There's Barret's most powerful gun-arm in the original "Final Fantasy VII." Near the end of the game, when your party parachutes into Midgar to take out Hojo, Barret must be in your party. If he is, the chest containing said gun-arm will be at the base of Hojo's weapon station. If Barret isn't in your party, you miss out.
La Mulana had an upgrade for the starting whip. It's on later game room with a puzzle where you had to balance gems on two scales. The Gems had different weights based on shape and possibly color and you'd only know this by reading all the little tablets and finding out what is associated with what and finding out what weighs what. If you make a mistake on this one room then too bad the puzzle will not reset preventing you from getting it.
I can't get into that game. I guess I really don't like the strategic RPGs from the SNES era. I've tried those Sega games that are like that too. I just can't get into them lol

Onimusha and the Bishamon Sword, only acquired by finding the hanging mustache man and have him send you to the dark realm, down 20 levels of increasing difficulty, until you get the Bishamon Flute. Then you can use that about ten minutes before the end of the game to one shot some Reynaldos and stuff it into Nobunaga's eye.
There's actually a low karma route to getting the mysterious magnum but using it may mean getting a rep hit in the Strip and missing out on my personal favorite quest in the base game.
Pretty obscure game I think but there's something like this in The Granstream Saga. The most powerful weapon in the game is hidden in a Church basement at near enough the start of the game. You only ever get to go into this room once, you're given an item called a Tiger's Eye at the start of the game that you have to use against a specific nondescript dark wall leading out of the room in order to obtain it. Once you leave that basement you can never go into it again.
I was really expecting Poos' Sword of Kings (Earthbound) to be on here! With only one section of the game to get it, one character to use it, and a 0.78% drop chance, I would think it could possibly qualify?
There was this game on the PS2 called Growlanser Generations. It had so many one chances to recruit a character or to strengthen character that you need a guide in order to make sure you get it because the game doesn't tell you that some of these things even happen. For one of the strongest characters in the game you need to beat a specific battle a certain way and go to a place by a certain time or you with miss him. For strengthening this one character you had to get to a certain place by a certain time. The issue is that your main character gets poisoned and is severely handicapped for some extremely tough fights added on top is that backtracking even once or even resting to recover health between fights will lock it out. I know there are a lot of games like that but Growlanser sticks out even after so many years.
The Pandora's Box enemy skill in _Final Fantasy VII_ can only be cast once per save file - if you forget to have the Enemy Skill materia equipped when the Dragon Zombie casts it, you're out of luck. If the Dragon Zombie doesn't have enough MP to cast it, but tries anyway, too bad, no Pandora's Box for you. The Dragon Zombie in the depths of the Northern Crater is the only monster that uses it, so you've got to go all the way down to get it, and even if you do, you might miss it just because RNG hates you.

I think what you meant is that you can't one-shot the monster with overwhelming damage or using healing items/holy spells to instant-kill it, such as Phoenix Downs, X-Potions, or Elixis.

White Wind cures status conditions and heals the caster equal to their current HP - meaning against undead enemies, it functions like the Malboro's Bad Breath ability while also dealing damage, but looking closer at the effects, it DOES counter death effects, meaning on undead it would create a functioning death effect. I'm just not used to that ,because the only undead enemy I've used it on is Gi Nattak, which is immune to death effects.

This brought to mind Robot Odyssey for the Apple II comps. While it helped to grab every item you came across, if you didn't pick up a magnet in the sewers (1st level) you couldn't exit Master Control (4th level), and getting there was no easy task (RO is considered by some to be the hardest video game ever made). What's more, if you had the magnet you could go straight to the exit and skip level 4 entirely, if you didn't get the Master Control bot (another hair pulling task), you couldn't complete the last two puzzles in the game.
When I found out I missed the unique scoped rifle from a mission in RDR2 after playing 100+ hours, I ragequit the game and haven't played the campaign since. SMH.
There's a couple of items in the original Wild ARMs that you can miss entirely if you're not careful (or if you're unlucky), as a couple of the dungeons in that game disappear entirely once you complete them. The Death Rune is acquired by fighting an optional boss in the Maze of Death, that is only reachable after the dungeon starts collapsing (Once it starts to collapse, head back to the 3-way fork with the push blocks near the entrance, head up the middle path that used to just be a save point, bomb the now weakened wall and continue through the path beyond it until the end). The Necronomicon is an off-hand equippable item for Cecilia, and is the best stat-boosting item to give her in the entire game. It is dropped by the Necronomic enemies in De Le Metalica. Luck, patience or item drop manipulation tactics will be necessary (the spell Lucky Shot guarantees item drops if it defeats an enemy).

