NYC during the 70s was actually far from cool. It was a rundown, crime-ridden, increasingly deserted hell hole on the verge of going bankrupt. Studio 54 was a bit of an oddity because it was a world class, A-list nightclub that happened to be located in the middle of a slum basically.
@@kconrad5893 the best clubs in the world are in those areas and in those economic conditions usually too: the Hacienda, Manchester; Trade, London. The good clubs - the notorious clubs - are never in the chichi place. They have to be in the underbelly.
