    Do you find it difficult to switch languages like that? I have learned Spanish for 2 years and Thai for 1 year. Once I speak Spanish, my Thai is gone and vice versus.

      @polyglotdreams  8 місяців тому +3

      I set aside a certain amount of time to study new languages regularly. For maintaining and improving I basically concentrate on the languages that I expect to be able to use in the near future.

      @@polyglotdreamsHi, that is a good plan too and I do the same, like my spanish is on a high level, so I maintain that by watching movies, the news and reading and I am spending more time to learn german, my goal is to get that to the same level as spanish. I also want to learn french and japanese too.

    Hey Tim, excelent conversation!
    Realmente não vejo muita utilidade em aprender "gírias" em um idioma. Sendo brasileira nunca os utilizo. Há alguns países que as tem de modo mais incorporado ao cotidiano, mas mesmo aqui é apenas uma linguagem extremamente ofensiva e voltada para as ruas, ou jovens bem despojados.
    Em termos de regionalismos brasileiros, que não tem a ver com as tais gírias, acredito que o mais difícil de um estrangeiro compreender é o proveniente de pessoas gaúchas, especialmente do interior do 'rio grande do sul', não sei se conheces.
    Fortíssimo abç

As for languages we all 3 share many Western languages, but I live most my life in Japan and am a Japanese citizen using Asian languages for more than 40 years (Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Lao, Vietnamese, Korean, Nepali, Indonesian/Malay... that is were we differ... I am much older than Richard and Luca so I have had more time to learn.

I learnt languages to pick up women now I use them to preach Christ and it is amazing how much the Holy Spirit helps in reminding you stuff and facilitating language learning like he did on day of Pentecost@@polyglotdreams

    • @regarrzo
      @regarrzo 7 місяців тому +2

      Butchering might be a bit overstated, it's understandable, but e.g. your x, j, q initals are wrong, -ue final is wrong (in 学) and tones overall a little wonky. Definitely better than the other guy though.

    • @artugert

      Perhaps it was a bit overstated, but your pronunciation definitely needs quite a bit of work if your goal is to sound natural. But it is at least comprehensible, which is the most important thing.
