of those suns have planets revolving around them, like our sun has, & some of those planets might be beautiful worlds, teaming with life, there may even be inteligent beings on some of them , with thei'r own, fascinating civilizations & cultures. because to look out into a dark, night sky, is to be looking out at a big chunk of the universe, & to marvel at God's awesome creation! astronomy is the most nobel of the sciences, because astronomers are admireing what God has created &, unlike other forms of science, are doing nothing to try to control, change, polute, or destroy it.

We have nine locations in the U.S. if you want to go to one
Great coverage of a really important story! Thank you.

Want dark sky? Come to Iceland in the winter. You are never sure if your eyes are open or closed.😊
🤣🤣🤣especially if you watch the semi-finals of Söngvakeppnin
Na
I would love to go to Iceland
Fairly certain that Sark was the first 'dark sky' island in Europe, over 10 years ago.
@ERF ahh I see, thanks for clarifying!

@mybeautifullife4169 hi ☺
Finally some good news from Wales 🏴 👍
Isn’t Sark in the Channel Islands also recognized as a Dark Sky Sanctuary since 2011?
No. Sark is a Dark Sky Community

This just shows how messed up the world is, the fact that we have to go to certain places to see the night sky as it really is 😕
The mysterious and primitive side of the earth is transmitted
Can anybody name the wonderful music that accompanies this video clip please?

"Hello darkness my old friend."
Very nice.
My supermarket is a 30 mile roundtrip and almost everyone is visually similar.....does that count?
Good News , Love BBC world services. Superlative.
That is so handy ,trios of people will probably share a fiat punto and head down there
Darkness I have ever come across. This is darkness overpowering light

dark sky island!, that song always reminds me of ynis enlli, maybe she had been there, once.
They should ban all outdoor lights like during the war.
OHHHH!!!
Darkness is as important for as light for plants, animals and humans.
These people get more bonkers by the hour.
If Starmer gets his way with renewables the entire UK will be a Dark Sky Sanctuary.
You took the words out of my mouth
Ah I the old “ I’m here for the working class “ communist ploy!
As opposed to the Conservatives getting their own way (which they do) and us ending up with 'dark' waters? 💩💩

I am a beginner UA-camr and would really appreciate any advice on how I can improve my videos.

Good. It is a disgrace the amount of awful artificial lighting there is.
