Thank you TexasPrepper for tip. 2007 Cadillac Escalade Ext was idling once upon a time, until i watched your vid and now it has stopped idling on crank up. I used 93 Chevron Octane with Techron. ^5
Bro!!! Just wanted to say thanks for making this video! I had a rough idle going on in my 2004 Yukon, and the check engine light was on and flashing. I watched your video, went to Chevron, put $20 worth of 93 gas, and all is back to normal!
Rough idle can be multiple different causes on these newer chevy engines. 4.8,5.3,6.0. I did alot of research on these engines. There prone for intake gasket failure. I had rough idle as well. I changed intake gasket.. wala. All fixed.
Man i have a shaky idle on my 18 silverado 5.3 and i know i had a air leak from the valve cover hose that goes to the air intake dealer broke the connector and tried to epoxy fix it but it gave it. Not 100% sure if its the cause of the rough idle i had a new throttle body installed under warranty. I had a bmw and it would misfire from a vacuum leak so i assumed its the same
Yes, sometimes, you need to stabilize the gasoline specially when you use cheap gas . Chevron gas with techron and a vp 7 in 1 fuel treatment help my 2005 silverado rough idle.
Should be idling around 550-600 RPM. If you fall too far below 500 you'll probably start getting misfire codes (I know when one of my spark plugs got fouled it was varying between 400-600 RPM and got codes).
Thanks I have 2005 Chevy Tahoe LT with 240 thousand miles runs like a champ just replaced my knock sensors, spark plugs, 1 engine coil and connectors cleared the code ride about 100 miles no codes yet but has small vibration I checked my wires hoses and vacuum leaks nothing is wrong with it I am afraid to drive it seems like it's going to stall out I use premium fuel and used fuel injector cleaners so my next fill up I'm use Chevron with Techron.
Never use fuel additive or injector cleaner in a bottle. Fucked me every time. If the injectors need cleaning then take them out and clean them. They sell a kit to pulse them open properly 🇺🇸💪🏼👊🏼🤙🏼
Thanks, I'll try this. I have been using reg gas, and have been using the gumout with P.E.A.. With only 67k miles its rough idle but runs smooth. Have been noticing a surge sometime also.
These trucks idle rough because they burn oil. Carbon deposits create preignition detonation knocking which can be heard on heavily under acceleration. The real fix is to get the updated left valve cover and the updated tiny oil splash guard that goes on the oil return nipple inside the oil pan, and a professional seafoam or system clean to prevent hydro locking. Higher octane fuel is less prone to cause knocking with carbon deposits and compression and the additive helps clean the system in the very long term. Is like engineers want our engines to break with this PCV systems, thats why oil catch cans help reduce this by reducing oil contamination in combustion chambers.
I cleaned my tahoe 2012 throttle and the RPM goes to 4 ! , I switched the car off and did the following. First, I disconnect the negative side of the battery. Then, I start the car with the key to the maximum for 1 sec and switch it off, then I repeat last step again, then I start the car gain with the key to the maximum for 15 sec and switch it off. Then, I reconnect the negative side of the battery again. then, start the car as normal and left it running for 3 minutes. then switch it off, then start it again for 3 minutes, then switch it off for 5 minutes. then start it as normal and start to drive. It works for me and I hope it works for you as well.

I am thinking I have clogged injectors, or a blockage in the fuel line somewhere. I don't have Chevron stations near me. Will the additive work, too?? Been running 93 octane for a while to help with oil consumption on our '08 Avalanche. Only idles rough, goes away at higher rpm...
Packersrulealways yes additive should work the same , what do you want to make sure and at least run three tanks with the additive in it. make sure you've done all your other routine checks like I mentioned before.
www.truecar.com/blog/2011/03/03/premium-vs-regular-gas/ Not to argue with you but i don't see how running 93 octane will help with oil consumption, there is no added benefit from running a higher octane fuel unless the vehicle was meant to run it or if the engine is knocking (pinging).
So wot was the main cause of the rough idle?!! I am facing the same problem we tha car stands still RPM hasetating 😬😬😬.. Did everything you hve mentioned plugs +cables+coils+throttle cleaning+ fuel cleaning 😬😬😬
Make sure your vehicle is throwing any codes 1st off, as far as the cables wires, plugs and throttle body that's all visual inspection. Rough idle is could be cause by several things as small as small vacume leak and as big as a large evap leak, like a he in the gas tank.

What is an oil catch can?
@@brocko1970 it separates oil from the dirty air inside the engine block. Positive crankcase ventilation..pcv bmw calls it an oil separator. From the valve cover to intake. Letting the engine breath better air with less oil in it. Making the car have a tad more pep and better fuel mileage so as not to foul plugs
Could be a map sensor issue… Techron isn’t a quick fix to a real problem.
Mine was idling rough. No power. I replaced MAP sensor. Problem solved. Then I reset, cleared all codes with scan tool.
@@burnnotice5086 I just did that and cleaned the MAF sensor too and I still have a rough idle. No engine codes either, I’ll have to do a smoke leak detection test. It’s probably the intake manifold gasket and/or egr valve gasket.
I haven't seen chevron in North Carolina so what is the other option ?
you can go to your local auto parts store. they sell Chevron with Techron.
