For those of you confused here's the story:
There once was a girl who was ignored by her father because he was obsessed with Seven Noh Masks. The Masks had all spirits in them and eventually the daughter asked her father for them while he was away in a trip to which he agreed. The girl became friend with the masks but as time went on the masks began corrupting the girl with whispers and doubt. Soon enough the girl, at the masks' council, decided to teach her servants a lesson (since according to a mask they were talking bad about her). This in turn made all the servants finally leave her alone, although it made everything very quiet.
Things stayed quiet for a while until the girl spotted a Shadow. A Demon with Masks. When she asked her masks about it, they said it was a demon that had committed grave sins and that she should stay away but that if she was scared, giving up on everything would give her power to not be afraid. So she did, she gave up on everything and was left all alone. However with her new power she made a new mask, and the next time she found the demon again, her new mask asked,
"Master, why are you talking to a mirror?"
Essentially she killed her father and servants, and using the power of the masks, created a new mask. The new Mask is the Black Mask you see above. Eventually she was so guilt ridden from what she had done, she trapped herself in a Limbo where she'd get murdered by her masks to atone for her sins (and also to seal/forget her memories of it), but her last mask took pity on her and awoke her from it (taking her place instead). So now she has the power of the masks again, along with the "sins" (aka memories) while her last mask is tortured in her Limbo.
OMG,...the chills r real.
I don't play onmy but this cinematic are just to good, i keep coming back

What a wonderful animation & story as always, i really like the backstory of menreiki, i hope in the future onmyoji released memory scroll of shirou mujou, even tho we already know who he is, but i really like to know the side of his story, hope netease can make it ❤️❤️❤️

Simply put, she is trapped in time loops that she created herself

@@okidimasmahendra She became a demon because of the mask. After they took control of her , they forced her to kill people. But her mind didn't support it, so she split herself into two entities, the Black and White Menreiki. The Black is the one who's able to control the power of the seven masks and who remember their sin ( Killing), the White one is the nice and innocent part who doesn't remember anything and who's merely a simple human. Because of what they do, the White part stuck herself in a infinite loop where she is killed by one of the seven masks everytime, in an attempt to maybe, attonish her crime. That, is for the SSR Shikigami Menreiki, now for the SP character, the Black one used all his power to awaken the White from his infinite loop of death, and because of that she's unable to wake up and is constantly watched over by the White one ( as we can see when we use SP Menreiki in fight ).
Hope you can understand something in all that ^^
