This memorable Disney song is on p.12 of Alfred's Adult Greatest Hits Level 1. It was composed by Richard and Robert Sherman in 1963 specifically for the Disney attraction which features 300 audio-animatronic dolls dressed in colorful costumes from around the world reflecting their culture and heritage all singing this song in various languages to present a theme of world peace.
It is estimated that this song is the most performed and translated piece of music and that it has played nearly 50 million times worldwide.
This piano arrangement is by George Peter Tingley. --Norma

    -LYRICS-
    It's a small world, it's a small world
    It's a small world, it's a small world
It's a world of laughter, a world of tears
It's a world of hope and a world of fears
There's so much that we share, that it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all
It's a small world after all, it's a small, small, small, small world
There is just one moon and one golden sun
And a smile means friendship to everyone
Though the mountains be wide and the oceans are wide
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all
It's a small world after all, it's a small, small world
It's a small world after all, no matter if you're big or small
Come on everybody let's bounce to this
Let's play some love with a little twist
    It's a small world, it's a small world
It's a world of laughter, a world of tears
It's a world of hope and a world of fears
There's so much that we share, that it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all, it's a small world
It's a small world after all
    (After all, everybody now)
It's a small world after all
(After all, can you hear me now?)
It's a small world after all
    (Come on, come on)
It's a small, small, small, small world
It's a small world, after all
    (After all, everybody now)
It's a small world after all
    (After all)
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small, small, small world
It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all
It's a small world after all, it's a small, small, small, small world
It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all
It's a small world after all, it's a small, small, small, small world

This is on my "must ride" list at Disneyland too! Sometimes even rode it more than once to cool down on a hot summer's day. Thank you for listening and commenting! Norma

I like this arrangement. Sounds great even though it’s beginner level, which is the reason I like the Alfred books. Lots of nice arrangements. Well played, too!

I see a problem with this method early on into my research into it: it stresses closed position too much.

    You play this beautifully!
One question if I may 8va above notes is to play one octave higher and 8va below notes is to play it lower? if the 8va on the left hand was above the notes would indicate I need to play it one ocatve higher?
I found it to be quite unclear in the book.
I also read on the internet about 8vb and it made me even more confused.
Really like the 2 fingers switch 1 and 3 then 2 and 4 and finally 3 and 5) in the right hand in the end of 25th measure, at first I used only fingers 1 and 3 to move up for each 2 notes. Using the way you do it make it even faster and smoother , thank you :)

Yes, you've got it correct...8va above notes means to play one octave higher than written, and 8va below notes means to play one octave lower than written. The same rule applies to both treble and bass clef.
And I'm glad that you found the alternative fingering helpful. --Norma

Thank you for answering, I am trying to get used to both fingering (your way is a bit harder).
What does 8vb means then? What is the difference if I may ask.

    • @92pianokeys40
      @92pianokeys40  6 років тому

8vb means "ottava bassa", play the notes an octave lower than written. But there seems to be inconsistency in written notation and sometimes even though they want the notes to be played an octave lower they will still simply put 8va below the notes. So the more important thing is simply to notice if the 8va is above or below the notes. --Norma

Regarding the fingering at the end of measure 25, I would definitely encourage the 1/3, 2/4, 3/5 fingering on those notes because it produces a more legato phrase. It is good practice for you and continue to use that even if it is a bit more challenging right now. It will get easier. --Norma
