I very much like how they’ve made their packaging materials out of paper materials I can easily recycle!
Oh yeah, the bike is pretty nice, too. 😁
Mine came with enough Styrofoam to float the bike. Must be something old as I just purchased my bike.
HUGE props to Aventon for not using tons of plastic and styrofoam in their packaging.
Yeah now they just cut down more trees. Genius right?
@@coreyalexander4766 No Corey let’s just keep piling up plastic. We can always dump it in the ocean.
@@coreyalexander4766 Not if they use recycled paper/cardboard. I took enough to the recycle center this week to pack several bikes. Most of it was from previously recycled paper goods and cardboard. However the bike Aventure 2 I got from them two weeks ago had enough Styrofoam to float the bike.
@bdyftns Recycling is a total scam and plastic is not really recyclable not to mention it never breaks down and there are entire plastic islands in the ocean. I'd rather go back to glass and paper
Hold on there, let's be honest - the paper was probably the cheaper option.
Mika, I couldn't agree with you more, I broke down on March 2 and ordered the Aventure.2, I got it just two days later, it came via FEDEX and I couldn't wait to get it out of the box and put it together. I took it out for the maiden ride, it was still chilly and 52 degrees and quickly cooled down to 47 and when your moving at 20 + MPH it gets chilly quickly. Anyway I knew about all of the new features, that's why I bought it, back in 2021 I bought the original Aventure and while it is a great bike, I wanted the torque sensor and the turn signals and I am not disappointed Aventon really came through and giving the rack as original equipment was just the cherry on top. I rode today, it started out at about 32 degrees this morning but by 2:00pm it was in the upper 60's, it finally got to 70 degrees, so I got in 16 miles and I had just put a new seat on with a padded cover and my backside wasn't sore at all. Anyway I watched and enjoyed your review, I always like your reviews and videos. Keep up the good work. Ride on! 😎
I just bought this bike from Micah (guy reviewing this bike) and it’s absolutely amazing! I’m so appreciative for his in depth review, it really helped me decide which bike to choose from his many amazing options! The process was smooth, the price was great, and best of all the bike is perfect! I’ve been riding it so much that my gas bill this month has been amazing lol. 😂. I live close to my office, the bike fits comfortably in the elevator and I just park it in my office entryway! It shows so nice that a few of my colleagues are now deciding which e-bike they want to buy from Micah! Keep up the great work!
Current Aventure 1 owner, ordered An Aventure 2 tonight, cobalt blue. Looking forward to the torque sensor and other upgrades. They say it won’t ship until 17 Feb, so about a month.
Damn i cant even get one lmao
I suppose if one is adventurous, you could install a higher quality shifter.
i can't wait to get this bike and customize the everliving hell out of it... front baskets, wheel lights, handlebar extenders for cup holders, panniers, a vault for a spare battery...
A couple people in my bike crew have this bike. They owned several bikes before this one. The only concern I hear are the handlebars can not be adjusted much. Otherwise these people love the bike. Suspension seat post and C9 seat is a nice upgrade. Good bike despite a lessor rear derailleur on the 2.
Finally a torque sensor. Thats a really good price for what the bike is. Nice Aventon! Please come over to Europe.
Just bought one from the bike shop with the free battery promo. Replaced the seat with a C9 and adjustable stem. Added a mirror and mobile phone holder. It's heavy but very enjoyable. I'm 6'3, 285 lbs and it's very stable and supportive for big n tall riders. Two other tall men 6'4 were buying the same.
What kind of top speed you get? I’m a 6’1 guy a little on the Chubby side was just wondering how it performs with similar weight.
@@mr.equity1120 It ships as a class 2 giving you pedal assist (or throttle) up to 20 mph but can be modified via the display to operate as a class 3 up to 28 mph pedal assist (still 20 mph throttle). I didn't initially understand this key difference when I first tried going over 20 mph using the throttle. To obtain a higher velocity of 25-28 you need to pedal assist the "inertia" around 18-19mph (not use throttle). Touring, Sport and Turbo mode helps make it easier to obtain and maintain 24-26 mph. The 26-28 speed is a bit harder to maintain. Gravity works in your favor, in fact a nice decline can get you 28-32 mph. The key benefit to having a bike classified as such is good to enjoy Federal and State parks that have eBike restrictions. Almost no gov regulations have speed limits, but instead they have class limits.
