    Finally, a good tutorial on how to make a simple macrame plant hanger!! I can see how some people may get confused if they have never made the knots before...I have done friendship braclets so that helped...I just paused the video if I needed more time....thanks so much for posting this...can't wait to watch the others!!

    I'm so glad to see someone making macrame tutorials! I remember searching about a year or so ago and not having much luck. These are really unique designs, can't wait to try them.

    Thank you for the tutorial. I macrame'd a lot many years ago. I know the twisty knots as "half knots" the left/right flat knots are "square knots", just in case anyone is reading a pattern.

    This hanger has about 2 feet + of extra cord at the end of it, and I made mine for a bigger pot size ( 1 additional row of knots) and added wood beads, to it also. If your on a tight budget like me, and want to keep cord cost down, you can easily cut 2ft less off the starting cord lengths and have enough safely to complete. I used 3mm braided macrame cord.

    Why did we need 2 ropes that were 3-body lengths long??? That confused me because we only used 1 of the 2 3-body lengths ropes at the beginning that you said to separate.

      As far as I know, you didn't do anything "wrong" persay.
      It's mega confusing when the cord is all the same color.
      My best tip is doing one with all different colored cords, so you can work out how much more or less of that one, you need 👍
      Hope that helps! I literally only just thought of that idea, hey.
      I'm about to do my first plant hanger & it is soooo much more complex than this one (there are like 5 different types of knots happening in mine & it'll be 24 strands (6 grouped strands) & nearly 2 meters long)! 😬
      Tbh, I'm not trusting my gut & I'm freaking out - that's why I came on UA-cam for help! 👌 lol

    • @iamgiatho
      @iamgiatho 7 років тому +1

      Ok, don't get different colored cord, like I said before! Just stick different colors of tape around the ends of each cord!! L>R & if there's like 24 strands (like mine), number the tape 👍👍
      That way, you can still have a pretty, finished hanger, that isn't a rainbow lol
      It'll also help you with which knots are next to tie, if you stop for a break 👍
      I had another good reason, but I've forgotten! lol

    At 8.24 you say “you’re going to do a left handed square knot and a right handed square knot on all of THESE” ... what is “all of these”? Can you be more specific because I’m lost now. Am I using the long strings AND the short ones now?? Confused....

You mention in the video that you have already showed this knot. where will I find this video.

    I've made a few of your projects and couldn't figure out why it always seems like I have a TON of leftover rope at the end, like excessive. Then, I just realized that measuring in body lengths probably doesn't work out when I'm tall, lol! When you say body-lengths, what's the measurement for that so I'm not wasting so much cord?

    • @ambernicolemyers8437
      @ambernicolemyers8437 7 років тому

      Never mind, I just scrolled down and read that it's already been asked. Now it make sense, my arm-span/body length is 5'10", not 5'-- this explains the excessive leftovers, haha!

    Hi Melisa, Love the tutorial but when you say what cord thickness you mention 1.5mm and then 3/16 inches 1/8 inches, did you mean inches for all sizes? On your site you have the type of cord you use but it didn't have the 1.5 mm size. I want to learn the "Plant Hangers for Beginners" but I want to have the correct material to make them.

      Same here did you ever figure out what happen? I cut all my string and remember she only split one long string in half when I was sitting with two long strings split in half!

      What I think was done here is that she hung one end of each of the long pieces in line with all the shorter pieces and the other ends which would have been substantially longer would then allow her to use the lengths to make the multiple square knots needed for twisted spiral. Otherwise as I discovered, if the longer pieces were each dangled from their halfway point, the chord would simply not be long enough. Hope this helps but should have been better explained in the video

    Anyone figured out how tall Crafty Ginger is? She uses body lengths to measure...but is she 6' for 4' tall? :)
