Well, since it’s cold 9 months of the year here is Syracuse, I usually end up changing all mine during cold weather. Probably easier in direct sun or heat. Just changed mine, and I use multiple razor blades and it still takes about 20 minutes of scraping, goo gone and window cleaner. Was hoping there was a better way, but I can see there is not, lol. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for sharing! One viewer commented and swears by razor blades and window cleaner. I wasn’t sure how much better it would work. Seems like not much better based on your attestation. Thanks again for watching and your comment!
what worked for me was using my health insurance card to poke at it until the sticker comes off. once the sticker is off there will be some residual tape around the window still. spray the window and residual tape leftover with some windex and use a towel to smoothly wipe over it in a circular motion. all of it comes off in under a minute
Nice! I think that is similar to what I tried, but I’m clearly not as good at this as you :) that said, I think I over relied on muscle and not enough on windex. Thanks for watching and commenting!
That's overly complicated. Take a razor and get a corner off and the rest of the registration should come off quite easily once you have a grip on the corner. If there are certain pcs that don't come off just use the razor again on another corner. Once the sticker is off, take a rag and rubbing alcohol and rub the adhesive left on your windshield off. If you want you can take some glass cleaner and a dry paper towel and wipe the surface down before you apply the registration.
Thanks Amit! I think I did the second half of your suggestion but failed at the first half. A razor would have been better which I could have pulled from my carpenter’s knife. I ended up scratching with my finger, which worked okay, then using cleaner to get the rest off as well as a paper towel to clean before reapplication. Thanks for watching and for your comment!

@@amitsalam1 Understood. I didn’t think it was any malice. I actually like your method as well. I was just curious what started your initial search of it if you had your own method.
Part of the difficulty stems from the position. It is more difficult on the driver side because of the steering wheel. In other countries, stickers are applied on the passanger side, it is a lot easier.
A Razor Blade Scraper with a Handle is the Best & easiest way to get off an old Registration Sticker. It will also scrape off any excess glue. If you haven't removed the Glue thoroughly off the Glass from previous stickers, the glue eventually will be a bit harder to remove even with a New Blade which should always be used. Put some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel, then put it snug up against the glass, rub a little & it will remove excess glue. Rinse area with water & make sure it's Dry. Then just put your New Sticker on. Keep Scraper in Glove Compartment and your ready for the Next Time.
@@YeahBuddy I think many may not use my method because they may think it will scratch the Glass or something-but it won't at all. They even make the Scrapers with Longer Handles too. Online only 6.00 and up.
@@YeahBuddy be safe if using a blade without a handle. Most carpenter knife blades have a slant on each end. The Razor Blade Scraper Handles keep the blade straight, super snug, and tight. The blades are straight and both sides of the blades are straight. (Rectangular shape). The Scraper Handle allows you to use some pressure, and keeps the blades from shifting. 🙌
As simple as it may look. Its kinda hard to put on neatly. I got my new registration a month early and i dread putting it on and not mess up. But i'm gonna have to suck it up because the month is nearly up.
People complaing about NY registration and placement is pretty astounding to me. It's once every 2 years, and it isn't as easy to steal as a license plate sticker
put some dishwaswhing liquid or a cap of vinegar in a small spray bottle with warm water. soak it...and it will come off like butter with a decent razor edge...
@YeahBuddy Seem's like a trivial thing, but nobody wants to drive a car around for the next 2 yrs with ugly regestristration sticker goo all over the windshield.
You should do a video on the EXACT last day before your tags expire. Alot of people including myself don't know if it's the last day of the month or last day of the previous month . Thanks.
This is a cute video but not very helpful. What you need are 3 things. 1. A fine-edge thin scraper. 2. Goo-gone. 3. Rubbing alcohol pads or window cleaner (do not use Windex) - You cannot remove sticker residue with glass cleaner, you need goo gone and it will not harm the windshield.
DEFINITELY!! Why do we have to register a car more than once makes ZERO sense!! And if they’re going to make us do that, why not have a small barcode sticker placed on the car once and once you re-register the vehicle it gets updated in the system and if need be, the police can just scan it. 🤷🏾♂️
Wait!! On a whim I added some dawn dish detergent to a paper towel, and it cut through the goo on the first pass. The smudge was gone and the sticker region was as clear as glass in 30 seconds. I finished off with some window cleaner and applied the new sticker. Looks professional!
Quick question, so I order a duplicate sticker by mistake, and now DMV sent me one original and one replacement windshield sticker. Does anyone know if I have to use the replacement or original or It doesn't matter which one I use?
Do the numbers match on them? I think you are good. But to be safe, I’d use the replacement. Unless you already stuck the original, then just consider rolling with that unless you hear from someone more legit than me. Thanks for watching and your comment!
@@YeahBuddy it's just the top bar code the 6 number and 2 letters on the top is different, other than that, the expiration date and year the VIN and Plate number are exactly the same. Thank you for your reply.