I wonder how this new one compares to the Ariel Kepler.
It appears the Aventon Aventure & Aventure 2 is a more polished finished product.
What I like about the Kepler over the Aventure though is.. The 52V Battery, the 1000w motor, the throttle response and the Size of the Rear Rack that really seems to give you an abundance of space for cargo.
I am going to be buying an Ebike for riding in NJ & NYC mostly for work. I am a photographer & videographer. A bike that I can ride everywhere and in inclement weather is a must have. I need lots of range. So the ability to mount a 2nd battery for extra range would definitely be a lifesaver for me.
I don't need to ride at top speed all day. A constant 20mph is where I'd be at often but an option to get to 35mph+ would be nice.
I do wish Aventon went with atleast a Deore rear derailer but I guess an upgrade could be made later.
THANKS! This is my #1 choice right now!
What I find a bit annoying is that I've only had my original Aventon Aventure for only 6 months and now Aventon releases a newer model. I never saw this coming when I bought my Aventure this past summer. The Aventure 2 I find is everything I wanted in an electric bike. The torque sensor alone makes the bike more responsive and I wonder personally if it's possible to retrofit the torque sensor to the original Aventure model. If not, I then wonder if it's worth it to buy the upgraded model even if I have the original Aventure still in like new condition.
I got mine at the same time, but I'm not annoyed. I know things are going to update here and there. I was really tempted by their Level 2 a few months back. I just have to fight the temptation to upgrade to a newer version of my ebike before I need to. It's not a cell phone lol.
How hard is it to flip the bike over to change a flat out in the wild ?
Thank you for the review! 🙌
This is a great review of the Aventon Aventure 2 electric bike. The fat tires provide great stability and traction, and the electric assist makes it perfect for riders who want a little extra boost on their commute or weekend ride. Freemotion Shop is always on the lookout for new and exciting electric bike models like Aventon Aventure 2, to offer our customers a wide range of sustainable transportation options.
I bought one and I love it!
🥰
I HAVE THE SAME BIKE AND JUST LIKE THE REVIEWS LIKE THIS ONE.
Because I had the first GEN Aventon level, but I got stolen last year the day after Thanksgiving in 2022, so yes, I’m looking for a new bike and I would prefer what are those that I’ve asked you to do a review on and give me your best review that you think would be best and I will tell me if I’m buying another Aventon bike or one of the others
I hope torque sensors become the wave of the future on EBIKES. Is there a front rack mount and cruise control on this bike? Great review as always.
They do sell a cheap front rack but it seems pretty limited
So the physical key locks the battery into place? I'm confused on how the keys work for this thing
That’s correct, only to release the battery. You do not need to ride
Is there a way that you can compare the Aventon level first and second GEN as well as all of the Aventon adventure
And I can purchase it with those was like Giants or even Scott, as well as trek, bicycle, E bikes
Nicely done. Thank you. Step Over or Step Through and why? Thanks
what's missing in the market is belt driven fat tire low step with good suspension ebike
Agreed. Belt drives are great.
The only thing I didn't like about a belt drive was not having gears
Soltera rider here with 6,000 miles. Completely different bike but it’s held up great carrying this 225 pound throttle rider. Would but another Aventon just because if the build quality but would like at least 1,000 watt hours and at least 52v controller.
But why do you have the key hanging out of the battery?
Is it a hub motor
I Would like to see a 60V or 72V battery
Great review 👌🏾
Couple questions: 1) Will this bikes motor keep assisting you past 28 mph like the aventure 1 did? 2) does the throttle still lag as bad and only go to 20 mph like the aventure 1
As these bike age will batteries in the future fit if you have to replace the battery?
I'm 62 5'8" 285 lbs...short legs. I'm going to get the step through blue, but not sure of the size..any recommendations. Thanks for the excellent video.
Micah, I enjoy all your reviews. I ordered a adventure bike a week ago, can't wait. What psi for paved Rd do you recommend. What is the process to make it a class 3.
Thank you
Russ
What bike do you feel is better the Wired Freedom or Aventon Adventure 2?
Battery seems a bit small and no headlight? I mean, great to have turn signals but...
Brother could you help me which brand one is better around 500 USD
Nice review, nice bike--and nice packaging! (I have a Level.2 and love the torque sensor. Probably would've gone with this one, though, if it had been available several months ago when I bought the Level.2.)
