My hair is long, it's long curls. However, this type of hair is very atypical for Somalis. My family consists of people from all the somali regions. North, South, West...etc and I only have one cousin who has hair that comes close to this, but still not as course or tight. Traditionally to achieve this hair, butter was put on the hair and allowed to dry ( similar to the afar) . In the 70's I was told they put coca cola in their hair. Which is why I asked.
