Even had a few that smelled like very strong gas and could probably catch on fire anytime. And it caused me to get a headache within seconds. These safety inspections are a good idea!

In my state if the part isn't within manufactures original specification it should fail, even if the problem might be only a slight crack on a rubber bushing. Since it didn't come that way the safety inspection should fail. As it's written that should mean? All aftermarket parts should fail as well unless they are OEM compliant? Also tire thread if it's 2/32 you fail, and even if the vehicle passes safety and OBD 2 if applicable? The inspection station can fail you for anything they deem as safety even if it's not required by the state! Truth is this is part safety and a scam to get peoples money another example? There's not set price for the inspection sticker by the state, inspection stations charge what they want which range from $35-$80. My April 2021 Inspection took just over an hour to complete. For OBD if you cleared a code and completed a drive cycle and you only had one Incomplete it would pass in my state, not sure if New York is the same? Thank you for putting on this vehicle.

Dumb New York State law says sedans can’t do it only tint the rear windshield only! Last I knew, ball joints and cv axles are not checked in NY state. Don't know what state you are in but that's how it is in NY. I never agreed with not checking the ball joints, I feel with those bearing most of the front end weight, they should be checked and fail if loose at all.
I can't imagine living in a state where you have to let a stranger poke around in your car to check stuff like this. I drove through Oregon once and almost fought the punks at the pump because they wanted to touch my truck.

The nys car inspection is meant for only one thing.....TO HARASS THE DRIVER!!!!! I left nys for Connecticut primarily because the inspection procedure in Connecticut is MUCH simpler there. Connecticut checks only to see that check engine light is off & the Cat Con is there, and only every 2 years. F______ nys, on the other had, checks almost everything on the car every year!!!
Plug in the scanner. If there’s no codes, give it an inspection sticker advise the customer of what he has to fix and sent him on his way.
I was considering moving to NY, but after seeing all the things they check during car inspections and the frequency, I think I'll stay away.

The tint law is in effect so in the unfortunate event that law enforcement pulls you over, they can see inside the vehicle.

Not your fault, but it is ridiculous that a 1 year old car, under a bumper to bumper warranty has to have an annual inspection.
