Some reactors call Angelina "The velvet queen" because of her soft interpretations. This was very obvious in this mashup,. The mere power of Adele was neutralized by Angelinas soft but powerful voice, and guess who brought out emotions? Angelina of course.
When Angelina covers a song she sprinkles her angel dust on it and then owns it.

Angelina’s phrasing alone enhances this song, not to mention dynamics, moving between belting and airy tones, runs, vibrato, etc. e.g. In the last phrase, she extends the note on “never” rather than “love” like Adele and Bruno Mars do. It creates a stronger emotional tension so that when she sings “love again” like a 3 syllable word in a soft breathy tone it conveys a complex set of emotions- sadness, fear, doubt, resignation, hope. All the feelings appropriate for the situation and the motivation for the request in the title. She uses pauses and a breathy tone on the key phrases that form the theme of the entire song- “All I ask..is...a memory I can use...if I never love again”. Each of her choices are in relation to all her other choices, which serve hold the song together as a unified work of art. She is absolutely brilliant!
love you two, Angelina is just ,at 15 just unbelievable , she is toe to toe , ( and even in my opinion greater at her young age than Adele), with the perceived greatest singer, at Adele's age Angelina singing prowess is hard to fathom.
What COMPLETELY baffles my mind is why isn't Angelina on the world stage yet?
Any rendition performed by Angelina Jordan is a masterpiece, because the way she transform music to beautiful melody full of harmony, plus the softness of her tone voice, and at the same time adding the strength of her vocals in the right moment; plus her vocal fry, runs, colors, tenderness....Yes and putting all this together in the right place (and you bet she knows very well how to do it) she obtains an art piece like no one else .That is what it makes her unique, and because of this ,Angelina and Only Angelina can beat Angelina.
This is a marvel and a masterpiece. We have to remember that Adele is a 30-year-old woman who possibly sang this at 25, and Angelina is a 15-year-old girl. Adele wrote this because she is experienced the memories of love. Angelina has not even experienced this part of life, yet she can Express the emotion as if she has. She is in reality still a child. This is her gift in understanding the human condition.
Adele is a legendary World singer and Angelina is still just an aspiring artist. And the marvel is that Angelina has given Adele a run for her money! Not only does Angelina keep on par with Adele, but in many areas she exceeds her. As you mentioned, I agree that Angelina's voice is warmer, has more expressiveness, utilizes her jazz tones and soft runs while Adele is a little more sterile for lack of a better word. Don't get me wrong, Adele is a phenomenal singer, but we have proof here that everything we have known about Angelina not only is true, but is even above our wildest expectations. This is the beginning of Angelina really coming into her own.
On a different note, no pun intended, you asked if Angelina played an instrument. She actually plays four including the piano! This is a song you may want to react to called Wicked Game which I believe she recorded a couple of years ago. She plays the piano and sings in this video.

Angelina is a super talented singer for sure. But don't underestimate all the practice she already has in her young life. There are thousands and thousands of hours of singing behind the level she is at. She said on time that singing is like breathing to her. She has sacrificed a lot in her childhood to become where she is. One of the best vocalists in the world. At the age of 15. Just remarkable. Thanks for reacting and following Angelina👏

I wonder how Adele looks at this performance! Is it a tribute and an honor, or sheer competition? For sure she has more power in her voice, but the runs of Angelina, the emotion, my God, the run in the second part (Tell me ...) it's like Stevie Wonder came in ... Besides the power of these two wonderful artists, we need to recognize two things. First, this song composed by Adele, Bruno Mars, et. al., is simply Incredible. One of the greatest songs about unrequited love EVER. And second, Phillip (pa1189j) is the best mashup artist there is. He has created a MASTERPIECE by blending these two enormous talents. So Kudos to you Phillip, and thank you for giving us this wonderful duet. If you're like me, it makes you long to see them together on the stage performing this song. I've gone back and listened to Adele's and Bruno's versions, and they are both Fantastic! But for me, they pale in the light of what Angelina has created with this song. It is her best performance Ever! (IMO). And really, one of the best performances by anyone at anytime (IMO). Just when I think that she might have plateaued, she does this. WOW!!! Good to see you reacting to Angelina again Debbie. I very much enjoy what the two of you bring to the analysis of Angelina's performance. 💕💕