In RDR2, you forgot to mention the Rare Rolling Rock Sniper Rifle which is hidden in a Trelany(sp?) mission, if you go for it, you sacrifice the gold achievement because RDR2 places a minimum completion time to get the gold achievement. Hint the Rifle is hidden in the barn with the sniper you take out on the second floor.
I would add all the special characters from FF Tactics. My dad (who showed me the game) didnt even know Cloud was in the game, and was amazed when I showed him that I had him. Worker 8, Beowulf, and Reis were also easily missable
Fell Arms: Tales of the Abyss These signature weapons are in the other games in the series but in Abyss, they are harder to fully acquire. After getting all six of them, you have to fight an overpowered boss that can quickly dispatch the player due to her ability to freeze time and wail on their party. What didn't help was the fact that, without a quide or trusted friend, you wouldn't have known you needed to beat her on Hard difficulty to even unlock the Fell Arms' full power
I died to Seath the Scaleless so many times trying to get that tail cut because it’s so wonky. Once I did, he basically rolled over and died from me giving him a stern look.
I spent so much time trying to get those tail axes in Dark Souls and then when I finally got them I realized I didn't have the timing to actually use them as weapons.
Ah yes, good ol' Bendak. I skipped his fight during a few playthroughs but then a friend told me how good it was and that you can clone it so you have 2 in one go. Never gave Carth any other weapons after that haha.
In the PS1 game, Koudelka, which started the Shadow Hearts series, there were time release items, like Ogden's Axe. If your timer was too advanced, you missed your chance.
Mysterious Revolver over the Firelance? The fire lance randomly falls out of the sky and the chance only increases based on your luck and if you don’t know what the explosion is or where it came from, youll never find the firelance. Even then, the firlance could end up in an unreachable area.
Getting a Lich the best Character in Tactics Ogre The Knight of Lodis 1. You must aquire the ring of dead which appears only once depending on scenario path you choose. 1 Either choosing Saia or Killing and Looting one of the deamons in the battle againts Twins. 2. That character has to die while wearing ring of the dead then it transforms into Lich which can have 999 Physical defence and 600 magic defence.
Any game with battle passes/season passes: you only get one chance to get these cool rewards That one rich but nice person who has literally every skin and reward that has ever existed and is willing to share their accounts: oh I don't think so

