North Africans (including Egyptian) are very different than Arabs east of Cairo in this way. All of Sham, Iraq, and Khaleej (and to some extent Sudan) are very tribal. Egyptians might have preconceived notions of people from other cities but they would never be that cutthroat about not marrying someone, with the exception of Saidis (and to a Palestinian, that's like marrying an Iraqi).
@@deda9829 That is because these tribes had their own culture, language, religion before they were taken over and forced into the Arab Caliphate. So even though now they speak the same language and have the . same religion, that underlying culture from before is different.
The distance between Hebron and Ramallah is roughly 43 kilometers. The two cities are not that far away. It is interesting that from the videos it seems that they have different mindsets.
@@faizaanwar3662 Perhaps there may be a misunderstanding. I was commenting about the diversity of the Arabic populations of Gaza and Hebron and also the diversity of ideas and religions in the area. Probably, the diversity of thought and ethnicity predates any checkpoint.
@PhilipSalen consider how close European countries are to each other, verse how culturally diverse they are. The rest of the world works similarly, we've just been far more inundated by European history, that we can simultaneously understand that not all Europeans are the same, while not realizing this about Arabs. There's about 700 million Europeans, just under 400 million Arabs in the world... of course they're gonna be diverse, like traveling from England to France.
The thing is that the distance between the cities that are mentioned in the video is 1-1.5 hours or even less. Gaza is another world, under Hamas rule ofc. Ramalla is more secular and modern, Hebron is very religious and under Hamas influence. So a Palestinian woman has to think twice before picking a husband, after all she would have to move to her husband's area in most cases. But if you ask a Palestinian man the same question, his criteria are very different because he's the man of the house, she has to move, not him. And he sets the rules of how the household will run, not her.
Lauran White Not really. Most of the Israelis are secular or moderate in the matter of religion. But we do have about 9% Orthodox Jews who are even worst in many aspects :)
Wow I lived my whole life in Palestine and never knew that people tend to think like this and that there is boundries between people from different areas.
hi, I'd like to learn the situation in palestine. Is that true if Gazan moves to West Banks or vice versa their domicile status will be revoked permanently? I mean that they can't come back from where they were originally?
@@RBlindWarlockR I mean, if it's true, then it's kind of veiled agenda. Normally, you can move out from one region to region within the country without practically any restriction. It's a sign you live in a sovereign state. In the clip, Their responses to the questions are as if the were asked whether they would marry someone of different nationality. In my country, Indonesia, the longest distance you can travel in straigt line on the map is as far as London to Kabul. I mean, the whole Israel-Palestine territory is so small relative to my country, people marry someone so much far way is a normalcy. So why they show hesitations? So, I asume their barrier is political rather than geography.
@@RBlindWarlockR it's interesting. But personally I am not keen on the mindset. In indonesia, we have 500 some ethnic groups and language, in fact our national language is second language for most of us. Unlike Arab, or palestine Arab specifically, our national identity is totally artificially invented rather than organically emerged. The rivalry between ethnic groups perhaps happens in lager scale than of which happen in Israel-palestine. But still shamed and discouraged. Interreligous conflicts on the other hand, still deadly.

Brimba Himba because Egyptians are not arabs
The distance between Hebron and Ramallah is roughly 43 kilometers. The two cities are not that far away. It is interesting that from the videos it seems that they have different mindsets.
I had no idea that there was this diversity in these Arabic areas. Fascinating interview thanks
it’s because it’s so split up due to checkpoint
@@faizaanwar3662 Perhaps there may be a misunderstanding. I was commenting about the diversity of the Arabic populations of Gaza and Hebron and also the diversity of ideas and religions in the area. Probably, the diversity of thought and ethnicity predates any checkpoint.
Yes, a Muslim from Malaysia is very very different from a Muslim in Afghanistan.
.
@John Do are you Palestinian?
Lauran White Nope, an Israeli
John Do is their culture similar to yours?

hi, I'd like to learn the situation in palestine.

Keidar's ideas are interesting. One serious problem with his ideas is that it seems he wants to give those "Emirates" very little territory, very few resources and very limited actual self determination.
The idea is very very similar to the concept of Bantustans in South Africa (we will give you independence, but no port, no connectivity of roads and infrastructure, little agricultural land etc.).

Also many indians who love israel feel indebted to it for its steadfast support for india's defense against pakistan and a lot of people feel that India got nothing in return from arab and muslim world for its committment to palestinian cause, with organisation of islamic countries/council(OIC) hurling regular abuses on india over kashmir, doing batting for pakistan. Also hate for israel in socialist and communist circles troubles right wingers too much as they feel that reduced exploration of partnership with israel is hurting its defense preparedness, agricultural and water availability issues and many more tech startups areas where deep linkages can be sought.
Also official stance of india is still committed to palestinian two state solution. Present high in relation with israel is a tactical shift as India also has problems of its own, solutions for which exists with israel.