You two wonderful folks had almost exactly the same reaction as myself upon hearing this mash-up. Philip truly has outdone himself this time. This "performance has my vote for "duet of the year" and I would pay top price to see it done as a live act.
I really enjoyed Adel’s version, but I absolutely love Angelina’s version for the same reasons every Angelina fan does and more. I feel the delicate weight, the soft, breath taking, intense, overwhelming emotional, passionate and spiritually uplifting sound of every individual word in the lyrics when Angelina sings. The all consuming heart wrenching emotion her voice elicits in this cover left me in a puddle of tears when I heard it for the first time. Angelina performed this song in the only way that it could and should have been sung. Adele and Bruno Mars wrote this outstanding song, but as good as they are at singing it they are incapable of achieving what Angelina did with this song.

Wow, Tony, your thoughts on the necessity of positive memories was powerful. It made me think of childhood and being belittled and criticized, rather than encouraged and appreciated. It left me longing to go back and replace all those cringeworthy moments with "memories i could use". This was (another) great reaction, and I could see and hear your continuing, growing appreciation for the miracle of Angelina. She really is all that and then some.

Nice stuff guys, it’s ironic that ppl say Angelina sounds like Adell, but hearing there voices together, one can now hear a clear difference between the two artist.. it’s very apparent in the different choices in Notes and runs, the Tonality deference, the difference in singing styles and musicality that determines there choices in notes, different Character of Voices etc..

I actually think if they was singing together live, they would both adjust to each other’s singing styles.. I’ve seen two great vocalist with different styles compliment each other, so I don’t see a reason why AJ & Adell cannot do the same.. this is we’re the artistry comes into play in how they make it work.
Grate artist always find a way that works for both of them..

@@intuitiveempath8988 Hello, you got me wrong too. What makes Angelina strong are her jazzy roots. She sings different notes than on the sheet and sometimes waits for a few beats until she really starts. I don't know of any recordings of a successful duet with Angelina Jordan. Ivan Mendez sings very well too, but you can't find a duet between the two.

But I cannot say it’s not a possibility with two Grate artist and being very clever in how you arrange the song and choices of songs.
I see this all the time on talent shows like, The Voice, we’re talented young artists has to battle/ sing against each other or Collaboration in groups..
All of them with different singing styles.. trust me, it can be done with the right arrangements and a bit of artistry.
I’ve seen artist like Luciano Pavarotti do a duet with Tracy chapman.. and it worked 😂🤣 also Ed Sheeran and Beyoncé.. Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson. And the list goes on.

Debra and Tony, I have to confess that I have watched your reactions to this mash-up eleven times now. What can I say? I really enjoy your excellent company because you make me feel right at home.
Angelina Has been moving me to tears since the first time I heard her over 4 years ago. That streak isn't likely to end anytime soon. Her ability to attach herself to the pain and sorrow of the minute in this song is uncanny. The only other artist that I can think of that can do this on this level is Daneliya Tuleshova of Kazakhstan. After these two it drops away pretty quickly. Now these two have two disparate styles. Angelina clearly has roots firmly attached to Jazz and Blues, while Daneliya is undoubtedly a Pop singer. But their ability to enter into any song they sing is their point of similarity. Both these young singers can put a song on like clothing and model them for us then go and do the same for the next set of clothing. It is also how unerring they are at determining the depth of a song.
Well I'm going to stop now. Thank you both for your insights and responses. It is always good to be open to ideas that others have they might have a perspective that unlocks a whole different way of seeing things.

