    If you live in Jerusalem and marry someone from West Bank or Gaza you have to move out of Jerusalem (because they are not allowed to move to Jerusalem). And once you move out of Jerusalem, to your partner, you can never return to Jerusalem (to see your parents that are still living in Jerusalem).
    Long story short you have to choose between living with your husband/wife and never seeing your parents again.

    Hebron is arguably the most conservative and traditional of all Palestinian areas while Ramallah, Bethlehem and Nablus are some of the most progressive and cosmopolitan. It would be like a New Yorker being asked about someone from Alabama or Mississippi.

      You doubt it because you cannot see it. You doubt it because you have not lived it. You doubt because you don't have innocent family members who have been slaughtered or disfigured at the hands of Israhell. You doubt it because you are ignorant. Palestine will live forever. If Israel is so strong, why has it been 68 years and they haven't killed us all? Palestine is strong, and the world stands with it. That's why. Buy it or don't, only fools reject fact.

      Realyisraeli You mean the two Israeli undercover military Intelligence officers caught in Ramallah in 2000 that were there to assassinate someone? You mean the two war criminals that were caught? If so, I really couldn't tell you what I would have done if I were in the crowd knowing what these two were there doing.
      Secondly, what everyone saw was from outside the windows of the jail not from the square.

      Brap Pitt He's actually right , people in Gaza and Hebron are religious , but this doesn't that Palestinians in other cities aren't religious. Ramallah , the most secular Palestinian city , has religious residents , Christian & Muslims. When you walk in the streets you see women wearing Hijab everywhere. But religious tolerance is high , Muslims , Christians , Leftists and Seculars generally live together in this city. While in Hebron , you can't find a single Christian , or someone who says he is an Atheist openly.

      North Africans (including Egyptian) are very different than Arabs east of Cairo in this way. All of Sham, Iraq, and Khaleej (and to some extent Sudan) are very tribal.
      Egyptians might have preconceived notions of people from other cities but they would never be that cutthroat about not marrying someone, with the exception of Saidis (and to a Palestinian, that's like marrying an Iraqi).

      @PhilipSalen consider how close European countries are to each other, verse how culturally diverse they are. The rest of the world works similarly, we've just been far more inundated by European history, that we can simultaneously understand that not all Europeans are the same, while not realizing this about Arabs. There's about 700 million Europeans, just under 400 million Arabs in the world... of course they're gonna be diverse, like traveling from England to France.

  • @johndo5096
    @johndo5096 8 років тому +24

    The thing is that the distance between the cities that are mentioned in the video is 1-1.5 hours or even less. Gaza is another world, under Hamas rule ofc. Ramalla is more secular and modern, Hebron is very religious and under Hamas influence. So a Palestinian woman has to think twice before picking a husband, after all she would have to move to her husband's area in most cases. But if you ask a Palestinian man the same question, his criteria are very different because he's the man of the house, she has to move, not him. And he sets the rules of how the household will run, not her.

      In my country, Indonesia, the longest distance you can travel in straigt line on the map is as far as London to Kabul. @@MnHoney- love for israel is pure self interest, politics and some mix of demographic rivalry of hindus with muslims. Even some muslims, very very few of them like israel too just because they may be nationalist muslims(not derogatory to those who donot support israel, many are nationalist when talk comes on pakistan). Also many indians who love israel feel indebted to it for its steadfast support for india's defense against pakistan and a lot of people feel that India got nothing in return from arab and muslim world for its committment to palestinian cause, with organisation of islamic countries/council(OIC) hurling regular abuses on india over kashmir, doing batting for pakistan. Also hate for israel in socialist and communist circles troubles right wingers too much as they feel that reduced exploration of partnership with israel is hurting its defense preparedness, agricultural and water availability issues and many more tech startups areas where deep linkages can be sought.
      Also official stance of india is still committed to palestinian two state solution. Present high in relation with israel is a tactical shift as India also has problems of its own, solutions for which exists with israel. Hope you understand some core reasons for support for israel among indians, primarily hindus, secondarily some very few highly informed muslims.
      Also other reasons now emerging are that when saudi arabia, guardian of the holiest shrines, royalty is slowly moving towards israel strategically then what is the fun of india forwarding interests of muslim palestine when their own can't do it for them.
      Good wishes to you