I debating between this and the level 2. Why choose this over the level2? I see the level 2 is lighter but I don’t think 17 pounds is much a of difference.
@@iron_recluse 17 pounds is an enormous difference. The Level.2 is already heavy (that's my only complaint about it--it's heaviness makes it difficult to control off road, and difficult to load into my van). I wouldn't want it to be 2 pounds heavier, much less 17!
@@otterishly777 that’s a good point… what if I had to take it up a short flight of stairs if there is no elevator access….. is there no “Walk” mode on the bikes?
@@iron_recluse It does have a "walk" mode. But the heaviness is still something to contend with in a lot of situations. I like my Level.2 a lot, but I would never get anything heavier (and if I ever change ebikes, it would be to get one that's lighter--because I do like everything else about the Level.2).
@@iron_recluse yes
Do you know when they will do the Torque Sensor for the Pace?
We do not have any plans for this, but be sure to stay tuned and follow us on Instagram for announcements, promos, and sales!
Micah, huge fan of your videos, I have a aventure v2, I love the bike, is there any way to get the throttle to 28 mph, I know some bikes you can program the settings to increase throttle speed, not sure about this bike, I would appreciate any help
Thanks
Russ
I think another channel “Citizen Cycle” may have a programming guide video on the Adventure 2.
It's advertised as having a 15ah battery, however mine only came with a 670wh battery (14ah) . How is this not a class action lawsuit? I paid $2,000 for the Aventure 2 only to get the ol' switcheroo with the battery - 15ah almost made me not get it as that was bad enough - but 14ah?
The Aventon Level 2 has a 14 ah battery, the Aventure 2 has a 15 ah battery. Did you get a Level 2?
@@samhanson6001 @ the 2:44 mark of the video, he clearly states it's a 14ah battery, yet it is advertised as having a 15ah battery. The battery says "678wh" on my A2 & Aventon removed any trace of amp hour rating altogether from the battery. It's an Aventure 2, not a Level 2. 14ah X's 48v = 672wh. So, it's clearly not a 15ah battery. Just another sneaky move from Aventon. If you do a search, I'm not the only one to notice. They also pulled a fast one buy lowering the top speed from 32 - to 28mph and tuned down the torque, so now you have a laggy throttle and slower bike. By the way, they did this through the app you HAVE to use to change settings and they just "did it", no warning or announcement; they snuck a firmware update through the app. This is not a company I would recommend & I would never buy another bike from them.
Possible to replace the aventure1 cadence sensor with a torque sensor?
No, not at this time.
What manufacturer makes a hitch mounted rack that can carry two of these bikes?
I just bought the Thule folding rack for two bikes - I think it's called QuickFold but they only make one folding bike rack so a google search should find it. It's AWESOME. But if you want to haul fat tire bikes like this then you'll have to buy the longer tire straps (I got them on Amazon).
I know this is an old comment, but the rack Electrek (I assume Micah) recommended should not be used for this bike. It has a weight capacity of 65 lbs per bike.
I got the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider. It's designed for fat bikes, and can carry two 80 lb bikes. It has great build quality and comes at a surprisingly reasonable price (it's about half as expensive as nearly any other rack in its class).
is there a weight limit
Website says 400lbs payload
Not bad at all but the battery could've been bigger.
Looks ok, maybe a bit heavy, can you buy them in the UK? 👍🚴🏴
We do not ship directly to the U.K. we apologize for the inconvenience. 😓
Buy the Kepler or the wired e-bike , you have my word you won’t be disappointed
Excellent
Low ah battery and no twist throttle are what kills it for me
I love the no twist throttle, but then again I likely have a few years on you. 😂 #safety
The design of this ebike is great, but in terms of performance, Addmotor's M160 takes the lead.
Those keys just dangling from the battery while riding lol
It’s a 15 amp hour 720 watt battery
Yeah now we are cutting trees to package the bike.
I like the Denago fat bike better.
