I agree because what we learned from this show is that no one is evil for the sake of being evil. Varian was lead down a dark path because of what Rapunzel was forced to do, and while we know how strained Raps and Cass's relationship is she still seemed to care for Rapunzel until the very end. Plus we don't know what she saw when she came back from that door. Maybe she is protecting Rapunzel from becoming evil by touching the moonstone. Did anyone realize that once Cass touched the stone she grew that evil laugh? That doesn't sound like Cass. Maybe the second she touches the moonstone, it possessed her, and that's what she was planning to do all along so Rapunzel wouldn't become evil herself. We already know that when Rapunzel sings the hurt incantation she has trouble stopping herself, so maybe that's why Cass took it.

When I remember Cassandra's genuine reaction when Rapunzel fully recovered from being a bird, and then compare to the last scene of this finale. Wow . . . Cassandra really went extremely downspiral to a drastic measure ever since her hand burned and that unexplained door adventure she went into. 😲😲😲
Options: 1) daughter of Gothel (the option I like least) 2) Corrupted by her hand/the withering incantation 3) Something happened while she was in that door in the house of yesterday’s tomorrow which caused her to do this (most likely to be the case) EDIT: addition to 2) This would explain why she didn't take off her armor when she was getting the cart (could be that the corruption is spreading) For almost an entire minute I even thought the crying baby at the beginning could have been her, but the king set that straight. I almost forgot another, way simpler option: the stone took control over her instead. Because the king did state "from this small drop of moonlight formed a single seductive opal stone"

Choosing Bruce Campbell as the king/Eugene's dad is brilliant. Also, Cass's betrayal shattered me. Especially since Disney Plus Canada didn't release the 3rd season. Had to watch Zambers reactions to learn the ending of the show.
I think the possibilities are endless at this point. But one thing I’m curious of is, was Cassandra dying? Rapunzel’s hurt incantation was lethal, and when Cassandra touched her, her hand burnt. But what if it was poisoned, what if the effect was like venom and slowly spread throughout her body. After all, we never saw her again without the armor. If she went through that door and Zentiri promised to heal her if she helped him, Cassandra wouldn’t have much of a choice.
Don’t worry Moon Varian fans! I believe there is still hope for our favorite alchemist to gain moon powers! Cassandra only merged with the moonstone that doesn’t mean that Varian can not be related to the moonstone in some way. In this episode we learn that Adira has been watching over the group because of Rapunzel’s sundrop powers but what if her and Quirin (Varian’s Father i believe that is his name) speculated of Varian having moon powers. What if that is what Varian’s father has written in the note that is stuck with him in the amber prison of his. Rapunzel could use the hurt incantation to destroy the Amber like she did with the tree or maybe the magic spear if it suddenly turns up out of no where. Season 3 could be where Rapunzel helps Varian with his powers so they form the Ultimate power and defeat Cass or Zin Tiri. If Cass revives him which I believe she might. I just really want Varian back he was a great character and many fan are growing tired of the long wait. Like if you believe Varian should come back in Season 3. I think it's interesting how we could see, from Rapunzel and the Great Tree, how Rap's and Cass's friendship has been deteriorating. Ever since Raps passed her up for Adira, and Cass got her hand burned, things have been going downhill :( Honestly, I don't know if Cass's motivations for taking the opal was purely evil. She just thought she was acting in her own interests. ("I'm fulfilling MY destiny!") ALSO, My headcanon is that, AFTER she seemingly absorbed the Opal, it corrupted her, and is now actually evil because of it. The opal is right over her heart, guys. She was bad in the first place and now with the Opal she's evil.

I think she made a deal. The way she just seems chill with everything after she left the room and did not get a lot of time to even tell everyone that happened in the room really makes me worried that she made a deal with the devil in a way. And that fortune had a double meaning - dang I did not see the King Edmund and Eugene connection coming - like at all! And I love King Edmund when he comes in to help his son to finish this destiny. I think it's interesting how we could see, from Rapunzel and the Great Tree, how Rap's and Cass's friendship has been deteriorating. Ever since Raps passed her up for Adira, and Cass got her hand burned, things have been going downhill :( Honestly, I don't know if Cass's motivations for taking the opal was purely evil. She just thought she was acting in her own interests. ("I'm fulfilling MY destiny!") ALSO, My headcanon is that, AFTER she seemingly absorbed the Opal, it corrupted her, and is now actually evil because of it. The opal is right over her heart, guys. She was bad in the first place and now with the Opal she's evil.

I think she made a deal. The way she just seems chill with everything after she left the room and did not get a lot of time to even tell everyone that happened in the room really makes me worried that she made a deal with the devil in a way. And that fortune had a double meaning - dang I did not see the King Edmund and Eugene connection coming - like at all! And I love King Edmund when he comes in to help his son to finish this destiny. And oh jeez! I hate that I was right to doubt Cassandra, but I did not trust her the first episode. But dang how they toy with your emotions like that. Making a grown woman crying over here.