Texaco
I've never run anything but Chevron with techron and it still idles rough.
rubbermaidable same here, think it's water in the gas due to the ethanol. It rain pretty good after a full up but started stumbling again.. I don't keep the tank full all the time and that allows for condensation to form in the tank.
When's the last time you cleaned your throttle body? Have you looked at your plugs and wires?
Same here and both my throttle body and ignition parts are new from dealer.
@@texasprepper2623 Throttle body is new, plugs are new, they don't have wires. I noticed it ran a little better after changing the upstream 02 sensors, I run it hard too. I think it runs better now at 145k than it did when I bought it at 68k.
Edit: but still idles a little rough.
@@rubbermaidable don't have wire?
If that helped try running E85 ethanol your truck runs on it I run half Chevron with techron and half E85 ethanol
What us chevron with tech Ron
my 08 Tahoe started acting up yesterday, I smelled burnt plastic, nd then the transmission light came on, now it shakes when running, any ideas??
Have you ran a diagnostic on it?
Did you figure this out @orlandotelevision I had the same problem same smell and my car is still in the shop. Guys can’t figure it out.
Can I use that stuff with my flexfuel
Great video. What plug wires are you using?
Where do you get that 140 mph speedo…….
I had the Same problem . you need to clean the throttle body
Nope that's not the solution in all of them my throttle body is clean and still does it. Seems normal when passing 100k miles it seems.
I read that rough idle is normal on these because it is programmed to idle lower than usual
Yup read that too. I have an 07 Yukon 5.3 and I still have this slight rough idle that you can feel. Cleaned everything new spark plug wires etc
what was the gas you mentioned? wanna try it
Daniel Jackson Chevron with Techron
So wot was the main cause of the rough idle?!!
I am facing the same problem we tha car stands still RPM hasetating 😬😬😬..
Did everything you hve mentioned plugs +cables+coils+throttle cleaning+ fuel cleaning 😬😬😬
Make sure your vehicle is throwing any codes 1st off, as far as the cables wires, plugs and throttle body that's all visual inspection. Rough idle is could be cause by several things as small as small vacume leak and as big as a large evap leak, like a he in the gas tank.
I have a 2008 chevy 5.3L V8 LTZ Tahoe which idles rough around 500 rpm. Getting a P0307 code checked all wires, plugs. Also seeing a little white/greyish smoke when idling sometimes. Need help
That's cylinder 7 on the driver side closest to the firewall check injector
TYLERXISXKOOL ok took to shop and mechanic said it was cylinder 7 valve stuck open. Was $1300 to fix. Thanks a bunch
About to get rid of my 07 Tahoe. To many problems. Starting to get really expensive. Never thought I'd say this but I'm getting a Toyota.
javiertupadre how’s the yota treating you?
Noe Dominguez lol
Sell out😂😂😂
clean the idle air control valve since the idle looks a little lower than normal, chrisfixs last video shows you how to do that
This make doesn't have one.
The correct idle for this vehicle is 500 rpm in gear and 600 rpm in park or neutral.
@@an-ro2bb yeah i know i own an 08 ls with the 5.3
@@yamen857 yet you say clean the iacv
@@paquesepas6696 im pretty sure mine has onr though
Eating oil?
bp or chevron if not my truck runs vad
Is this the 6.2?
Chevron with Techron. I think Texaco also adds Techron to there fuel.
o2 sensor
ak470 no, O2 sensors are fine.
TexasPrepper oh ok
I think Chevron and Texaco are one company nowadays...
You mean 93 or even 87 chevron because I only pump 87 chevron, have new ignition parts and new throttle body and still get a slight rough idle.
I luv this truck
Just got a can, going to add it to my 08 tahoe with 140k miles. I know a lifter colapsed.
Mine I’m has been running with a collapsedlifter for 5 years now
Acdelco fuelpump problem solved
Did u scan ur gm and said it needs replacement for rough idle?
i use. 711 no problem. with. my car
red rock akward, why are you even looking at this video if you car runs fine...... just saying
I have a Chevy avalanche with the same nasty idling and switched back to 93 and my problem was fixed just like that so I back you up
Mine idles after I pump gas
edgar gomez me to high rpms
A H clean throttle bottle and intake manifold
Any clue please let me no thanks
This must be the worst form of proof ever, i work delivering fuel, arco and movil and chevron is the same fuel lmfao ur off buddy
It sure couldn't hurt for you to clean the engine bay and components. It will definitely help diagnosing certain issues.
Nothing hurts when trying to rule stuff out. Good tip.
The only real fix for these gm motors is to find a brilliant technician or replace everything.
that Drake in the background made this video great😂
I have a 08 Tahoe isle good but drive bad change coil and plug and wires still engine light on and saying same thing
Frank Hale get it diagnosed
Your oil pressure is low
Silverado or 4.8 -6.0 are drama queens lol
That air intake is dirty asf
That don’t work
So that’s alll u did was switch gas
Peace up... thanks bro! Phuck H8erz
oil pressure is suppose to be at 40.
Nah
That oil pressure is well within specification for the 5.3L engine.
Didnt help
MAF
Chevron sucks and cheap has with water mix
😂
