I was privileged to see Sly work at A Class Studio in Forest Hill, London back in the early 90's when he had the MPC60. Also saw him work at the Sonic Sound studio in Jamaica during the mid 90's. Unlike most drum machine users Sly is one of the greatest real drummers of all time.

@@TOITN Actually that was the sound module that was most common in studios. Sly would be hired to bring his MPC and Gitsy would bring his guitar. The studio had sound modules and recorded to 2 inch tape which would then be mixed to DAT
I could tell he wasn’t using quantize by the way he was tapping on the machine before inputting a note. Still a real musician even with a drum machine.

Does he play with quantize going in like the mpc works?
No he hates those and does everything by ear