The Jules lists are usually spot on, but in this case whoever thought up the Zodiac Spear entry doesn't know diddly squat about FF XII. There are only 4 "restricted" chests, and the only EQ you can't have on is the Diamond Armlet. Furthermore, the Spear in the Necrohol was NEVER the only one in the game. There's a chest in the Henne Mines which, basically, has a 0.1% spawn rate for the Spear, but unlike the Necrohol chest this one can respawn WITH the Spear indefinitely, meaning with patience (or some RNG manipulation steps) they are easily unlimited.
Also: a whole bunch of stuff in Final Fantasy 7. There's an entire document on GameFAQs dedicated to the items that you only get one chance to acquire.
Final Fantasy XV gear and Chocobo/Camel hybrid in Assassin's Creed Origins. It was a limited time quest to find. The weapons would appear and vanish when used like Noctis' weapons. The mount was the stuff of nightmare.
I got back into Fortnite and bought the battle pass with left over v bucks from my time in save the world. Got a great skin. Meant to unlock all of it. Season ended two days later. I quit again.
Ayo! You don't know pain until you realise that your Gwent deck will never be 100% because you lost to the Bloody Baron before you realised how important Gwent will be in your life. Spending 50 plus hours hunting down every Gwent card for your deck to get to 99% and never getting that final card (without a new game plus) just eats at your soul every day for the rest of your life.
Honestly I didn't know that bendak starkillers guns were so difficult to get because when I went through it originally I beat him and thought that it was fairly easy without cheesing it.
*Final* *Fantasy* 12 had other weapons, Avatars, armor and npc's that you would never get unless you jumped through all the right hoops at the right times to get them.
I finally looked up the two bobbleheads I was missing; this was one of them and I just thought "BS". (The other was behind a locked door of a friendly.)
D-FYANT that was the 1:255 special starman drop, right? it and the bat from the underground lake in Magicant uber rare mob drops... only items in the game I never have managed the patience to farm...
I can't remember which dragon priest or the locations name but in Skyrim on the main quest, when you ride the dragon to the place that has the portal to Valhalla, if you don't kill that dragon priest, you'll never be able to get the last mask because you can never travel back there.
I remember Bendak being kinda tough, but nothing crazy. Didn't realize this was something people missed, usually I never get the good stuff because I'm a mediocre gamer
Same... What I remember though is that it was a pretty long side quest since you had to fight in the arena several times. I played the game with a game guide (remember those lol??) and you could miss a lot of other things!!
I found a lot of RDR2 secret weapons myself, all the Gunslinger weapons are easy, most players already loot everyone they kill anyway so seeing them is obvious, I got the rare shotgun just by exploring and stumbled across the hermits cabin, the only one I looked up was the vampire, I found the first of his blood writing but didn't know what to do after that and turned to the internet for help and saw what to do, it's really the only one I "cheated" at getting. I'd say the many different hats you can get are rare than the weapons.
There is actually a second way to get the Zodiac Spear in the original FFXII... there's the one in Nabudis that is the method everyone knows... and one in an EXTREMELY rare chest in Henne Mines (I think). The odds of getting the spear that way are less than .1% though lol
What about that beetle-like legendary (using Pokemon terminology because I cannot remember what they called it that kind of monster) monster from Monster Rancher DS? You were INTENDED to get many chances to unlock that monster, but due to a glitch in the game's coding, if you fail to unlock him at the place you unlock him, he will never spawn again. Thank goodness Monster Rancher has sorta manual saving, or you'd likely be screwed considering what autosaves can potentially do to your save file in videogames to get undesired results
What about event only Pokemon? Oh you need an Azure Flute to get to Arceus, well sorry mate that was only released at a single event.... in Japan. Best of luck.
I always get the enchanted gladius because of how well I know eternal darkness & sure I usually only use it as alex towards the end of the game but so what, you don't really need it for all that long anyway. Just tear pious to pieces with it & job done.
A always skipped Bendaks blaster after my 1st playthrough, I was always too weak on subsequent playthroughs, as I saved all my level ups for when we get access to force powers lol.

I hate when they put the items in the opening of the game and you wont know you missed the first item till you find 2 of what ever it is. But still fun to collect hard to get items.

Donnel is soooooo worth it, especially in the DLC chapters. His luck stat is so stupidly high, leveled up properly through hero and assassin, he will either guarantee a critical hit every turn which will also restore his health, or a 1 hit KO assassin strike. So worth it.
Well, there is a machine that you get to play with only once, in watch dogs 2, and it's the huge spider you get to control through a room with controllers and you get to kill all the enemies in that mission and destroy all the data containers/servers or whatever they're and destroy all of a specific company's future projects in that game and climb on walls and ceilings, you only get to play with it at that specific level and i personally see it as my favorite mission in the whole game, that mission was the literal meaning of 'wreaking havoc'

Wasn't the Vandalier Armor in Vandal Hearts an item you can miss? You had to find like 8 items throughout the story randomly hidden on certain maps.

You can get Micah's second revolver if you go back to where he meets his end right after the mission ends.

