I've tried doing street photography in Honolulu but every time I have tried some guy who is usually high comes up and starts screaming at me, or tries to steal my camera.

Okinawa is such a different vibe. Crazy to see how many more cars there are there compared to a megacity like Tokyo. It is definitely not as hectic though. Keep it up!

I love the low light photos in the alleyways. gives off a really nice vibe that differs pretty heavily from the sunny street shots.

Either smile, show respect and use language or body language to make them fully understand that you took a photo. Or you can look at the screen or evf and pretend you are still taking a photo trying to show that they are not the subject but maybe something behind them is.
Hi Adrien, I will be travelling to Okinawa soon and i actually shoot my videos on the A7IV too ... but i have a bit of a dilemma. My only lens is a Tamron 28-75 G2 which in theory is fine for travel but I am thinking of selling it and buying a Sony 35mm f1.8 instead. It might be less versatile but it will be lighter, smaller, more stable and let more light in than the Tamron. Any thoughts on this? My second question would be your thoughts between Sony 35mm 1.8 vs Samyang 35 2.8 ? anyways kudos if you made it to the end of this comment and keep up the excellent work.

Hahahah, crazy. I lived in Okinawa for about 4 years. Nice to see familiar places (moved to Misawa Japan for 3 years after Okinawa).
Complete noob question: Your ISO, aperture and shutter speed seem to be different for each photo. How are you changing each setting so quickly as you walk down the street and determine what's best?

@@bencky8977 I figured it was some automatic mode, probably very different settings that get changed based on the camera body/mode. Will have to experiment myself.
I am using Aperture priority mode so the settings are always changing automatically ;)

Hello, I always wonder how can focus your lens so quickly when you’re pointing to the pedestrians, cuz I find it hard and be afraid to offend people when I try to focus my lens on them.
@_@ How do you switch settings so quickly? (ISO,Shutter,F-stop) and how do you know which one is best for the pictures you are trying to take? I am new to photography, I am also going to Japan in January and would love to be able to just have fun with it and enjoy walking around as you are!
I use the aperture priority mode which gives me the best solution to benefit from the automatic settings of the camera and decide the depth of field of my shots

if you only saw tokyo, then okinawa looks really dirty and unfriendly.
great... another video of a kid with a camera walking around sticking his cameras in strangers faces. This not Photography that matters At All. I recommend you go to a library and look through the books of Photographer William Klein. Maybe his "Tokyo" book. It Should make you Think a bit more about what you are doing with cameras. Should.

Are you willing to value the privacy of others? I don't think it is a good idea to take a picture of another person's face in passing and put it on UA-cam.