Wow, kudos to Phillip for matching up those two tracks so perfectly. It literally sounds like they're in the studio together.
Regarding voice quality, they're both amazing of course. Adelle's placement is more forward, Angelina's more open in the back and her vocal folds are thicker and longer, which is amazing since she's still only 15 and her instrument is far from done growing.
Stylistically to my ear, Angelina is more breathy with that slight tailing vibrato showing her jazz roots while Adelle is more straight pop. Both are great and I won't pick between them as of now. Just marvel that we have such voices in our lives. To me they're on a par right now, recognizing their difference in timbre and style.
I hope to live to hear what Angelina becomes in ten or fifteen years.

Angelina has jazz in her roots, whereas Adele doesn't. It's evident when you listen to
Angelina's inflections, riffs, and a multitude of touches that are jazz inspired. The previous
Queen of Jazz was Amy Winehouse, and she was someone these top artists of today
don't even attempt to duplicate......because they realize the futility involved. Only Angelina
can bring forth true jazz elements like Amy and she automatically has inherited The Queen of
Jazz title.

Another great reaction from you two. So many points to cover, but in terms of musical accompaniment, Alan Papier interviewed Egil Clauson and Ivan Mendez, the two guitarists that have featured so much in her home recordings. Both explain that Angelina does not sing to their music, she sings and they follow, the tempo, and particularly the changes in tempo are driven by Angelina. Yes of course it would be nice for Angelina to play piano and sing, she has on occasion, perhaps we will see more of this in the future.
I suspect her performance skill level isn't good enough and she knows it, but I have a feeling she works hard to perfect that. (All of her co-written songs are flat-handed, piano-chord staccoto's, which are particularly easy to perform live AND get the correct 'audio mix levels', too - that's pretty important).
I actually hope we do not see her instrument-performing debut on UA-cam first. I hope it's a live performance venue - may be a filmed TV show, a la a talk show so if she's uncomfortable or unpleased, she can re-do it. Or maybe she'll put a Beatles Video out and have Ed Sullivan present a virtual screening for us, like REVOLUTION or HEY JUDE on TV. Either way, it's going to be exciting.

Before Norway's Got Talent you can hear her sing 'Hurt' by Christina Aguilera, who is one
of the true divas on the planet. There's a mash-up showing both, with Christiana singing
on stage, as an adult, with a full orchestra, whereas Angelina is in a simple sound booth.
Christina, of course, was the overall winner between them but in parts, Angelina can be
heard matching this diva. Did I forget to mention that Angelina was 6 years old ? You'll
have to excuse me now, for whenever I try to comprehend this, I have to lie down before
my head explodes ! Can't tell my psychiatrist about this, for I fear he'll have me committed

Composer/singers bring a soul-deep power to their own recordings while trailing-behind cover artists can only bring their vocal toolboxes, like a mechanic vs. an artist. But in this case, reading about the Bruno Mars/Adele writing sessions, composer-singers may bring some 'baggage' onto the recorded track.
One aspect that's interesting to me is that, there were two 'original versions' - the Bruno Mars gag-fest of over-produced effects, something like sounds like Tokyo after Godzilla stomps it into submission. "Yep! That's Tokyo awright - I'd know it even in the most mangled, over-produced forms." And then there's Adele's choice of versions - far more stripped down, far more authentic to the composition's emotional intent.
And which one does AJ choose? THERE IS NO CHOICE. "Good" is good. "Overproduced cotton candy" is all fluff, no substance.

Assuming Angie has less control about the backing because she's not playing it herself seems to be a fallacy. Thats not how she's operating. She has a clear idea how she wants it to be played and is able to relay that with a few words. A recent interview with Ivan Mendez thankfully gave some interesting insights on that. The backing's following her, not the other way around.
Though thinking about it, it might be somewhat different when she's working with an orchestra. She had no issue to seemlessy join in with the orchestra at the rehearsals for Quicny Jones birthday concert, the conductor reacted pleasently surprised.

I guess the difference of the voices of Adelle and Angelina (for me) is the difference between the sound of brass (Adelle) and strings (Angelina) both excellente but different.

Like seasons Adele's voice only has one season ( "summer" ) but AJ'S voice has all of the seasons ( "summer, winter, autumn and spring" ). It's just my opinion..

You failed to mention that Adele has modified her style bringing her closer to AJ's style of singing which has improved Adele