Packages mean nothing if I can't ride the bike. I'm 6'4" and find most bikes to uncomfortably small. . If I can peddle, I'll be happier to go touring the back roads
Oh my, they are still killing trees. 😂
Wow niicee broo veyy amaxiing vedio ever i watched good keep it up bro niice work
Literally just bought a adventure 1 -.-
I bought an Aventure 2. I would not buy it again. The bike is okay for an ebike. However, the customer service is lacking. As soon as they collect the money, they are no longer interested in the customer. I am a 100% disabled veteran residing in Oklahoma. My state honors 100% disabled veterans by making them exempt from sales tax. This company will not honor the exemption. In order to get a refund of the tax I paid (about $90), I need them to complete a Denial of Exemption form. While perfectly willing to deny the exemption, they refuse to complete the form. I have to appeal the denial of my refund from the state because the company won't complete the form. Four requests have been made for the form but they either fail to respond or make the same statement of how they don't honor any tax exemptions. If you truly support the troops, don't do business with this company.
100% and can ride a bike?
It is never a view if you don't give the price how fast it goes how far it goes
He tells the price towards the end, and it goes 28 mph
*** WARNING !!! **** Bought this after seeing many good reviews. Be aware that their battery BMS is AWEFUL. In the instructions it says that you must disconnect the charging battery within 2 hours of fully charged and never more than 12 hours. In other words, plug it in and check every hour until done?!?!?! REALLY?!?!? If you ride and want to plug in and forget it until the next day, this is NOT THE BIKE FOR YOU. Everything I own...literally everything with a batter can be plugged in and forget it without a problem....except this very expensive bike.
I suspect this is just a failsafe suggestion. I've left mine plugged in no problem. However I do use a timer on the charger as my own fall safe.
Do I have to be an eco fascist to like ebikes?
Course not
Aventon sucks!
I don't know if it is just me but am I the only one that find these bikes so ugly?
Yeah, my biggest frustration in buying a new e-bike has been how ugly they all look. I have a Van Moof S2, want to change it for something better / faster as I’m super unhappy with customer service, specially if you don’t live in Netherlands. BUT I still keep it cause it’s the only one that looks great, and as stupid as it sounds, it matters a TON to me. It’s not a fashion accessory, but I guess it’s like a car, I would never buy an ugly one just cause it’s great. Anyway, looking forward to a good looking pedelec / 28mph e-bike. Van Moof teased one at some point, 50 or 55 km/h, their signature style in a bulkier version, but I haven’t heard of it since they teased and god the customer service is absolute TRASH.
@@thomasgayet2874 have you looked at Wing?
You so clearly are a biased reviewer who sounds like a commercial. 14ah battery is a joke. And your estimate of 30 miles on throttle is also. More like 17. That's full throttle with a 170 pound rider.
Maybe you missed it but I listed the 14Ah as a disadvantage of this e-bike. But either way, if you're getting 17 miles on full throttle at 20 mph with a 672 Wh battery like this bike has then you need to untie whatever is being dragged behind your e-bike, that's awful range. 30 miles at 20 mph with this battery is entirely doable on flat ground with high tire pressure on asphalt.
I don't think he's biased. He's just accurately reporting that there are a lot of great features for the price! (And no, I don't work for Aventon. I just did a lot of shopping around, and know a good value when I see it. This bike is that.)
@@Electrek Full throttle is only 20mph? That's also a shame. I don't recall if you mentioned that in your review. In that case 30 miles is doable. My 4 e-bikes all do 28mph on throttle alone. That's what I'm basing my 17 mile range on.
All e-bike battery life capacity available today will degrade. Life expectancy is 3 to 4 years. Then expect to pay for replacement if the battery would even be available.
@@stevievilles Surely, batteries degrade over time, but my original 2016 commuter's battery is still working, even if it can no longer offer the range it offered when it was new.
They just lose range, they don't break like an engine which stops to work completely if there is something wrong
Sure it's not a 15 battery?
Yes, you could spend thousands of dollars on an eBike ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ and get something much higher quality. However, if you're looking for a basic model to try out eBiking this is a great choice. The assembly is easy as far as bikes go (took about an hour for me to do, I'm not an expert). All tools needed are included. I added the plastic mud guards you see and a more comfortable seat. The other reviews are correct that you're probably going to want a better seat (Giddy Up! Bike Seat is what I got - super comfortable). The battery easily handles a 2-4 hour ride if you add some of your own pedal power. I haven't even gotten it up to top speed yet - it is very fast. Components are not top of the line, but decent for the price and work just fine. It works great on dirt roads and singletrack and pavement although too heavy to do tricks or any serious technical mountain biking. I'm looking forward to using it a lot over the summer. Tons of fun!