Honestly I didn't know that bendak starkillers guns were so difficult to get because when I went through it originally I beat him and thought that it was fairly easy without cheesing it.
*Final* *Fantasy* 12 had other weapons, Avatars, armor and npc's that you would never get unless you jumped through all the right hoops at the right times to get them.
The first gold diamond from the plant you have to water in Luigi's Mansion. Good luck getting an A rank if you forget it.

I thought about the Enclave bobblehead in Fallout 3.
I finally looked up the two bobbleheads I was missing; this was one of them and I just thought "BS". (The other was behind a locked door of a friendly.)

The Sword of Kings from Earthbound is one I’ll always be glad to have. One of the best RPG’s, say it with Jules, friends, “OF ALL TIME”!

I can't remember which dragon priest or the locations name but in Skyrim on the main quest, when you ride the dragon to the place that has the portal to Valhalla, if you don't kill that dragon priest, you'll never be able to get the last mask because you can never travel back there.
I remember Bendak being kinda tough, but nothing crazy. Didn't realize this was something people missed, usually I never get the good stuff because I'm a mediocre gamer

Same... What I remember though is that it was a pretty long side quest since you had to fight in the arena several times. I played the game with a game guide (remember those lol??) and you could miss a lot of other things!!

The First Xenosaga had an item on the very first stage after the Gnosis attack. If you missed it you couldn't complete the mech.

I found a lot of RDR2 secret weapons myself, all the Gunslinger weapons are easy, most players already loot everyone they kill anyway so seeing them is obvious, I got the rare shotgun just by exploring and stumbled across the hermits cabin, the only one I looked up was the vampire, I found the first of his blood writing but didn't know what to do after that and turned to the internet for help and saw what to do, it's really the only one I "cheated" at getting.
I'd say the many different hats you can get are rare than the weapons.
How about the Slugger from Brotherhood of Steel? I'm pretty sure that was only one chance kind of thing too
There is actually a second way to get the Zodiac Spear in the original FFXII... there's the one in Nabudis that is the method everyone knows... and one in an EXTREMELY rare chest in Henne Mines (I think). The odds of getting the spear that way are less than .1% though lol
What about that beetle-like legendary (using Pokemon terminology because I cannot remember what they called it that kind of monster) monster from Monster Rancher DS? You were INTENDED to get many chances to unlock that monster, but due to a glitch in the game's coding, if you fail to unlock him at the place you unlock him, he will never spawn again. Thank goodness Monster Rancher has sorta manual saving, or you'd likely be screwed considering what autosaves can potentially do to your save file in videogames to get undesired results

I always get the enchanted gladius because of how well I know eternal darkness & sure I usually only use it as alex towards the end of the game but so what, you don't really need it for all that long anyway. Just tear pious to pieces with it & job done.

A always skipped Bendaks blaster after my 1st playthrough, I was always too weak on subsequent playthroughs, as I saved all my level ups for when we get access to force powers lol.

Children are normally overpowered in fire emblem.

Ahhh the Zodiak, tough but not as tough as Excalibur from FF IX, that was a royal pain in the a** to get.
Gonna assume you meant the Excalibur II (the one where you need to reach the chest with it in the final dungeon in less than 12 hours), since the normal Excalibur is pretty simple...

I hate when they put the items in the opening of the game and you wont know you missed the first item till you find 2 of what ever it is. But still fun to collect hard to get items.
There was a re-release of the dark knight skin it was in a bundle for 17.99

Donnel is soooooo worth it, especially in the DLC chapters. His luck stat is so stupidly high, leveled up properly through hero and assassin, he will either guarantee a critical hit every turn which will also restore his health, or a 1 hit KO assassin strike. So worth it.
He said the dark knight skin he doesn’t even know the name this is why you double check your work.
Well, there is a machine that you get to play with only once, in watch dogs 2, and it's the huge spider you get to control through a room with controllers and you get to kill all the enemies in that mission and destroy all the data containers/servers or whatever they're and destroy all of a specific company's future projects in that game and climb on walls and ceilings, you only get to play with it at that specific level and i personally see it as my favorite mission in the whole game, that mission was the literal meaning of 'wreaking havoc'
