    • @linhero797

      The problem is that 100k years ago was backed up by only two studies, and nothing the fuck else (at least as far as I could find on the internet). Both of which have their flaws. Let alone that the flaws would entirely contradict the entire theory of human migration as well as the theory on the evolution of humanity. And given that the North American continent is so heavily searched, if there was evidence for it there would be more then just the weak evidence presented, which are carbon dated bones and tools. Both of which could easily be mistaken.
      I get the point, but there is no evidence of more then 100k years. And about 10k to 20k timespan of humans on the American continents is still pretty much an established fact.

      EVs are superior to ICEs. You can charge them at home for regular commuting, and use fast chargers that are everywhere. They're quiet, and their acceleration beats gas cars hands down. Also, with their battery packs and therefore weight at the bottom, they hug the road and handle snow and ice better.

      I always love this "Oh they're quiet" thing with EVs. So what? I can have a conversation with someone outside my car, with the windows shut, and the car on. Is being quiet really a perk? I already have a pretty quiet car when I'm not driving. And on top of that, noise is a useful indicator of issues. Not one you want to rely on but one even a backwards helmet wearing drooling retarded can understand as a problem.
      Also, Gas stations are everywhere, and unlike Electric cars where you can't really carry a battery, you can carry Jerry cans with gasoline. Hell in any list of basic emergency supplies you want in a car. A couple dozen miles worth of Gas is literally one of them.

    The batteries for EV trucks are so large and heavy it substantially reduces cargo capacity. Also the increased weight of EVs is not factored onto construction of roads and parking garages (catastrophe waiting to happen) also because EVs are much heavier than gas cars there's more rubber and brake dust expelled onto the air ehich is much more harmful than the CO2 from gas vehicles. EVs are bad news, not until they come up eith a lighter smaller storage of energy which can be recharged as quick as filling a tank with gas. The grid doesn't have adequate moad power now and no amount windmills or solar panels will ever be delivered the type of load needed fir all this supposedly green crap which is actually BROWN since reducing CO2 starves plants and trees reducing greenery.

    Good job Joe. You show those pesky Chinese by putting tariffs on their EVs. Not that that anyone is buying them, not even in China. And nobody wants to buy American EVs either, which is why Chevy, Ford and GM all lose over $40,000 on every EV they sell. Or even rental, Hertz offloaded their entire inventory, and nobody wants to buy used either. There is no mass market for these vehicles. Same applies to the rest of the World. They are overly expensive and impractical

  • @DakotaAP

    Ev trucks only make sense if they standardized the battery packs and the infrastructure was setup to hot swap them. Pull into a truck stop and an automated lift extracts the battery, puts it onto charg, and installs a charged one in 5 min or less. It ould be ni different than fueling up now. But thats a huge infrastructure outlay to make it even remotely viable.

    • @mikemcnair2026
      @mikemcnair2026 27 днів тому

      I agree. I think some sort of long play f Cory is at play. The swap out is a no brainer, someone must see a greed angle with this charging station garbage.

    • @linhero797
      @linhero797 27 днів тому

      @@mikemcnair2026 Or the idea isn't actually viable. And I can see one major issue other then it being extremely expensive in both the short and long term meaning this would need to be a long LONG term play for something that won't last as a fad for more then another 20 years. How do you ensure the batteries are still of quality? How do you ensure the customer isn't getting a year old battery on their first recharge? There's a reason why ICEs don't do with despite the fact they've been around for a hundred years and replacing the battery in an ICE is far easier, and would be far better suited for that. It's not a good idea.

    • @merendell
      @merendell 26 днів тому +1

      @@linhero797 wouldnt be all that hard to have the BMS in the battery tracking overall battery health and flag it for replacement once it dropped to some pre determined level of degradation. That would be all handled on the charging end and part of the cost you pay for the swap is that eventual replacement. Instead of buying the battery outright your effectively renting it till your next fill-up where you get a replacement.
      IMO the bigger problem is you'd end up needing dozens of batteries for every truck on the road spread across the routs to ensure they were available when and where they were needed. Could work up and down a major corridor like I5 on the west coast but it would never be cost effective to have alot of batteries stocked out on less traveled routs which would make them even less traveled. Eventually you'd get to the point where trucks are only going along a few set paths and you have to ask the question why are we not just doing this with trains if the trucks are basically just following a train rout with extra steps.

    think about the Yuan, why does it keep dropping when China is running surpluses (because the Chinese workers are subsidizing the exports) iow, china is selling their products at a loss. everything comes out in the wash, in this case, in the currency.

    we need to jettison the term 'free trade', instead, use productive trade, unproductive trade, and counter productive trade (all of which fall under 'free trade'), balance trade is typically productive trade (not always, but most often). there's a reason china is crashing and burning despite running surpluses, they've been engaging in unproductive trace with the US. (It's unprodutive for the US, as well. but more so for china)

    You are wrong about EVs. You can charge them at home overnight when electricity spot rates are lowest and the base load of the grid is lowest, so there is no real strain on the grid. Also, they perform well in cold, mountainous areas; Norway has high EV adoption and it doesn't get colder or more mountainous than that. Please, go test drive one instead of repeating FUD. They accelerate faster and handle better and are quiet. Also, the more we switch to EVs the less money we send to authoritarian governments abroad.
